  • that crowd was horrible. they wouldnt even sing when scott pointed the mic their way. i woulda been screamin my ass off

  • If any of you have seen STP live you would know they're billions of times better than on youtube or in the studio. I saw them this summer in Atlantic City and Scott was healthier than ever and sounded perfect.

  • Didn't know Dr. House sang on STP. :)

  • @snf51 Hahaha:D

  • yeah, he cant sing anymore. its too bad.

  • :)

  • this is one of my favorite songs EVER. it always tears a hole through my heart.

  • so sexy.. and I would rip those freakin white boots off his lovely ass. lol then want to play the drum part. love these guys.

  • one more trip and i'll be gone mmmmm sounds familiar lol

  • One more trip and ill be gone!!!! Yaaa!!! Even if he is fucked up i think he still sounds great!

  • I love you STP, THANK YOU for your amazing music.!!!....You inspired me to play guitar and to be a musician......Thank You guys!

  • @TheTriton2008 so fuckin true... me too

  • Actually, pretty solid performance (not to mention dealing w/ evident August heat!), but technically speaking on the audio - the nice additive would have been more reverb and /or some echo to the vocals which were a bit flat and made it much more powerful / nice effect... Zeppelin / Plant, Floyd, and Genesis have used this well.

  • what the fuck is wrong with you people??? This is the sound of a REAL band playing REAL music in the moment with no auto tune - no tracks - no dancers - no synth beats or backing anything to "fill out the sound" or correct subtle human error. Have we all forgotten what the fuck a rock band is supposed to sound like?

  • @spakuloid most people don't sing songs their voice's can't handle anymore, or they change it so that they don't sound bad, i mean he sounds good during the verse, but terrible during the chorus

  • STP is like sex...even when it's bad it's still pretty good.

  • I love how Scott messed up his own words at 1:09 .. "one more trip and ill be gone?" really Scott? "just a whisper and i'm gone"....

but anyway ive seen them 3x in the past 2 years and they're one of the best active bands, with all original members******** If you haven't seen them more recently, Scott's "sober" now (probably just a raging alcoholic), and their shows are amazing. STP baby.

  • Okay people, Scott is no longer 23. He is 43. Please don't expect a 43 year old to have the energy and dynamism as a 23 year old. Just sayin'.

  • @lancetop yeah, 20 years of singing and "recreational activities" will do that to u lol. i've always LOVED STP

  • I don't give a rats ass what back-seat drivers, and drive-by empty heads spew from behind their pathetic little keyboards that mommy and daddy paid for, this performance kicks ass...it rocks! Sure Scott sounded different back in Pasadena in the day, every singer changes you morons, and-of course-as Scott says, Robert "freaking" De Leo is THE MAN on bass-period.

  • What a bad performance by all of them... so dragging... it's like there's no energy there! Compare with this: /watch?v=EIQf_3Cw6Q4

    Sad. I love this song, but this isn't a good rendition of it ;_;

  • not as good as they were in the 90s. they just lost a lot of charisma. ist just like going to the concert, singing and playing a list of songs and then go home and anything. its just without feelings. but still great music

  • man... they aint what they used to be. I gotta say though at least he wasn't busting out those terrible dance moves

  • im dissapointed how scott's voice is so srewed after many years of drugs, but i have the hope he can perform afterwards, cause he did a very good performance in velvet revolver, recently, is about what song he sings, because this doesn't sound well anymore

  • lets hope scott can keep clean

  • what the fuck is happening at 2:24 ???

  • Who cares if they were high or not. It is not our place to judge. We all come here for the music which STP was all about just like the rest of the bands we love from this era. We can be thankful that he's not dead and gone like the other greats.

  • The tempo slowed down a good bit from when they first started

  • @Finleymon Nah you're just high lol

  • @fattirevsbud I think THEY'RE the high ones. lol. But forreal, listen to how much it slows right before it goes to the chorus the first time.

  • @vasilmaxkarl Yeah, there are glimpses :) I am such a big Weiland fan and think he is such a genius that I love him and support him whatever. Hope he's healthy and happy!

  • Robert is the best!!

  • Scott es GENIAL Y HERMOSO!

  • STP En Bogotá, Colombia este sábado !!!!! :O

  • They're not doing him any favors slowing the tempo down like that. The whole thing dragged. Look at the Roling Rock version..then this one. This one seems like they're just mailing it in, comparatively.

  • Depends on the crowd, here in Argentina he is very inspired and the shows are the best

    PUTOS

  • 5/12/2010...STP.........IN CORDOBA, ARGENTINE! VERY NICE SHOW!

  • And I'm not done yet. To all those people not liking this performance, go do a search for the same song at Chicago 2010 Pro Shot. And you can see that he hasn't lost it.

    Thank you :)

  • Oh and to the people who say he forgot his words:

    1) No he didn't, he just let the crowd sing as he always does

    2) There have been times that he does forget his words onstage, but this is very normal, these guys are on stage and in the moment and it can happen. Chris Cornell forgot his words to sunshower last year and he doesn't do any drugs

SO QUIT BITCHIN ON SCOTT AND APPRECIATE THAT HIM AND THE REST OF THIS FUCKING GREAT BAND IS STILL GIVING US PRECIOUS AMAZING MUSIC...

  • hahhaha el bato canta bien sufridamente xD

  • @M3XGH es su estilo we

  • Cant change the past,Pray for the future! Enjoy the music STP are making for us now...

  • wow, his voice changed o the worst

  • what happen with his voice?!!!

  • @chacoxon Its the recording. That isn't actually how his voice sounded. In this recording his vocal volume is turned up, thats all. lol,....

  • @chacoxon - heroin and 50 packs of cigarettes a day

  • @awaretenacious Your basing your opinion off of one performance. I saw them in November of last year and they were AMAZING! Scott's vocals were absolutely outstanding. I don't know if you sing yourself but I have had some experience performing. Your voice (unlike a guitar) can't be tuned. Some days it sounds great others you sound like crap. I think it's sad that you would give up on a band based on a bad performance. it happens to EVERY singer.

  • for all the drugs Scott has done, i think he sounds pretty damn great. Scott, stay off the drugs, we need you keep on rockin'

  • For a second I confused Eric with Ivan Vanko from Iron Man 2

  • hot hot hot damn !

  • LMAO.

Is t his someone's backyard? Looks like 180 people showed up.

  • @TruthAxe 180 people??? You need to get your eyes checked. FACT: There were 30,000 people watching them that Sunday. Look it up.

  • @smmforum You're right. It's more like 160.

  • He is beautiful.....and Eric looks great.

My heart blongs to u know who

  • Guitarists, bassists and drummers can generally keep their chops till arthiritis sets in. I don't expect a rock vocalist to be able to do EXACTLY in their 40's what they did in their 20's. To me, this is not a bad performance.

  • His voice has audibly changed. Maybe he sang in a different way in VR but he doesn't have his characteristic 'gruff' thing goin on anymore. I think age has played a major part here. I bet he was glad when the audience sang for him, temporary respite. I like his 'Cmon', reminiscent of the late great Jim Morrison.

Off to the recorded version now :)

  • I saw them in Houston during the '08 tour and my gawd, Weiland was off. I felt like he ripped me off giving that aweful preformance. The rest of the bad was great! Weiland just mubbled, stood in one place and, well, he sucked.

He seems to be off the drugs, for the moment. We'll see how long that last.

  • @ArtemisMoonBand And this is what's wrong with American rock fans! They expect a "show" rather than go to appreciate the musicianship on display. If I want people prancing around like tits on stage I'll go to a ballet. You go to concerts to listen to live music and enjoy the surroundings, not to cry about the singer being stationary throughout the show. Also bear in mind they hadn't performed together for 5 years before these shows so be thankful you got to see them

  • @PhilSupernova88: As a musician, I listen to the music more than anything. But, I've seen STP every time they've come to Houston, and this was the worst I've seen Weiland. Weiland, when clean, is an energetic frontman. He's one of the best, when he's clean. Due to his drug addiction during this show, Weiland was flat, and I mean musically flat.

They've just announced a Houston date in September, and because I'm a huge fan of the DeLeo brothers, I will be attending the show.

  • @ArtemisMoonBand Perhaps I interpreted your comments wrongly but my point stands. Scott sounds fine here, I just hate people who complain about the vocals sounding differently. Over the years, the strain placed on the vocal chords after prolonged abuse by singing non stop for up to 2 hours. A fine example being Liam Gallagher; in the 90's his voice sounded fresh and over the years it has slowly deteriorated to what it is now.

  • IMO his vocals have gotton worse.

  • this was right after he left velvet revolver right?

  • "Drugs are bad, mmm-kay?"

  • @bottomfeeder89 STFU fool.

  • @bottomfeeder89 hell without drugs you wouldn't have such great tunes in the 80's.

  • @spore73 You clearly don't know Mike Patton

  • i think the reason why this version isn't so good is because he is like 40 now. he is not in his 20s anymore.

  • Why does it seem like they slow it down*

  • His voice sounds great but why does it seem like try slow it down right before the chorus kicks in?

  • oh god this version is terrible.

  • Having been to 35+ STP shows I can say even stoned he never forgot words and always let the fans sing along !!! I can't wait for the new cd and the tour!! Love them!

  • scott sucks but mister ROBERT DE LEO in capital letters can solve any issue, best rocknroll bassist out there by far

  • fuck all the media people ahdn ignorant people......stone soundgarden pearl jam alice in chains they all lasted at the fucking end......great composers and musicans for what they do......what about the big names? aall dead......can t wait to see them in europe

  • SEIZURE

  • Comment removed

  • he forgot the words at 1:30

  • or, he did what he always does and let the audience sing some of it

  • @nenshoukun WEELFUKU

  • @CoversUnited

Shut it, he doesn't. He let people sing for him,

  • @CoversUnited

If you you want to set up a circus , make it properly. There's no sign he forget the words, he just let people sing, as he always does. You should know better before criticising.

  • does weiland call dean deleo robert?

  • please someone tell me what's needed to achieve that sound in the guitar: a LesPaul, a Marshall amp..and what else?

  • talent?

  • @alphaBootes probably has some pedals. like an overdrive and just some random effects.. that's my guess.. you also have to think of some other things.. like what model of amp.. and what kind of pickups are in his guitar and stuff..

  • Skill.. slight delay with reverb

  • add the chorus effect to ur les paul. it usually comes as an fx on marshalls and ur good. i try and get this exact tone and with my marshalll i get the (almost) exact tone

  • talent

  • a very lite set chorus or flange? some slight slapback echo too.

  • please someone tell me what's needed in order to achive that sound in the guitar: a LesPaul, a Marshall amp and... what else?

  • A chorus pedal, he plays 2 tube amp sounds combined together, a 2 x 12 vox combo, and marshall amps. My combo is a marshall dsl-401 , and a fender tube amp, champ, with a tube screamer and chorus pedal. I sound just like him, les paul, of course.

  • this video is actually depressing...damn scott lost his voice during his shitty life...dont get me wrong i adore scott and STP and loved VR but its a freaking shame to what happened to his voice...just listen to MTV unplugged and u ll get the HUGE diference...anyway...STP for life

  • @Arioch1987 I wonder if singing with Velvet put more of a strain on his vocal chords. I dont know too much about Velvets songs but I am sure he was singing slightly differently.

  • @Arioch1987 its quite tragic I agree, such a great singer with so much material just locked away in that head of his. i think the sadest part is, you can tell in certain parts of this video that scott is realizing what he has done to himself, and his voice- and that he really did want and waste far too much. you can see it in his bloody eyes!

  • LOL!! Do you hear Scott mumbling about Robert's funky bassline during the solo? "Robert Deleo...the man dat put da funk in the rock n roool....bring dat shit back." hahaha!

  • The white man demands...what...come on...

    That you shut up.

  • C MOMNN!!!!!

  • What is this song about? I assume drugs but which ones?

  • This song is about Scott Weilands roller coaster lifestyle. However this song was mostly written about a bad acid trip hence the line "I am, I am, I said I'm not myself". very well written song. Saw em' in concert too.

  • @urabusxrw04

name it. thats what drug its about

  • :( this is sad to watch almost but hey hes doin better, mans he amazing

  • lol nice boots hahha

  • Saw them in my home town last month and his Vocs were really good. Lets keep in mind he is 42 , a smoker and a drug addict. Also I think this is one of his more sober performances. I don't see the false confidence that he used to have. Thats a good thing. There playin..thats all that matters! :-)

  • @HardonthePocket

I think he quit the drugs. That's why the split cause of it. But, I don't know. Something you'd have to ask him or them.

  • @HardonthePocket I like what you said about the false confidence Scott used to show. The change is a good sign of a recovering person. Also, I don't know if I want to see anyone else standing up front singing lead on what is his song. Leave the song to the ages whether than see it being hawked out by some replacement. STP in history stands out as a superior tight talent in any case.

  • @HardonthePocket i was there, he was so fucked up, he talked about why he left velvet revolver and he slurred so bad u couldnt hear anything he said, but when he sang it was perfect, not complaining lol

  • @HardonthePocket I agree with you but 2007-2008 he was back doing drugs and its obvious hes not "sober" here. The false confidence that we actually loved back in the day was from the heroin, but the spaced out look and mumbling from this whole show is just some other form of drugs.

But still, like you say, look at all of our other legends from the 90s, how many of them are alive? I'd rather Scott be alive and rocking than dead and mourned...

  • @HardonthePocket Actually this sounds like one of his performances when he was really high on herion. are you really that retarded. yes they are playing but he is so strung out he doesnt know what the fuck is going on. Its a shame how a amazing musicians can let a drug destroy their life.

  • @kamikazi5489 It changes man, it's amazing how one day Scott is high and brilliant and other days he's high but spaced out (like this concert). Look at Edgefest Toronto 2008, which was a month before this. In that, he's the old Scott with the cocky dancing and great voice and engaging with the crowd. A month later and he's like this.

Maybe it's what drug he uses that affects him. Unfortunately, I think he's always at his best when he's using heroin. Though obviously, he shouldn't :)

  • @kamikazi5489 It wasn't the decline of grunge and heroin use? Because I'm pretty sure this song sounds the same as it did in the 90s.

  • @MizfitCyrusBlake Ya you're right; it's pretty close. What do you mean by the decline of grunge? lol

  • @kamikazi5489 I am an ex-junkie,and Scott is out of his skull man.He can barely stand up.

  • @kamikazi5489 I am an ex-junkie,and Scott is out of his skull man.He can barely stand up.It's the smack. He likes to mix it up with coke.I'm guessing he didn't do any or the H was much stronger than he thought.

  • Oh man, what happened to his voice? Used to be so awesome...

If u search "Interstate Love Song Vocals Only", you'll think its someone else singing

  • Drugs and time happened...

  • This bass line is soooo cool

  • sick performance 2008 yeaa baby stp forever

  • He's wearing the same shoes peewee did in his dance for the satans helpers.

  • great crowd great band

  • How sad the sound in his voice!!!

  • Scott looks beat up

  • and sounds beat up too!

  • we're living in the 80s again. i wanna see STP on a 90s type-of stage. none of this LED-light bling-bling garbage.

  • his voice changed alot. even in the early days. and i still think sounds good considering the power of the record version

  • the effect of drugs my friends, it ruins carreers, if you abuse it

  • @anotherstatistic92 or makes your careers AWESOME

  • @anotherstatistic92 he sings it just like this on the album. And he always had the crowd sing on the chorus. He slurs the words on the album also

  • @careypeak23 If you think this is one of his better vocals you're deluded.

  • @kmvoss Did I say that? uhh, no. He's not a good singer, but this is they way he always sang, before drugs. My point, its not drugs, this is the way he sings

  • @anotherstatistic92 and it can make careers, if you use it

  • @anotherstatistic92

yeah but its great when you are musician and you create things if u don`t believe me take off all your albums all your cds all your posters go to a library take care your mom and die old without any funeral

  • Scott leaves his voice in 1996.

  • vince vaughn on bass everybody

  • HAHAHAHA this comment made my day

  • lol

  • Robert's Bass part is the best in this song!! Hear the break downs... OMG!! Good stuff!

  • Don't like scott's look here, he should grow his hair a bit lol, unless he's starting a competiton with Rob for most receded hair line haha

  • Rob won that one way back when Core was out lol

  • They are still amazing

  • i love how he prances (no i don't mean dances) on stage. it's so funny. awesome.

  • I loved his voice. I'm so glad happy they're back. I'm a fan, and fans are fans, godamm it!!

  • He sounds like a lounge singer doing a characature of himself.

  • You are so right, sad as hell but true. check out same exact song 'live at rolling rock' its on you tube and I watched em back to back, its fucked up, the diff, and it aint because of age

  • LOL so true. STP is still awesome though.

  • I agree, He sounds like shit. Scott was very good before he got famous.

  • Last time he sounded good was during Contraband.

  • simply awesome!

  • i'm not dead and i'm not for sale...

  • Comment removed

  • how much better was that live performance from a few years back? when he was dancing around like an idiot during the guitar solo. man i loved that. goosebumps. oh and still one of my favorite guitar solos ever.

  • this was the first solo I really nailed in a cover band and still one of my favs.

  • he couldve been touring like crazy.. itll burn your voice out. imagine how many times hes sang that song. he must hate it now

  • Is That Scott Whalen??

  • i love this song. my 3rd favorite of STP

  • his voice is different but it still sounds good

  • wtf happened to his voice he sounds like he was neutered

  • Scott's voice is almost gone...he's just too rock that's why its still cool!!

  • He looked like he was hot...

  • keep on trippin anyway

thanx scott you are the man

  • I'm diggin' the shoes!!!!

  • where is your voice scott?

  • lol Weiland is a weird bastard! but hes cool shit

  • yeah!! the bass line is retarded!!

luv the song just 4 that!!

  • que voz del orto

  • love this song!!!

  • scott weiland, he's a great singer...but he's fckin' WEIRD!

  • how profound! no rock star is weird
