I'm so glad I never bothered to buy this game (my SNES still functions awesomely so I play the original). The changed sound effects would bug me to hell. Plus the dialogue changes! What happened to the lovely ambiguous "Zelda is your..."? Now it's this "do not fall victim to fate" business? Bah. I'm going to try to watch your whole run here, but I might not make it... damn sound effects. Looks good so far though.
But the TAS I am working on uses the pot, only one, and it is faster at least.
I'm going to watch through your segments later to say what I think. There are a few tricks in the game that I doubt you know. So I would like to discuss the run with you if that's Ok :).
wrong, it gets in a chest later in the dark world of kakarico village. But I highy believe getting it earlier is faster.
On a side note, this one segment has a footage of 5mins 49 seconds long... While it should turn around 5mins 30 =|.
My current 1st segment on SDA is 5:59 long, and my new one (that I'm only done with light world) is 5:52... only three seconds behind you on a faster version!
I didn't know about the boomerang having a darkworld chest location, because many people rarely ignored that chest other than low% runs.
The GBA might be saving friendly (starting at a dungeon) but you lose a good amount of seconds when the game is actually saving when comparing to the SNES :(.
The mirror glitch will be very minor (it will be used to get Early Big Key on the "Real" Thieves Town). A major mirror glitch for this game would be going away from the dungeon entrance (East Palace to Thieves Town) but East Palace to Ganon Skip obsoletes everything (in terms of quickest time with the mirror glitch). I haven't tried the Up + Down method yet (Joystick Up + D-pad down).
The only disadvantage the GBA has is the level redesign on the Ice Palace puzzle (Cane of Somaria is useless).
Watching this brought back my child hood.. The good days :)

If you're playing this on the GAMEBOY PLAYER, hoiw do you pick up items, such as pots? I know how on the GBA, but not on the GameBoy player...

protip: at 2:53, use the pots to kill the guard. You only need to hit him twice and it will save you a few seconds.
gretdude14 3 years ago
True but you need to somewhat manipulate his slow speed to come to Link.
Secondly picking up a pot, exit the mini cage section costs more than 2 seconds.
Lastly throwing the first pot pushes the guard way back. Both TSA SS run and the current TAS run doesn't use the pots at all.

I haven't saw your first one for a while so I stupidly forgot *facepalms*.
Yeah it would be nice to discuss the run. I don't really mind if I restart the whole run and get:
A faster kill, lucky rat key and a heart container (damage is pretty high and quite risky even on the 1st dungeon).

Good stuff man. Keep it up!

Ah a classic, i hate the fact that on this game link screams when you attack, i liked the SNES version better.

this won't be a run with hardcore mirror glitchting, that aims to sub 40 minutes, right? :(
MrGrunz 3 years ago
No but the SNES mid-air save glitch obsoletes the GBA hardcore mirror glitch. So this one is technically Any% with minor mirror glitching.

hey, if you avoid getting the boomerang, doesnt it show up in random chests later?
hitokage220 3 years ago
I don't think so. Only the Lamp has 3 different chest locations.

Thanks for doing a run like this. For a moment there, I almost forgot why I subscribed to you in the first place.

Ooooh.
Nice. Great that you've started such a run. :D

Will this run do any mirror gliching? Also, did you test to see if up on the control stick and down on the D pad produces the up-down effect?
