Reminds me of my grandma. She called me all kinds of lovely names while I was keeping her cigarette free. ;) One time I swear she pimped herself to the old man next door for a cigarette.
I understand your reasons, & I think what you are trying to do shows that you truly love your mom. The problem is, this isn't your decision. If she doesn't want to quit, you cannot force her. I know it is hell to watch a loved one suffer, but all you will do by trying to force this issue is destroy the relationship you have with your mom. Fried scallops aren't healthy, either, by the way. ;) it's a hard position we're in with older parents. Hang in there, love.
