  • I can't find anywhere online how the DNA sequencing turned out. Does anyone know? Was it the mummification process or the time that causes the DNA issue?

  • Like it..

  • i hear bob mummified his old jewish mother and he is collecting her social security checks.....fact

i like this clip but prefer brian wilson's taco bell black op's commercial

  • I always learn something new watching this guy. Its amazing he isn't a cable or History channel star. Amazing or a crime.

  • Chalk me up as yet another Brier fan. But I've always had a hard time accepting the idea that the ancient Egyptians thought the brain was "useless" and that you "thought with your heart". These people were as intelligent as us and when a soldier got a head injury or from a construction accident, and his mental faculties were compromised, the ancient physicians HAD to have made the connection. Also, I think the headrests were ceremonial, they knew that pillows/cushions were more comfortable.

  • Who knew I was eating mummified blueberries? xD haha

  • Brier's one of the best! I love how he explains history. One of my fave Egyptologists!

  • i read his book. Ancient Mummies. its good i learned alot.

  • A intelligent brilliant man. Just been around old, dead bodies a little to long.

  • Im trying to find one out of youtube for school. reoly if you found one, same video, different site.

  • Wow, this is amazing. Professor Bryer is my hero. I adore his lectures and enthusiasm, he really is amazing. I may be blind/visually impaired, but I so want to study Egypt (I'm not sure what a blind person can do, but it is my dream!).:)!

i think i'll get me a blind girlfriend..she wont know how hideous women find me..i couldnt laid in a whore house with a fist full of hundreds

  • I had Dr. Brier as a professor at Long Island University-- CW Post a few years back.... he's amazing. I teach sixth grade Social Studies now and I get to teach all about Egypt. I feel like I have so much to offer thanks to my experiences with Dr. Brier.

  • he is so fine and when he starts speaking about these kind of thing he gets so much in it and he is so excited

  • Where can I fond the video of when he mummified a person?

  • @1sunvol if you find it please tell me.

  • I am doing a mummification soon with a stillborn pig (right now we're in the research stage) and this just helped me greatly.

    Thanks.

  • I've been watching Brier's Egypt lectures from the Learning Company. He's just about the finest lecturer it has ever been my privilege to hear.

  • he's my teacher =D

    he's really good

  • I watched a lecture by Brier today in Northumberland. Lovely guy.

  • I remember seeing a special about this a long time ago on tv. Really nice to see this and get an update on what they've been doing with it.

  • one of the best teachers, and on a subject I like, ancient Egypt.

  • Well Bob, you certainly answered a lot of questions that I had. Something else I would like to know that wasn't mentioned, is :

How soon after death would the dead be mummified? Did it take place right after, like hours, or within a day or so?

Also, at what point did the mummy start to discolor to how the ancient Egyptian mummies looked?

  • where can i find the ACTUAL mummification vid? i know it was released by national geographic in 1994, labeled 'mr. mummy'

can't find it on the national geographic website, ebay, youtube...

  • I agree. Zahi Hawass is a fraud. Bob is the man.

  • Comment removed

  • I LOVE Bob Brier .....he makes me wanna study egyptology. So unlike Zawi Hawass who's so irritating.

  • @Bubu1969 I totally agree. Brier was the guy that inspired me to apply to study Egyptology, and now I am!

  • Cant get enouf of Bob...

  • Bob Brier explains everything in such a brilliant modest way. His enthusiasm for his subject is contagious.

  • @192939sh

I really couldn't agree more, he's been a really driving force in my own studies.

I just wish I had the means to thank him, he truly has been an inspiration and I can attest to what he claims within the lecture series he gave for the teaching company, ancient Egypt really is a place you can lose yourself within.

    Thanks Bob!
