  • I have 2.00ghz quadcore but 4gb ddr3 1066mhz ram......lol

  • Pretty good. I get around 30FPS on the Asus g50vt with the 9800m gs with all settings on high no aa.

  • Get a screen recorder.

  • my g50vt-x5 runs crysis maxed out except for aa (aa is enabled @ 16q aa in nvidia control panel)

  • so wich is better g50 or n81vp?

  • Isnt the G50 widescreen at least im pretty sure the G50vt's are, so why are you running 1280x1024. Always run LCD's at native res, unless it is absolutely necessary or is properly scaled.

  • The native resolution on my external monitor is 1680x1050. Running Crysis on that resolution will be horrific (fps wise).

But I agree, games will usually look best when ran at the screen's native res, but in this case, it's simply not realistic to do so.

  • well, atleast it should be in the proper widescreen aspect ratio since the image is being stretched here. But I agree at 1680x1050 this laptop would implode or something, My main rig struggles with 1920x1200 and it is considerably more powerful than this.

  • well, this is a cheap build, don't expect the highest quality. oh yes, refresh rates affect the widescreen capability and visual tear. he probably set the refresh to 75 herts

  • read the description, it's another monitor

  • Comment removed

  • Did you put it on ultra high I cant tell.

  • hey great vid ..i recommend u to set shaders on high and everithing else on medium ...trust me itll be a better looking game and u will have the same fps if no better ...

  • XP doesn't determine how much ram you can utilize. It's a 32bit VS 64bit that determines your ram along with the chipset and bios. But you are correct, I am using only 3gb of my 4gb because I have XP 32 bit install, but if I have XP 64bit, i will see all 4gb. This is the same with Vista.

Vista 32 will only use 3gb.

  • Yeah, i didn't know that. Recently and custom made a pc with 4gb ram on xp pro 32bit and saw only 3.25 gigs. I thought it might be a motherboard prob but in bios it showed 4gigs. So after some research found out i was the damn 32bit windows. Will soon upgrade to 64bit Vista or wait for windows 7(i think tahts the new one coming up).

  • How noisy is the laptop?

  • It can get quite audible, but not to the extend that it bothers you during gaming.

  • good gamepley performance but at what resolution?

  • 1280x1024

  • Should I get this or the sager np8660?

  • I've got a G50VT-A1

Comes with a better video card (9800M GS)

Also, why the &$^# does everyone keep going to just plain old XP when they have 4 GB + of ram. Seriously, WTH?

If your going to go to XP, get XP-64.

  • Actually, the GPU in the Sager NP8600 is better. Also, XP 64 bit is notorious for poor driver support. Even if you manage to find them, the drivers are poorly written. If you want a 64 bit OS, stick with Vista 64 and if you want XP, go with the 32bit.

  • I've been using XP64 for about a year now, I have also used vista64. The driver support is as good, I have also had ZERO problems with XP where vistaids crashes and has driver issues. It is also slower and feels less snappy and if you go to change a setting it feels clunky with no option to revert to the original menus. vista has DX10, flashy GUI, sideuselessness bar, indexing which is slows the computer down but makes life easier.

I'd rather have XP, stable, quicker, proven, and i know it well

  • You should consider the G50VT-X1. Its identical to this but with .3GHz less processing power and a better graphics card (a Nvidia 9800M GS) for only $950 @ Best Buy.

  • At the time of purchase, the G50Vt versions were not out yet :(

  • now its 899$ at bestbuy =)

  • Shaders are the key to this game. I set the game all high but shaders low and the game looked like low lol.

  • Hmm, this computer should be better than the Acer 5930g.

Watch the quality on this vid and then search "Acer 5930g" and look for crysis gameplay.

Compare those, the acer looks to run better and also at full graphics, why is that?

  • I'm thinking about picking up either the G50vt-x2 or G50v-a2 note the vt versus the v after G50. The 'v' version is older but has a faster processor/slower video card than the vt-x2. Any suggestion on what I should get? I can get either for about the same price now. Blue ray drive might be nice, which the a2 has.

  • oh and 1 more thing that will be very nice of you can you tell me the settings of gta, cry, farcry2, dead space, fallout3, grid, and Cod5?

(by the way, it should be useful to every 9700m gt owners)

Thank you very much emporiumboutique ;)

  • hey dude thnx for this vid i have a question for ya: i have an acer aspire 8930g with 9700M GT 4gig ram ddr3 centrino duo p8600 2.4ghz . Would you think it could run cry on ultra high at a decent solution like 1920*800 since its an full hd 18.4" screen? thnx alot ;)

  • Nope. Playing at higher resolution means your GPU will work harder and fps will decrease. Your Acer has the same GPU as the Asus G50V, so the best setting is 1280x1024 with high details with medium shadows and shaders. You will have too much lag if you try and play Crysis on a 1920x800 resolution.

  • ok thnx i knew that but what's best:playing at lower resolution with high details or playing at a higher resoltion with low details?

thnx dude, and thnx for your vids.

  • I love this game and play it on my Asus G1SN (medium/low 40-55+fps). You gotta love how you can chose to be completely stealthy sneaking up behind enemy front lines, sniping 6 enemies and then making a super speed retreat when you realise they have tossed a few grenades in your general direction. Only to return later on behind them while they are searching the wreckage of your burnt out car thinking you must be near by but you aren't, you are miles away because you ran faster than linford.

  • I bought Asus G50V-A1.very beatiful and powerfull.See specification.

  • Hello

    SRR4MYBADENGLISH

I want to buy a Laptop but I dont know witch one i should buy me..

    Asus G50 or Alienware m17 or Alienware Area-51 m15x

They are all in the same Price Category so the price dosent matter.

BUT witch Company is better?? Alienware or Asus

    Please Help me!

    Greez RaZoR/Nico5088

  • Asus by far. Alienware is now made by Dell anyways and there way overpriced for what they give you... It is like buying a Mercedes for the name and the car sucks dick.

  • Actually, Alienware is owned by Dell. They are both OEM (original equipment manufactures) companies and the don't make any of their laptops. OEM companies (including Apple, Sony, Toshiba, Lenovo/IBM, etc) all purchase from ODM (original design manufactures) such as Asus, Clevo, Compal, and slap their OEM logos on the laptops.

Alienware is more of a boutique brand, and you're paying more for it's name brand than for the hardware.

  • Which mostly Asus motherboards and msi are being installed in..

  • Drivers 180.70 moded.

  • I have Asus G50-A1 and today i tested on GTA 4.

GTA 4 is playable on Asus G50v-A1 on medium texture.

I use 1280x1024 and it gives me 30FPS Average.

    1024x768-35-40 FPS/Everything on medium textures.

    So.I play GTA 4.LoL:)

    Can i play GRID???

  • thanks for posting. GTA IV is the reason I want the new lappy.

  • do not get a laptop for gta IV

    its more demanding than crysis!!!!!!!!!!

  • is there any gaming labtop that is around 1300-1500 that can run crysis on at least high settings

  • No, not on high settings, but the best gaming laptop in that price range is the Asus G50Vt-X1 (only from Best Buy) or G50Vt-X2 (only from Newegg)

  • what about if i put the res at 1024 by 768 u think i can play it on high with maybe medium shaders

  • will it run like this on a hp dv5 with intel core 2 duo (2.53) 4 gig ram Geforece 512 9600m Gt

  • Most likely not. The 9600M GT in the dv5 is not as powerful as the 9700M GT in the G50V

  • why u have 4 gigz if u use xp pro?

  • I actually have both XP32 bit and Vista64 bit dual boot on my G50V. The reason why I have XP32 bit is because I have a few programs I'm using for work that is not compatible with Vista. Gaming is still better on XP :)

  • Hey emporium can you help me i have a question:

which laptop should i buy the Gateway P-7811FX or the Asus G50 X1 they both have Intel Centrino2,Intel core2 dual, Nvidia 9800 gt and 4gb ram ,2.26GHz plz help me

  • Actually, the G50Vt-x1 has a 9800M GS video card which is slightly less powerful than the 9800M GT in the gateway. Gaming wise, the gate will win hands down, but keep in mind the gateway is a 17", hence less it's heavier and less mobile than the 15" G50. In addition, the G50 has an extra hard drive compartment that can support dual hard drive and RAID-0 configuration, which means overall performance, the G50 would be slightly better.

  • correction. i have the g50vt-x1 from best buy and it says on the system info that it is a 9800m GT but its probably downclocked thats to a GS... lol p.s. do you know a good driver for the 9800m GT to get the most out of it and good overclocking programs? tnx in advance!

  • the only reason i want a laptop is that my parents said I cant take my xbox 360 to college. With a laptop I have to bring to college to study with I can play games. Xbox 360 is best gaming console.

  • fanboy much?

  • can u buy another gpu and play sli on the g71?

  • That's almost 100% not possible.

  • ok just thought that it might have an extra slot like a bunch of other laptops

  • um... a bunch? i'm pretty sure only desktops have extra slots. laptops can only change the memory, hdd, and possibly cpu. (correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure i'm not)

  • I've seen a lot of laptops with an xtra slots so I don't know what budget u have but the top klasses usaly have an xtra

  • There's only a few laptops currently in the market that can support dual SLI graphics. They are also pretty much exclusive to 17" laptops due to the high heat produced by the GPUs. These laptops are: Clevo D900C/D901C (aka Sager NP9262), Asus G70S-A1 (no longer available, maybe try ebay), and the Alienware M17x. Also keep in mind that because of the dual graphics, your battery life will be extremely poor (in the range of 30min to maybe a little over an hour).

  • actually I've seen others and I wasn't asking if the g50 hade sli but the g71 and if I'll be able to play crysis on the higest grafhics it will be worth it.

  • whats the differenxce in windows xp and windos vista when it comes to gaming?

  • XP will be just slightly better for gaming in the range of a couple to few fps, depending on the game.

  • oh well since im not that hardcore of a gamer i dont really care...alienware uses vista

  • I'm getting the g71:P

  • YO 1 qstion wud it run gear of war on max?

  • MM fps?

  • is everything on max ???

  • Asus G50V take Crysis on high except Shadows and Shaders quality on medium..

  • thanx man :)

  • i have g50v and i can play crisis on hi quality (but not HD) at full speed :) THE best laptop ever :)

  • If you read the description, it says the laptop was connected to an external monitor.

  • xDD

  • Clap clap xD

  • very low settings

  • how well does it run 1280x720 all medium with high shaders?

  • this laptop is well worth the price compared to other high-end gaming laptops like alienware, which is EXTREMELY overpriced..stats are the same, but asus g50 costs a lot less

  • What different got a1 and a2... and a2 cost more...?

  • The A1 version has 500gb 5400rpm HDD (2 x 250gb) and a double layer DVD burner.

    The A2 has 400gb 7200rpm (2x 200gb) and a bluray ROM.

  • wat is the difference between the g50 and g50v? and mind telling me the fps you would get by playing css on all settings high? ty alot

  • Fake. I have the A2 which has the faster hard drives and I can barely run it on all settings on medium at that same resolution.

  • I also forgot to mention that just because the A2 version has a faster rpm, it also has a smaller platter density; hence the performance difference is negligible. Also, all G50 comes default with a non-raid setup while I have mine set in raid-0. Either way, HDD shouldn't make a difference in gaming performance, only loading times. The type of OS and drivers you use will make a difference even in identical systems.

  • - Will this notebook be possible to send a 1080p signal to a TV screen using the HDMI output?

    - HDD with 7200 rpm provide more points at the "3D Mark"?

    Thanks!

  • yup, this laptop can be connected to a 1080p HDTV without any issues.

3d mark is primarily GPU dependent and to an extent, CPU dependent; so swapping out the hard drives will have little or no effect on the score. Keep in mind that a higher capacity 5400rpm drive will perform equal or better than a low capacity 7200rpm drive due to the higher platter density on the 5400 hdd.

  • im thinking of getting the asus g50v best buy build the only thing i wanna know know is good games for pc

  • get the one in newegg, better cpu, no tax

  • Even though I'm a fan of newegg, I would suggest buying any Asus laptop from GenTechPC. I have purchased many laptops from them and each time they have provided me with the best customer service. GenTech also adds the extra level of protection in case you need help troubleshooting any computer issues as well. Prices are also cheaper than newegg :)

  • How many fps's do you get??? above 50?? less than 30??

  • watch the video in high quality, and you can see fraps is showing the FPS in yellow text in the top left corner

  • The game was played in XP, so it's directX 9.0

As for the comparison between the G50V-A2 vs the Qosmnio F55, the F55 will surely be more powerful, but that comes with a cost - size and weight. It's MUCH thicker compared to the Asus, not to mention the lower resolution screen and smaller HDDs. Having a larger chassis will naturally increase the thermal capacity of the laptop, hence a more powerful GPU can be added.

  • Mhm, that's probably what I wanted to hear. Big and heavy- not good. Especially considering I might have to carry this around with me all the time in university. Besides, the build quality of the ASUS g50v I hear is very good, and besides I like ASUS a lot after my G1s. So, yeah, everyone I ask and everywhere I look just point towards the g50v. Anyway, thank you for your advice and time, and I hope you enjoy having that monster around. Good day. =)

  • weakling, its not that heavy and its not that big either ;/

  • how would crysis run in directx 10? the same or worse? would it be playable with good settings with this laptop?

  • Btw, is this directX 9.0? Oh, and thank you for your awesome review back on notebookreview!

  • The A2 or the Qosmio F55, that is the question. I like the ASUS over the Qosmio when considering every aspect; especially the build quality. The ONLY thing that's pushing me towards the Qosmio is the 9700m GTS. You think ASUS would eventually fit in a better GPU for just around the same price onto one of their laptops in the near future?

  • Thanks for the comments :) It sure is a nice gaming notebook, but the design/style may not appeal to everyone.

  • i really want this laptop

  • nice vid eporium it's me red dragon from the forums got some nice vids up :D

  • very stable for a notebook... nice
