These are all so damn funny and true! ER docs are just triage nurses that haven't seen their patients yet and have no idea how to practice medicine without radiology holding their hands. I know I've worked 1000's hours in ERs and now I am an interventional radiologist
A lot of ER staff, esp. younger ones, these days over utilise and abuse the use of CT's. Quite a few don't even exercise any clinical judgements before ordering the studies. Talking about wasted healthcare $.
The fear for malpractice suits is partially responsible for all this.
I love it when the order reads something like " Ct head and Maxface to R/O Trauma". I used to joke with the Dr.'s and call them and ask if they got hit in the face or head. If they said yes I'd ask why we needed the scan b/c we just confirmed that they had trauma...
@jesusisadouche lol i work in radiology and thought this was genius, i wish i could say that stuff to a MD when he asks for bullcrap exams like this. in the real world, youd get fired though
