  • Does your controler need to be powered with an AC adaptor to control the mopho? I have a 12v/ 1.25A adaptor, does it work with it without burning up anything? I have the mopho and that same controller :)

  • HI, great demo. Are you playing through some kind of reverb unit on the leads?

It sounds like there is reverb on them, and I'm wondering if the Mopho has an analog reverb inside it? As its upoosed to be all analog.

    Thanks

  • @jgk381 The Mopho has no internal effects; I am using a Lexicon MX200 effects unit.

  • I really love the analog sound. I know it's the matter of preference and digital has more space for creating crazy sound but I enjoy the analog organic tone. I am simply enjoying listening to this just like people enjoy listening to acoustic guitar. Nice video as well

  • Are there empty banks to save patches? I'm wondering if you could save multiple variations of one preset to different banks.

  • for the price hard to complain picked one up used for 220$ but god why yellow dave? ill be doing my best to steel wool off the face plate colors- just like waldorfs tragic color choices.

  • if i am new to the synth world are there any drawbacks to this amazing device and if i play a korg sv-1 can i use that as a MIDI controller?

  • @dfrench80 Any keyboard with MIDI ports can be used to control it. Only real drawback is shortage of knobs for patch editing, but there is editing software for your computer that works realy well.

  • love the mopho and it is cheap but the only bad thing is it sounds so good and you always want to play more than one note at a time...... which means tetra-more money.....

  • I really love all your videos - any good theremin type sounds on the mopho?

  • @toadmanxtro It's like an adept programmer could coax them out.

  • are the oscillators digitally controlled? like a DCO

  • @KaslarProductions voltage i believe.

  • sweet! I really want one....... I love that Rubber Rez sound.... Its unlike any sound I've heard.

  • i'm looking at them too, but before you commit, check out the Tetra! Its also made by DSI, and, unless its out of budget, its a great choice. It's only about half an inch bigger, and it has 4 voice multi-timbrality. Just sayin:D

  • @simon12332

DCOs, not VCOs....still fully analog, though.

  • he pushed a red button. Missles away

  • @DekriteN09 Fat Man or Little Boy?

  • Push the red button :) push it :-D

  • It is connected to my iMac.

  • I've never noticed any latency.

  • I have a 5 year-old PC and I have never had any latency issues with MIDI keyboards.

I'm using a (kinda inexpensive) M-Audio "Firewire Solo" interface and an Axiom 49.

  • it's not midi latency i'm afraid of i suppose, forget what i said. It's audio latency i have a problem with. It's just that the macs i've dealt with deal with audio latency and stuff.

I don't know why i even mentioned midi latency, yeah PC's are fine as far as midi goes. It's just the response from VST's i don't like. On macs it's fine though. My pc IS probably seven years old though lol.

  • @Biopharmer try getting a decent audio interface with ASIO low latency drivers. or try ASIO4ALL freeware drivers. Should be better with ASIO

  • @keybdwizrd What is your usb/midi keyboard there? is it sub-100 $?

  • @Cds56 It's a 25-key M-Audio Oxygen v2 controller. I believe the current model is a bit more than $100.

  • great playing :)

  • WOW! with an external controller, this would've to be the best thing in the world for its price!

I'm so gonna hook this to my shs-10!

  • I'm seriously going to pic this up man, I'll use it for noise and all other kinds of synth music man. thanks for your awesome demos of this wonderful synth

  • You're welcome - enjoy it!

  • I've got an Evolver, which I love, but I'm going to have to get one of these as well. DSI builds some awesome synths, the analog sound is GREAT!

  • what keyboard is that? it is a good one?

  • It's just a little 25-key M-Audio keyboard controller. Nothing special, but it works.

  • whoa! how much is that awesome thing? can it be connected to any keyboard via midi cables?

  • $399 USD. Check online music stores. Any keyboard that has MIDI output.

  • This thing is amazing. Does it have any organ or EP patches?

  • Yes, understanding that this is an analog monosynth that wasn't necessarily designed to play organ or EP sounds.

  • Sounds very good. Push it!

  • my oddysey can hear that and it's giving me THAT look.. like.. "you think that young little petite thing is hot huh?"

and i'm like "oh sure, baby, but just think.. i'll let you plug into it's filter.. ehhhh? yah know.. spice up our relationship a little..." christmas bonus in bright yellow coming soon ...

  • The Odyssey is a great synth - I had one many years ago and wish I had one today.

  • so what do i do when christmas comes an the mopho steps in and the ody gets jealous.. i mean.. she will be jealous.. you cant deny that. your video is enough for my arp to start annoying the nieghbors with it's noise (which has been quite nice since this video came out and it's been reminding me of it's worth) . how do i assure the arp that it's my # 1 after this?

  • You dont because the Andromeda reigns supreme! MWAHAHAHA

    *runs off into the blackness*

  • sounds awesome! player and equipment

  • :-D

ive onyl had to deal with him once, wehn he sent me a free chip upgrade to the evolver i then owned- it was one of the early batch- it was a bit dodgy in terms of midi implementation and so on. He's a legend, and really down to earth...the guy more or less invented midi!

  • Yes - he is a legend in the industry, up there with Bob Moog. Major contributions across many years.

  • michael, level with me, have you got some kind of tie in deal with dave smith going on?

  • I don't really know Dave Smith, but he seems to be a nice, talented fellow. I like his synthesizers, and he seems to like my keyboard videos. :)

  • probably cus you do a good job at selling his product for him, u make me want this thing

  • keybdwizrd is just showing it like it is with a good player. he helped me decide to get a virus Ti as well as this soon. maybe 2 :)

  • Hi Michael!

    But its pure analog or...?

    Hi Max

(Plz remember my message in facebook!)

  • yes, analog...

  • I realy love this sound

    and nicly played of course

  • wicked

  • what is this ? is it new ?

  • Info went up on the Dave Smith Instruments website yesterday.

  • Has some Nice Warm sounds. Nice addition to a compact studio/Mobile set up. . . Baloc

  • I wasn't excpecting that depth of sound from it .. . I was wrong. Nice Demo

  • they weren't out for another 4 days?

  • DSI is shipping now...

  • sweet, I THOUGHT

  • hey keybdwizrd, is that cool little device connected via midi cables? and how much did it cost?

  • Yes, MIDI cables.... the Mopho is about $400 USD...

  • Sounds great and a brill demo.

  • thank you!

  • is this similar to the Evolver?

  • Well, I haven't played an Evolver, but it is an analog monosynth...

  • Seems like a cool little unit. How does it go with motion & pads?
