What I found funny is that japan loved this game on the famicom despite the password system and weird graphics while it isn't as popular here (US) with a save battery and enhanced graphics.
wow I always thought DQ/DW 1 had a Ultima look(and feel) to it(this was before I knew that DQ was inspired by Ultima and Wizardry) but this version truly resembles the pre-guardian Ultima's more than the us version, probably becuase of the way the tiles shift when you move and the characters always look towards the screen irregardless of the direction they move, still classic game
Do you believe that I finish this game in the Japanese version?
Even though I didn't understand Japanese, I managed to finish it.
I do remember writing some symbols and trying a lot of items until I made the bridge; I even didn't know that there was a bridge to be made in a certain area. It was really Mission Impossibe. I was really lucky...
Tell me please if there is an English version. I'll be happy to play it again to understand the story.
Aside from the choppy scrolling [which plagues all MSX games], this actually looks a hell of a lot better than the Famicom Dragon Quest. The US version was graphically enhanced, being released two years later. The sound is ass though... I know the MSX can do better than that... he must have the sound card misconfigured.

Just played this on the nes. A fun romp. Always liked the length in this one the best.

Unlike MSX FF, I DQ is worst on this system :S I was looking for something a lil' bit better. DQ is a great game nonetheless!

@TrueAdam DQ is way better on the MSX than the Famicom, thought the NES was superior to both.

MSX版は初めて見ましたが、微妙にファミコン版と違っていて面白いですね!
