@daniyalbasketball Yea battery life went from 3 hours to 1 hour in one year! and I have had problems with the displa sent it in and they took out m hdmi as well an they broke my lid. I was just like fuck you dell. Then i took it to a local computer repair person who reparied every thing cept the hdmi. So I am never going to get a dell ever again. Unless I hear a good customer service story.

No so far. I recorded 4 concurrent tracks and 6 consecutive tracks without an issue. Using a MultiMix 16 USB 2.0 and CuBase LE 4.

It's great at everything but working right unless you spend over $1000 on it. I got one, and it's beautiful, but Vista is shit, the DVD burner is BEYOND terribal, and it likes to stop working randomly when you're trying to burn a disk. -_-

Yea I would say about a deck of cards. And the battery life is

6 cell: ~3 hours

9 cell: ~5-6 hours

The battery life depends on if you watch a video or is it in sleep mode or the illuminated keyboard on.

I have a brand new studio 17, with a 9 cell. Works really well! If I surf the web casually it goes up to 7 hours 11 mins. If I watch a movie it goes all the way up to 5 hours 2 mins. Pretty decent for a 17.3" core i7 beast.

Ive filled the hard drive and it still runs smoothe as when i got it!

its tough, durable, and filled with handy features!

Its really quiet, brilliant battery and has neer crashed on me :D

The touch buttons are soooo handy! especially using windows media player.

I use a variety of programmes including music recording and gaming. all games so far work perfectly!, gta IV is a bit slow thow :(

Its good for school and has great WI FI. I dont kno about gaming though. I got the intergrated graphics card and it isnt that great for gaming (especially newer games)

i have the studio 17 with the default gfx card (256mb ati hd3650) and it runs fallout and fear2 on high. However on fallout i have to run it at a lower resolution to the highest (1440x900) to prevent lag, but that probably also has something to do with my CPU.

Depends on if you bought the backlight feature or not. If you did u press Fn and either the right or left arrow key (at the same time) to turn on the keyboard backlighting

you should be able to right click on the desktop / Personalize / and play around with the settings in there , if not succesful then try and see if there is anything about it in the manual or on the internet like a "online Manual"

Actually, Im not the guy who made the video. Also, to answer your question, yes it can be upgraded to 4gb, but you have to be confident in opening up your laptop. The dell studio is also differant from other notebooks because it uses a all in one panel on the bottom so if you dont know much about computers i think you are better off just leaving it at 2gigs. You dont really need 4gigs anyway, two should be good enough.

I recomend looking into some tutorial videos. If you are buying I recomend 2, 2gig dimms runing at 667mhz b.c you wont really need anything faster and make sure its notebook RAM and DDR2 because DDR and SD ram wont work in your notebook. Otherwise, brand does not really matter

You can take it into an authorized Dell dealer and buy some more ram there and they should install it for you and your warrenty wont be void , this however , might be a bit more costley then the DIY stuff

The speakers arent the greatest, compared to average Laptop speakers, they go pretty loud but they start getting distorted at 70%. There isnt as much bass as there should be, but they arent as bad as people make them out to be. (BTW dont litsen when people say that HD Audiology upgrade makes it better, it actually is just a audio managment software) This isnt really a problem for me because when im at school i dont crank it up over 70% and when im at home I use external speakers or headphones

If you are dealing with Media I recommend you get 17 inch notebook with at least a 2.00 GHz processor and 3 gb ram. Other than that the rest depends on your price range and personal prefrence.
