VERY cool part of the show! love the DCI BLAST! show that played that same tune! wish my band director had that arrangement...it would be so fun to play for our marching band
i'm well aware of that. but i'm sure they were in one once... i'm just stating that Blast did a show with a very similar arrangement and that i enjoy it......
If I'm not mistaken the guy who came up with the concept for Blast was the director of Indiana Star, a DCI corps. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think most if not all the members of the original cast of Blast did play in a DCI corps at one point or another...
It's Star Of Indiana, and everyone I've met from Blast was usually on my staff in Drum Corps, but I'm not sure that that is a safe asumption. Alot of people from Star Of Indiana stopped marching after they left DCI and formed Brass theatre, which later became Blast.
It was I think their 9th year, and the show that year was ridiculous, there was no way that they could've lost. And Malaguena has been played about 30 times in dci.
It was the last song they did in Blast! In the Red Sections. DCI Blast! was originally Brass theater in which Donnie Vandoren helped transition them into Blast! Before doing that he was Brass Caption Head for Garfield Cadets(and Cadets of Bergen County), Casper Troopers and Star of Indiana, as well as advisor for Bluestars and Carolina Crown.
In 1993 Star of Indiana was beaten out by The Cadets, in what many considered to be one of the most controversial Championships of all time. After placing 2nd, Star of Indiana folded into what became DCI Blast!
