@SwedishEpicTime you can use the UDK engine to code ps3/xbox games, for example: Gears of Wars trilogy is made with Unreal enginge 3 which basicly is the same enigne. However, to release the game on console you need a license from sony/microsoft and the whole procedure gets wierd cuase you cant test the game on your PC, instead you need to cross wire to the console so that you can run the test program on the console..if you got a group of people working on it its fine, but doing it alone is hell

Also, no CoD game has been made with any version of Unreal Engine; all modern ones are made with various versions of Infinity Ward's 'IW engine', and no previous ones were made with Unreal. The Wikipedia pages of all CoD games shows the engines they use. Wolfenstein 3D, often attributed as the first FPS, was made by id and not Epic. There is no factual accuracy in your comment.

I really wana make a game, and i have it all planned out. Its a semi story based survival game. If anybody here knows about parasitic wasps you will get it. It starts with scientists finding a new breed of reptile, and your wife is one of the scientists. the players wife says she is pregnent, and she gives birth to this reptile thing that she is super protective of. (Parasitic wasp springs to mind). She basicaly will do anything for her reptile, like billions of others infected. smart ZOMBIES!!!

@TripleR3D well the "cartoony effects" is a combination of cel shaded textures, custom models and postprocessing volumes. you can make anything in udk with a little modeling and scripting

Ubuntu has dropped the ball and slipped into stagnation. 25 year unix developer here, device driver code in the Data General archives from the late 80s so no windows fanboy, but you need to wake up and smell the coffee. It's game over for linux as far as gaming goes.

what I meant was UDK is not available to use natively on Linux and Epic has discontinued it support, although Unreal, UT, UT2003 and UT2004 were available as native linux versions. Epic has decided to remove linux support and linux removed epic. There is no stagnation - use Gentoo or Debian. Ubuntu was never meant to support linux - it was and IS Mark Shuttleworth hobby project. He invests more in condo than in ubuntu.

You have no trouble using linux for ANY graphic or GPU work if you use Nvidia hardware. Period.

AMD is garbage marketing(2 developers, no money for them when you purchase card, wild desire to give broken catalyst instead of opensource, ie opensource is strictly educational and legacy), Intel opensource is also unusable.

Nvidia ships blobs for windows too, so no problem. And there is wine(but you know it) for any DX crap. But in 10 years you have raytrace via opencl.
