thats what im trying to say to u because of the matchup, thats why he changed, read the comment properly before you get all defensive man no one is hating here. what part of 'its just the knowledge of match' do u not understand? what i was also trying to say was if fei long was over playd like ryu these days and ryu the opposite im pretty sure the match between the two will change if u go to some ssf4 guides like option select the match is actually in ryu's favour although i disagree like u.
you're just now noticing that? Mago is arguably the best SSF4 player in the world. He blew right through Sako, Daigo, Mochi, and Momochi. That says a whole lot bud
i really want to see daigo bounce back but fuck he is slipping, and it's been going on for a while. what's mainly killing him is that he cannot learn from his mistakes: look at how many times he tried a focus that was obviously going to whiff and mago punished it with the dash punches damn near every time, stuff like that's been happening in other matches too. i'm not saying it's impossible at this point but fuck man, get a grip.
oh and lol @ ryu being middle tier, he's still high
What I love about Mago is that he shows no fear and his execution is 2nd to none. I think it was either Gootecks or Arturo that quoted Tokido as saying Mago wins because he's not scared of any player. I think Momochi has this quality as well. Kudos to Mago!
Daigo's actin like a cornered wounded animal gettin super desperate voiding his bowls and shit. What happens when a top tier player no longer wields a top tier character. They lose. Frequently.
@hardgayramen4ever you make it seem like mthe only reason Daigo lost was because of ryu. He lost because mago played better than him overall, not because of ryu's nerfs. ryu is still one of the top teir characters so thats no excuse.
look at the new ssf4 chars, almost all of them have moves tat counter projectiles, i think the reason is the designer always use ryu, being 1 of the oldest n popular char as the main "counter it" model in desgning new chars. if 1 planning to win something big, then he should dumped this outdated char along with ken or even akuma.
First Andre Now this. My heart breaks. I wonder whats happening with Daigo..Loss of Confidence? Or is Mago just beasting. Either way is sad to see daigo get outplayed. Maybe its time for a new charactor? Who knows.
@Timbaland101 What the fuck are you talking about? Mago has been one of the top players for awhile, Daigo has never been the absolute best at SSF4 in Japan. Hope off the dick man.
@C3TN nah, ryu got nerfed and his style is way too predictable now. Daigo through a random srk, that anyone could have baited out. Ryu needs to throw in the towel now, and Daigo needs a new beast to use.
@dragonmaster951753 ryu still have all tools, they just removed bullshit trade ultra and reduced every characters damage except dhalsims. but would be cool if he used guile more
@C3TN Yea and after he lost trades and damage he basically became Ken. That was Ken biggest downfall was that he couldn't trade and he didn't do as much damage as ryu did, not that he is nerfed he is like the old ken
@TheFinalGoose its not a good reason to switch... but this match is one. Ryu being OverPlayed by several people ine entire world, another reason. Most of the elite players keeping up and learning your character and style inside out, another reason. The list goes on...
@TheFinalGoose How is that not a reason? This game is about mindgames and set ups and if your opponent knows what all you can do how can you perform very well?
@TheFinalGoose dragon is right bro, if u watch canada cup daigo goes for guile and he wins the fei long match with mago playing. its obvious that ryu is being over play so most ppl know the ryu match well. u said something about theres on 10 in the world who ryu is on daigo's level, well we can safely assume that 80 percent of them are in japan one in england and the other one is air. and remeber daigo guile is now where near the level of his ryu its just the knowledge of matchup
Am I the only one who gets the feeling that Daigo realizes he lost the match, and was just spending games/rounds getting a feel for what WOULD work in the future?
Don't get me wrong, he DEFINITELY got outplayed in this match. Mago is such a beast with frames and Fei. Still, there's this point where the match is 3-7 or so where you can visibly see Daigo start doing totally new stuff to try and catch Mago.
IMO this is the perfect illustration of tiers. two characters being played at near complete potential by the best players, which will win? the one that has more propensity to win. ryu is often rated mid to mid-high tier. super fei is high/top tier.
mago played perfect. daigo played almost perfect, but ryu just doesnt have the speed or the risk aversion to come out on top on average.mago played better than daigo, mago wins. for daigo to beat mago in this matchup, he has to play more than perfect
man every time ryu shot a hadoken right next to feilong i was yelling "EX REKKA!! EX REKKA!!" but i guess that it is the finals and you don't wanna mess up.
Not to be basis on the fight, but daigo lost most of the matches due to him using the same fighting style while his opponent used a new character and had knowledge on how Daigo played. Mago SHOULD have won very easily (which he does) becuase everything was tipped into his favor. Daigo is still a great player, but everyone is getting new styles while Daigo is still trying to play the same old style, in other words he is getting outdated
@dragonmaster951753 I think I see where your coming from but i think Daigo knows the match-up too well to see fei-long as a 'new' character. I dont even think it had much to do with Daigo's play-style but rather mago using fei-long's awesome ground game to its fullest/near fullest potential which in my opinion is a little better than ryu's.
@Cayjin i agree with you when you say his ground game was better, it definitely was, but daigo has only starting playing Fei long since Super came out, while mago has been playing Ryu since the original came out, last year. That is a whole year of experience of knowing the matchup under Mago's belt that he has over Daigo. Plus, back in vanilla, Mago was still giving Daigo a run for his money, so know that Mago has new tools, and the MORE matchup experience it should only be expected that he wins
@dragonmaster951753 But same could be said that daigo has over a years more experience with his chosen character, since mago has only been playing fei since super came out aswell.
@lethalewis That is true, but you must also take into account the skill of the player. Its not like Mago just came out of nowhere learning the game, he just had to learn the basic with the characters and allow 2 years of experience to do the rest. A bit of trial runs and random online matches will get your new character up to your other character in only a few months
Ummm no. Daigo vs Jwong's fei at Season's Beatings 4 I think?
This is what happens when a great player no longer has a top tier character. Two middle tier chars battled it out and mago outplayed him in footsies and zoning. The was times when Daigo was just jumping backk HK in the corner.
Daigo beat him in the FT3 earlier RR yet Mago adjusted and just plain outplayed daigo. FT10s show how good the player truly is and thats from daigo's own mouth. Godd job going 1-4 Daigo.
@xBokkiNx Daigo beating Jwong's fei i haven't heard of, but i am only stating information. I know for a fact Daigo got outplayed in this match, very much. Mago came out CLEARLY on top, i was merely giving my thoughts as to why Daigo wasn't keeping up. Mago is a true beast and it doesn't help that Daigo (insert all information stated above) isn't helping him
@ButtZilla1031 and evo is the biggest worldwide tournament for fighting games..so you failed..buh its obv he does not give 100% and other tournaments..god knows why
@ButtZilla1031 actually i think mago mains fei long, i haven't seen him use sagat since SSF4 came out, keep in mind, he used sagat in vanilla cause he couldn't use fei long
thats what im trying to say to u because of the matchup, thats why he changed, read the comment properly before you get all defensive man no one is hating here. what part of 'its just the knowledge of match' do u not understand? what i was also trying to say was if fei long was over playd like ryu these days and ryu the opposite im pretty sure the match between the two will change if u go to some ssf4 guides like option select the match is actually in ryu's favour although i disagree like u.
