this SD sound pretty bs. they are probelly some kind of big corporates who controls the democratic party. the big government party. this is the main reason i will stay republican and vote republican. the small government party
The SD's started when Nixon became president they wanted the people to have the some of the power but they never came. When the people didn't vote who they wanted to they created the SD so they can determined the election and dem's thought republicans stole the elections.
Once again, the MEDIA is creating a story where none exists. The super-delegates will RATIFY the popularly elected nominee. All this analysis of which super-delegates are supporting which candidate is BULLSHIT...it's hype to keep you glued to their network.
I agree the system is too flushed with money... and if public financing of all campaigns is the answer, only DEMOCRATS are fighting for Clean Election Laws.
I disagree. This is not a media created controversy. I have spoken with several super-delegates and they have the right to vote as they so choose. And both sides have been courting them. While many have gone to Clinton, they are starting to move toward Obama. Should be interesting.
One interesting point, if they are obligated to follow the voters, then what is the point of a superdelegate. They should simply scrap the system. Who knows, maybe they will.
Jack, thanks for the info-- I don't know why, but until this election, I don't even recall ever hearing the term "superdelegate".
Still, isn't this just another form of the Electoral college essentially? Just another archaeic system to help parties maintain control within their own parties? The fact that you can win a presidency with only a dozen plus states based on their electoral votes seems kind of... un-democratic, no?
no. the electoral college is what makes us a republic. We vote for a representative who votes for president. If we didn't have the electoral college california and new york would decide the election every year.
nobody voted the superdelegates into their position. they're just there. it's not the same, but you're right. it's not democratic.
stop the evil doer toy join thelast union!I have a plan thats clear ad fair that we can all know understand and defend!go to my web page to hear it thanks.
The electoral college also silences the votes of 37 other states when you can win the presidency with 13. Given this election already has some of the highest turnout in over 20, 30 years, I would say that perhaps if people knew that every vote counted (not just a majority vote to win electoral votes), people would in fact come out even more, knowing they have the first AND last say in who their leaders should be.
you cant say the SD's are the same as the Electoral College. There are to many differences from each other. One is that the EC counts the small states and county's while the SD's vote the candidate that they want when the voters didn't want the SD's candidate.
I am still very wishy washy with who to vote for, I am more so a democratic person, but then again the two people running for president within the democratic class make me think...Obama is in experienced, and Hillary's...well that speaks for itself. And then you have McCain, and i think i might actually vote republican, just because i can trust him. The other two are in a way, sketchy if you will. Oh well, I should just move to Canada :) Free Health Care.
Gee Jack, thanks for the insightful info. However, it seems that you continue to clamor and pretend that the voting system isn't fraudulent to begin with. Are you an apologist who excuses the 'weak points' of what you would no doubt otherwise pronounce the best democratic system in the world? Democracy is not even mentioned in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights, as you know. We are a Republic, and thus, the current system of fallible electrohacked quasi-voting that takes place is a joke. ;]
Check out Why Tuesday. It has become necessary to totally revamp our voting systems. Since they are national, the systems should be uniform, and equal for all. And a vote should count as a vote. It is 2008 not 10BC.
One vote doesnt make a difference. These "super" people can just cast the majority vote aside and give the nomination to whomever they choose. If Obama gets the majority vote of the people and doesnt get the nomination I will vote Republican...same thing if Clinton loses to Obama due to "super" votes.
Both Hillary and Barrack Obama have political campaign ads on = YouTube with no negative comments allowed what is that telling you? Do you think you well voice your opinion once this little Dictators get in Office?
They know the liberal base is clamouring for Obama, but he lacks any real experience. So they can't take a chance on him at this time in history, because if Barack won, America would be defeated. Muslims would take over our government after Obama pulls the troops and Islam would eventually be forced on everyone.
Barack Hussein Obama is simply a puppet of the extreme left socialists commanded by anti-American communist George Soros.
well i agree to a point = "the lesser evil" but Mccain well plunge this place even into a deeper depression . AND finish off were Bush left off . might as well buy a set of nice tall black leather boots . "if your lucky enough"
The USA is right on track to repeat 1920's/1930's Germany. Few Americans today make any distinction between the federal and state authority, all authority is assumed to be at the federal level. Absolute power, absolutely corrupts. The repeat of history isn't based on Bush being Hitler, its made possible by Americans wanting and demanding a strong central government just as the Germans did.
We are a Nation $9trillion dollars in Debt. Before Dictator Bush we were only $1 trillion in debt. The debt is what exceeds the deficit. The people benifiting from the war, are the people who benefit from every war since 1913- The Internation Bankers (The Rockafellers, The Rothchilds, The Morgans)
Ron Paul will get rid of the Federal Reserve the main source of the Internation Bankers illegal income. The Bankers are fearful of Ron Paul,
Super Delegates equals Monarchy. If the Super - Delegates rob Obama, then I will vote for McCain and republicans across the board and voice my opinion to everyone I know who supports Obama to do the same. We won't just sit the election out!
Obama is campaigning in HIGH SCHOOLS!!! I don't want a bunch of starry-eyed coeds and anti-establishment emo-boys stoned on pot deciding who runs the free world. The SDs will hopefully stop obama's media-driven hollywood campaign. We don't need another actor in the Whitehouse, especially not one that is a socialist religous fanatic.
The Super Delegates were designed to act as a safety valve for the party in case of a crisis. For instance, if the voters were to select a candidate who has serious health issues, the Super Delegates could vote against that person to protect the party. Super Delegate votes are meant to be **unpledged** by definition! Both Clinton and Obama should have ZERO Super Delegates! It would be a travesty of Democracy and a farce if the SDs were to decide of the outcome...
this is kinda intresting but to take your minds off of that check garebear its the first one with the guitar its soo funny kind of like that brandon hardesty guy lol
What the DNC is doing to Florida & Michigan voters is wrong. It's a power play using misdirected mass punishment against the individual voter. If the DNC wants to bully the Florida & Michigan voters by not seating their delegates, then Florida & Michigan voters should use their vote to boycott the DNC's presidential nominee at the polls in the general election and allow their States to go republican in the electoral college vote in November. This will show the DNC just who really owns the power.
If the super delegates were to snap the election form Obama to Clinton you can be assured their would be a small rebellion in the African American community. Could be they would sit out the election and call it racism. Hope it does not come to this but it is sure a possibility. Having the super delegates end up deciding the victor would probably be a good thing for Republicans as it would sure create trouble in the Democratic party.
