OGBA, Nigeria -- Bishop Richard Ikpegbu, of Ogba Ward in the Lagos Nigerian Stake, set the tone for the beginning of the recent 2010 Ogba Ward Youth Conference.
"The country depends and hopes on you for a better future and prospects, and we can't afford to let you slip off before the future comes. We need you to be strong and of good courage as you make choices now which will determine your future," he told the nearly 50 Mormon youths and their friends who attended the March 13 conference, which was themed "Be Thou Strong And Of Good Courage."
All churches in Nigeria have seen tremendous growth and is expanding in the Muslim north, God is moving in this nation and Nigerians are turning to Christ, including Muslims!
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has indefinitely closed its Aba Nigeria Temple as a precautionary measure because of recent violence and has evacuated temple workers to other areas.
"The safety of our temple visitors and workers is always our first concern," said LDS Church spokesman Scott Trotter. "Incidents of violence in recent months in the area where the temple is situated are not necessarily related to the temple but could put church members at risk. As a precautionary measure, temple workers have been moved to other areas, and the temple has been closed while the situation is being addressed.
Trotter was unable to confirm or deny published reports in Wednesday's Ogden Standard-Examiner, which had received a mid-June e-mail from a Nigeria temple worker reporting four gunmen carrying AK-47s in the area of the temple and eight bullet holes left in the temple door.
Located in the outskirts of Aba, the temple's complex includes a stake center and administration office. The temple was dedicated Aug. 7, 2005, by President Gordon B. Hinckley.
Two years ago, the LDS Church was the target of another round of violence in Nigeria, as four missionaries were kidnapped near Port Harcourt. With scores of foreign oil company employees kidnapped for ransom in early 2007, the four Nigerian missionaries were soon released with the help of local church leaders.
The Prophet Joseph Smith declared that in all ages the divine purpose of gathering the people of God is to build temples so His children can receive the highest ordinances and thereby gain eternal life (see Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith [Melchizedek Priesthood and Relief Society course of study, 2007], 41517).
I hope no one does what that guy guy wrote below me, That is definitely a scam I'm sorry but its too bad that people are trying to scam people in every way they can, no really I'm serious
I am a Nigerian Mormon who has inherited $1.2 million US, but I am prevented from receiving the money due to legal restraints. If anyone would please forward me their banking info, including all PIN numbers and credit card numbers, I would be very grateful and would give a $50,000 reward for such kindness. No, really. I'm serious.
"I am prevented from receiving the money due to legal restraints"
once you get out of prison, I am guessing those legal restraints will be lifted. Be patience and take the time in prison to learn how to be kind and honest with others.
hey...if u are a Nigerian single Mormon living in Nigeria or America, can you get back at me please? I have a few questions I will like to ask you. Thanks

The Transfer of the Levitical Priesthood of Aaron to the Priesthood of Melchizedek
1Co 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
1Co 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
Mar 15:38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom .

I am Mormon, but I would like to meet more Africans in the Church like me. It's hard going to a predominantly White Church.
