There was an episode where Eve was using this weird slimy thing to make Angel be stuck in a perpetual nightmare, and he was going crazy with the thought of Spike stealing his spotlight and saving the world (after the episode Destiny with the Spike/Angel fight over the Shanshu chalice). The fairy was from this silly dream bit where Angel was dreaming that Spike had saved the world, and the fairy had come to reward him by restoring his humanity.
