  • I'm glad they took a chance at the end, to go back to the beginning. Laura Roslin was so closed off and had a heart of steel because she had a death sentence, plus the burden of saving humanity was on her back. To go backwards to show a real woman who at one time lived her life, had a family and an open heart added more depth to the character. It killed the cliche that power women have to be so alone or lonely. Because in the end we found out that isn't true. She is still my favorite. Mary rulez

  • Ok, let me break it down. I love Mary McDonnell as Laura Roslin. For 5 years, she was the one above all others that I had an emotional connection to. Plus for a woman in her 50s, she's gotta be one of the sexiest ladies on tv period. BUT, these family scenes were pointless and irrelevant to the finale. They didn't shed any new light on Roslin's character - it wasn't even as if she were having to deal with these memories/flashbacks in the present. Plus her sisters look more like her daughters!

  • I don't know about pointless... I thought the scenes with her family explained how she could be so collected as a character directly after the fall of the Twelve Colonies. Laura had already lost everyone that she cared about in the car crash. Her world had already ended... she was alone and it changed her, helped her to be tougher, etc. Their deaths pushed Laura in the direction of Adar, which lead to her being 43rd in line of succession and then elected as President.

  • Without Bill Adama and those visions of Elosia on the basestar, Laura would have let Baltar bleed to death.

    Why?

'Cos she'd locked her heart up and buried it to be a good Prez. But if Gaius had died, then Laura would have died with him. The guilt would have consumed her... 'moved her cancer right to her heart'.

  • So the scenes with her family showed what set Laura off on the path of becoming President, losing herself in the process. But, they also linked to the Laura who had learned to love again, to care about people. So, in a way these scenes were pivotal, because they showed her character coming full circle. 'All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again.'

    But what do I know.

  • yea it was nice to see her look so healthy

  • i love this scene to.i agree she does look gorgeous.
