Nice job Joe. I enjoy your philosophical branch here. This series has brought you from "very amusing minecraft LPer" to "truly intellectual person that happens to have a very entertaining minecraft LP". Anyways, good job and I hope you keep this series running even after you find your next adventure map!
To clarify: Status symbols advertise the fact that you have something valuable--status, money, skills, expensive electronics, a really sexy sports car. You probably have good reasons for having these things, but "the PRIDE of wealth and position brings about its own misfortune." There is nothing important that you gain by flaunting your prosperity. Middle management wear tailored suits and talk about how important they are; the CEO wears flip flops. Who's the one with the power here?
Every once and a while, I hang out on megachan's /cy/, a sfw cyberpunk imageboard, which is interesting due to the number of people there who live homeless or off the grid by choice. In one thread there was a questionnaire on cyberpunk fashion with this question: "Do you look like shit to protect your gear?" That fancy laptop case with the decals and all is a great status symbol--but it makes you vulnerable, and doesn't actually give you anything practical to make up for that vulnerability.
@Jakub7thst The Dao De Jing (or Tao Te Ching) was a book written in China around the 5th or 6th Century BC. The philosophical view it espouses (known commonly as Daoism) is a generally naturalistic philosophy that favors the rejection of pretense and the cultivation of an attitude of spontinatity (meaning in this case to act in accordance with the situation rather than following some sort of "plan").
There is also a religious view of the text, but Joe's not dealing with that one here.

Personally, I don't know if I like the Dao de Jing. I'll still watch your videos, but I'd prefer it if you talked about other philosophies.
