I hate apologists too, but this guy doesn't understand law very well. The U.S. Government isn't violating the establishment clause in any way. The first amendment states:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"
So for the clause to be violated, congress would have to pass a law favoring one religion over another, which hasn't happened. A memo instructing people how to handle a book isn't an act of congress.

Part 3: One last point. I have no doubt the Quran is full of crazy stuff and calls to violence. But I know for a fact that it also commands respect for people of different faiths, and various takes on The Golden Rule, which virtually all faiths embody. I hate apologists too, but this guy doesn't understand law very well. The U.S. Government isn't violating the establishment clause in any way. The first amendment states:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"
So for the clause to be violated, congress would have to pass a law favoring one religion over another, which hasn't happened. A memo instructing people how to handle a book isn't an act of congress.

Part 3: One last point. I have no doubt the Quran is full of crazy stuff and calls to violence. But I know for a fact that it also commands respect for people of different faiths, and various takes on The Golden Rule, which virtually all faiths embody. I could just as easily cherrypick the Bible and the Torah for outrageous, violent statements. Those things are there, but calls to love one another are there too. No one religion is perfect - let's just all try to bring out the best in each other.

Didn't you muslims believe that real Qur'an is "Inscribed on a guarded tablet"(sura 85:22) word of Allah (56:80, 69:43), the "clear truth and the best explanation" (sura 25:33) which is "explained in detail"..(sura 6:114) with "a distinct explanation of all things" (sura 12:111) that was sent down "to make everything clear" (sura 16:89) & not to perplex the readers!
So, Qur'anic verse 5:51 is also Allah's words (Not Muhammad's words)..& Historical Context Doesn't matter!
