Hiya! Here is my list =) 1. The Green Mile 2. Crazy/Beautiful 3. Titanic 4. White Chicks 5. When a man loves a woman 6. Set if off 7. Bruce Almighty 8. 10 things i hate about you 9. Grease 10. Coctail
I remember having a VCR tape of Back To The Future that my dad taped off the tv. I must have watched that three hundred times. I'm still not tired of it. Some others are Spaceballs, Monty Python's Holy Grail, Raiders Of The Lost Arc, A Christmas Story, Jaws and Alien. Another movie I always watched when I was a kid was Starship Troopers, which I also had on VHS. I remember watching that to death when I was probably 8 years old. Weird, considering all the nudity and violence.
Haha - The good ol' recorded movies off TV days! My dad used to do the same thing, too! I remember when he bought his first VCR back in the mid 80s for like $400 I think! It's hard to believe how much they cost back then. He had so many movies recorded off HBO. He actually still has some of those old tapes somewhere. Memories!
Back to the Future used to be on my list but I'm not sure why that changed. It's one of THE most fun movies of the 1980s (maybe ever).
For me, the ones that come to mind right away are "9 to 5" and "Office Space" (yikes, I'm sensing a trend already). Not sure right now what else I'd put on the list. "Casual Sex" and "Foul Play" are the only others I can think of right now.
Back to the Future ROCKS! I think I've seen 9 to 5 a long time ago, and parts of Office Space. I've heard that Office Space is good, but I just haven't gotten around to watching it yet. Maybe I will now.
Here's my eclectic little list: Night Of The living Dead it's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World Goodbye Mister Chips Look Who's Coming To Dinner The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly The Poseidon Adventure (The original) The Magic Box The Blob The Gumball Rally The Meaning Of Life
Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Pulp Fiction. The Sting. Goodfellas. Plan 9 from Outer Space. Casablanca. Fear and Loathing in Los Vages. The Blues Brothers. Ghost Busters. The Godfather 1&2 I'm sorry but the godfather just popped in right at the end, and I actually like the second more than the first, so I had to put in both and act like it's one 6 hour long movie.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is a weird movie, but I like it! I am a huge fan of 80s movies, but for some reason I really didn't care for Ghostbusters.
*holds breath in awe*..."didn't care for Ghostbusters"...that's not even in my vocabulary!...still, I can see how some might find the "dry" comedy not so funny
I agree with you on Field of Dreams. But that's where we part company. I'll add Two for the Road, The Haunting of Hill House (the original B&W), The Grapes of Wrath, A Christmas Story, All 3 LOTR, A Clockwork Orange, St. Elmo's Fire and almost anything with Johnny Depp.
In response to SuperTrooper10, all of yours are quite old and all of them sooooo! good!!!. I have seen them all, and all more than once...and had forgotten how much I love each of them. Dr. Strangelove knocked my socks off...a comic take on the atomic showdown during the early 60's between the US and Russia....but the director held something more serious and intense for the ending that never fails to touch. As the bombs drop, Vera Lynn and Chorus sing "We'll meet Again" and it is devastating.
gooines, monstersquad, scarface, the last dragon, dazed and confused, shawahank redemption, Batman, Back to the future 2, weird science, and ferris buellers day off. Goonies is the greatest movie ever made and if anyone disagrees they need to remove their head from their ass.
An opinion is a belief that may or may not be backed up with evidence, but which cannot be proved with that evidence. It is normally a subjective statement and may be the result of an emotion or an interpretation of facts; people may draw opposing opinions from the same facts.
Just off the top of my head Drop Dead Gorgeous Serenity 5th Element Ace Ventura When Nature Calls Battlefield Earth Star Trek Nemisis Run Fat Boy Run Dude Where's My Car Alien Resurrection Stranger Than Fiction
my top 1 Shawshank Redemption 2 Silence of the Lambs 3 Apocalypse Now 4 One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 5 A Clockwork Orange 6 12 Angry Men 7 Taxi Driver 8 Dr Strangelove 9 Psycho 10 The French Connection
Love your movie taste! Several of those are among my favorites too. Have watched Dazed and Confused and The Goonies many times. Couple of more recent movies I enjoyed and have seen more than once are "Year One" with Jack Black, goofy and it borders almost on sacrilege, but with 1 great line and scene after another. Also "500 Days of Summer", almost a chick flick, but not quite...love the voice over, Tom's learning how things really are and a priceless ending...but then I'm easily entertained.
Didn't care for Year One. Harold Ramis disappointed me. He usually makes really funny movies but I think he allowed the actors too much room for improv where it felt almost forced. The first half of the movie was hit-and-MISS while the other half wasn't bad. BTW alot of ppl dislike National Treasure but puzzles, US History, and Harvey Keitel = my kind of movie
Here's my list: (in no order) - Kill Bill - Pulp Fiction - The Dark Knight - Beaches (I know, I'm such a girl) - Finding Nemo - Forrest Gump - The Muppet Movie - The Silence of the Lambs (omg..what does this say about me?!) - The Breakfast Club - All About Eve ~ C
1. night of the living dead
2. grand theft parsons
3. blow
4. edie and the cruisers
5. all the presidents men
6. the original planet of the apes movies
7. escape from alcatraz
8. the terror
9. almost famous
10. 21

A Christmas Story is, indeed, a classic! I could never really get into LOTR. It's just not my kind of movie, but we all have our own tastes. :-)
St. Elmo's fire is great, and so is Johnny Depp! He's originally a Kentucky boy like myself! :-)
