  • wow thank you very much for the hard work you had on this clip it was really worth it!!...:)

  • Little high, little low...

  • Holy Elmer Fudd...

  • Auto tune effect, the same of the popstars, hahaha, fucking funny!!!

  • @glassoniongirl64 I thought Hugh Laurie was Paul McCartney

  • @Kbvldz What is McCartney's name? This is blasphemy.

  • Fry's extra-slowed down voice sounds like a fart... ;)

  • hey jude is in F . this is C! silly!

  • Hmm, the title could've at least mentioned that it's VHS autotuned (and yes, I'm coining that phrase now)

  • Is that guy Paul mcartny no

  • @Kbvldz What do you mean?

  • I like to believe that that's just how Stephen Fry sings.

  • @Aervane lol, not stephen fry

  • @inroywetrust34 No, I mean, Stephen sounded the same as he did in the skit, because his voice was just slowed down already. So I prefer to believe that that's just how he sounds.

  • Oh goodness, what year is that from?

  • hahahaha omg when stephen came on, i burst!

  • @deepbluePee

Dosen”ț Fry have jewish ancestors ?

  • Ever since I have watched him play his character "House", his singing seems sarcastic lol

  • I think he sounds kinda nice...

  • The vocals were recorded beforehand, pitch shifted, then mouthed, while he played piano in the right octave. Not many other explanations unless you believe stephen fry is capable of singing like the devil.

  • @swordseraph I'm afraid that's bullshit. Playing the part an octave lower wouldn't offset the chipmunk part and this has definitely been digitally screwed around with...even an octave lower the piano part wouldn't sound this crap.

  • @thegazzlar97

Original clip, Hugh played the piano quite low, so it would seem. And yes it would sound this crap.

  • You ruined the piano part.....

  • @thegazzlar97 No he didn't. Hugh actually plays the song an octave lower that normal to offset the "chipmunk" effect.

  • He's so GOOD! lol

  • why is House singing a rolling stones song?

  • @fatlaserbunnys Rolling Stones..?

  • @fatlaserbunnys the Beatles, not the Rolling Stones.

  • @fatlaserbunnys WTF WTF WTF XD Beatles, not Rolling Stones ! XD

  • I'm usually very responsive to English humor, but I just don't see what is funny at all about this video??? And I like Hugh as well, so we can rule out me not thinking it's funny because I'm not a fan.

  • @Outlawbiker1971 The original was sped up to twice the speed, giving it a 'chipmunk' effect. Hence why the piano is played an octave too low.

  • OMG... this is so much funnier than the normal version because his voice got kinda shaky :D

  • Chipmunk version

  • so, what is the original version that appeared on a bit of fry and laurie? this, or the chipmunk-version?

  • @fauxgt Chipmunk version:)

  • I love england..but most of english people are so ugly ;)

  • Wonder what would happen if you did the same thing with one of the chipmunks

  • <3<3<3<3 House ! <3<3<3<3 !

  • the true original was sped up. this is just the sped up version, slowed down to sound like the original. that's why it sounds like he's underwater- the audio quality suffers with each adjustment

  • Is it a German accent?

  • stephen's so low i can barely hear him!!

  • Oh my God! It's House.

  • @jeffrey44 No, that happens to be Hugh Laurie.

  • "c'mon Jude!" jajajajaajaaja!

  • was the original in the chipmunk version?

  • @redheddd yep^^

  • Me Gusta.

    O~O

  • Thank you soooo much. I've wanted to hear this song in his normal voice for months. I guess I didn't search hard enough until now. :)

  • stephen fry sounds like a walrus

  • Now I know why the Brits were surprised to see him cast in a dramatic role! They love his comedy. I am sure they are missing him. I love House and will watch anything Hugh Laurie is in. It took me almost ...6 months and a repeat of Stuart Little with my grandson...to realize Stuart's dad was House! Thanks for the video. BTW, you are a computer genius. I have trouble getting my comments accepted. Didn't understand your instructions at all, but appreciated.

  • i love hugh hes amazing his career is fantastic think of all the things hes done! house, a bit of shtephen fry and laurie or watever and jeeves and wooster and he can play so many instruments and stuff hes very talented

  • I love this video - he is such a talented musician.

  • I like the "alright!"

  • The only way I can see it working is if the Beatles weren't as protective over the use of their own songs in the early 90's. George was still alive at the time, maybe that had something to do with it.

  • @Pegorian : O thats like saying the wrong two died first!

  • It suddenly occurs to me - where the hell did they get the money for this bit?!

  • I'ts funnier in chipmunk style! Nice video anyway! Good job

  • EWWWWWWWW TERRIBLE AUTOTUNE RETUNE SPEED

  • that piano sounds horrible haha

  • god job

  • The crowd laughing sounds like they are going to eat you D:

  • NICE JOB!

  • Lol the piano is like some subsound!

  • stephen sounds like a death metal singer.... but you know talented

  • @darthesgoobis123 My thoughts exactly :P

  • I think lowering the octave of the video dropped Stephen's voice out of the range of the human ear...

  • prefiero esta version que la version beattle xD

  • O, brilliant...

  • Mannnn those Brits can sing... and they're cute!!!! ;)

  • @etrefzger Well we're not all cute, or able to sing for that matter. Except in Wales, everyone in Wales can sing, it's freaky.

  • He sounds like a sheep.

  • @YooToobCanSuckIt

    "He sounds like a sheep"

Yeah, they used some kind of vibrato effect on his voice before they pitched it up, to make it sound even sillier.

  • @YooToobCanSuckIt

That's most likely either caused by what they used to produce the effect in the first place or just general decay of the videos over time.

  • yea how u did it makes sense, cuz the piano is really down pitch

  • LOL at stephen!!

  • Wow. Great job with the song. Sounds a little better now. :)

  • His voice is still awesome.

  • WOW! Well done!!

  • wow! I was not expecting to hear his accent so clearly in regular pitch. I've surprised!

  • on the dragg outs he sounds like a goat XD!!!! I love you Hugh!!!

  • He sounds a wee bit flat.

  • Stephen sounds like Nergal xD

  • Hugh is great as an actor, but as a singer, it's just terrible!!! This was for real or a joke?! He is totally out of tune!!!

  • @Luarrangel the video is out of tune so youtube cant claim for copyright, have you HEARD him sing?

search - you can't always get what you want by Band from TV

    he can sing..

  • @Luarrangel In the original version, he sang "chipmunk style", but in this video, it was edited so it would be in "normal" tune. So, what you here isn't exactly his real voice, it's not how he would sing. Listen to songs like "You can't always get what you want" by Band From TV, you'll here his real singing voice.

  • his work is just great, one of my favs personalities. got a lil bit lucky though

  • Haha! Oh you should make a version that changes Stephen's voice to normal. I want to know if its actually him singing or if they used Hugh's voice again. ;D

  • Laurie is better them Paul McCartney !

  • @jummiewhore Twój stary

  • @Krynia90 NO

  • @Krynia90 although it's a joke, you don't say that!

  • lol. Fry's voice part is so low you can't hear it at all in this slow down tape.

  • "ONE MOAR TIME! :D"

  • could you do a version so stephen's voice is right and see how hugh sounds then?

  • they should have house sing this

  • wow this is pretty clever its sounds proper like him...i didnt think it would

  • this is a joke isn't it?

  • yes it is.

  • Stephen Fry

    soz

i had to say hes very famous in the uk

  • He should be very famous in the US too.

He's better than most american comedic actors.

  • @TheBubu983 Oh he is very famous in the US. Trust me. XD House?

  • @TheBubu983

    Have you watched House?

    =D

  • @evanescent25 your an idiot

  • His name is Stephen Fry- just as big as Hugh.

  • Stephen's voice is worse! That's the most amazing part!

  • Whooo, you're a genious with computers.

  • The Yay in 1:37 is incredible, even on a lower tone its so high.

  • omg, stephen's voice is even more hilarious in this one than in the actual! I like how the audience laughter is lower now. wow.

  • Sugoi.

    Nice idea.

  • lol fry

  • sounds like he's underwater

  • 1:08 that 'Come on Jude' sounds so like his real voise XD

  • lol you cant even hear steven!

  • the piano is low....:(

  • im guessing auto tune is on 100 its osvous hes using it

  • he even has a beautiful voice! wow! thank you for uploading this!

  • This is really cool. Thanks for posting. Always wondered what it sounded like normally.

  • D: <3 His voice is amazing.

  • I agree, his voice is too good.

    he's exceptionally talented!

    Stephen fry too.

  • Can someone help me please? After reading through the comments im still confused. When recording, did Hugh Laurie actually sing it and they changed the tone of HIS singing voice, or did Hugh mime along to the tune which was already pitched up...? Any ideas, or is it obvious?!?! Thanks, x

  • Hugh sang it normally but he played the piano part lower than it should be so that when the BBC heigtened the pitch the piano would sound normal.

  • Thank you, but then what are the audience laughing at?? Please forgive my youthful ignorance!

  • It was originally in high pitch

  • Have you watched the video as it was aired? The pitch was altered so it sounded like it was being sung by a chipmunk. That's why you can barely hear steven in this, it was originally very low and in this video it's almost subsonic

  • In the version that was played to the audience of the TV show, Hugh's voice was really high pitched (try to find the original video, it's funny). The point of THIS video is just to see what it would sound like if he sang at a normal tone

  • it was pre recorded and they hightened the pitch, he was miming during the actual performance(y)

  • Look closely - there seems to be rather a lot more keys than there should be to his right... So Hugh is singing normally but playing the chords an octave lower, and then Auntie BBC for the sake of comedic effect has kindly pitch-shifted the piano to normal and Hugh to the realms of chipmunk.

Stephen's resounding ultra-baritone is either over-dubbed or on a separate microphone pitch-shifted to the realms of bullfrogs and angry motorcycles.

(Please re-read this in Stephen Fry's voice)

  • no, the person who put this vid on has made the pitch an octave lower on some software

  • Yeah right. I worked this out by the help of some softwares... Well my bad. I should've clarified. :( And here you go I've re-writed the info of this vid.

  • @xinyuActor you fucking retarded moron stop fucking up song mother fucker

  • haha thats soooo funny i love hugh laurie he is amazing but he is a real good singer

  • I think he looks more at ease --- singing this song, in comparison to some of his others.. As humble and self-conscience as Hugh Laurie is, a suppose --- knowing his actual voice isn't being heard --- he's more comfortable in this sketch, allowing himself to seem more relaxed, happier even, rather than trying to distract the audience by the look on his face... or maybe, as tired as I am this fine night, I'm simply over-analyzing and rambling off a load of rubbish.. -shrug-

  • I think you're right - to what extent I don't know, but there could well be some truth in it :)

  • If I ever met him, I'd say, "I love you!" Then give him a hug, and a kiss.

  • @davedaysx33 best comment ever!!

  • @davedaysx33 keep dreaming! haha, just joking :) i would certainly do the same :p

  • Super!

    I love his voice *_*

  • hes so cute XD

  • hahahahaha stephen's voice is even lower!!!

  • Haha he's so cute when he's acting silly x3

    And he's got a wonderful voice~

  • Interesting. So the question is.. what it originally sped up and he lip synced to the sped up version or if he really had some kind of thing that made his voice higher live?

  • this is lowtuned by a program

  • he is so freakin sexy!!!!!

    i love you hugh <3333

i'd die to if i ever met him!!!

    he's sooo awesome!!!!

  • dr. jude dude

  • he's not that bad,go hugh!!

  • He's actually quite a good singer, even when he's just taking the mickey

  • he i sreally good but he does sound better then this the editing kinda screwed it up

  • Yeah, I know, he's just so darn good at everything *swoon*

  • I'm freaking in love with him!!!!

    Hes SOOO AWESOME!!!!!

  • Me too!! His eyes are awesome (not to mention the rest of him lol)

  • OMG YES!!!

    hes soooo!!!! Sexy =P=P=P

BEAUTIFUL eyes, Amazing Messy hair, Awesome Face... =P

    Omg!!! so very swoonable =P=P

  • Definitely, not to mention the british accent, the piano playing, he wrote a bestseller and so much more. Mmmmm if I ever got to meet him (Especially with Stephen Fry too) I'd die happy lol

  • Omg i know i LOVE british accents <3<3<3

and YES OMG if i ever met him i would fucking DIE!!! <3<3<3!!!!

  • me too. I think I'd ask him "Where is the lid?" just not to squee as a classic fangirl... ;)

  • Do you reckon you could go the opposite way, get Stephen's proper voice, and then splice the two together somehow?

  • I think I could. but it'll take me some time. i'll upload asap.

  • I've tried, but unfortunately, when I step up the tone to a higher octachord, i found Stephen was not using his proper voice, so the effect comes out suck :(

  • Comment removed

  • Brilliant how the accent comes through lol

  • FlvConverter + cool edit pro + Windows Movie Maker. not too difficult:)

  • haha ppl who didnt watch the original one XP

  • the reason why people laugh is that the original clip is a bit higher in pitch...

    think... chipmunk o.-

this clip was lowered in pitch... amazing how the poster got hugh laurie's voice pitch to sound like his normal voice...

    sir.. i salute you ô.ó7

  • Actually I can but I don't need to prove it to anyone here and you can only handle with nice comments bu when the bad ones apear...

  • Oh, just have fun! I don't have hostility here! And, anyway, we all like Hugh Laurie, right? So we're all FRIENDS naturally! And I'll be glad if you could share your vid with me:) (forgive my poor English here:( )

  • hugh rulz LoL

  • sure. you can make a vid like this by yourself right now

  • he's a pretty good singer!
