I never was aware of a standard tuning either. I tune my old ibanez seven string (the mahogany SG looking one) down a half step and then drop the B down into drop-A so I can drone lower notes. Often, I tune the higher strings to an open Ab minor chord. The looks you get....
You guys are full of shit on tunings, my band in particular uses drop F, Thou uses F sharp. Yours is the type of closed mindedness that builds the idea of genres.

You're welcome to find this, or any other genre label ridiculous, but I find it wonderful as it, like an inspired cover art, gets me into an aesthetic ideal for a complimentary listen.
