hi can u explain what the SR20VE is please? i know about the DE's but never heard of a VE im guessing its a carburated model of the DE or is there more to it?
Those look suspiciously like 4ag 20V throttles...are they?
I'm wondering about using a SR20VE into an AE86 chassis with an SR20DET transmission. Would you be able to shed some light about using that engine in a RWD format?
F20C requires a lot of cutting (too much) and it's kinda pricey.
not sure, But Lance Hayward Performance sells a SR20 ITB kit. They are 48mm throttles. Im gonna use the BT throttles cause those are 45mm and significantly cheaper.
The hayward kit is 1800.00 that 1800, can be used to buy internal parts for my engine. I can pick up a set of BT throttles for like 50 bucks
I have a stand alone. There is a cam angle sensor behind the dizzy right? That is how I am running my 4age 20V in my ae86, lost the dizzy and am using wasted spark coil packs from a GM. Are you doing a similar thing?
Another thing, I really want a 6 speed for highway cruising. Does the S15 6 speed bolt up to a USDM SR20 block? FWD....do I just need to move the starter motor around?
the S15 comes with a SR20DE engine so it should work.
Worse case, you can order the SR20DE from a S15. Since its not a high demand motor its not as expensive. Also the 6 speed box is physically smaller, in length and width. Its also been reported to be not as strong as the 5 speed and extremely expensive.
Im using a regular 5speed 240sx gearbox for my build, from a SR20de
And also, what kind of manifold are you using to attach the ITB's to the engine? That is another thing I would like to do, I'm loving the ITBs on my blacktop at the moment, I just want to go faster. Stock blacktop isn't that fast...
I havent started building yet. but im going to cut the plenum off the stock manifold. And fabricate a adapter out of plate aluminum and welded to the factory runners.
As for the 4AGE, check Kelford's website. Buy a set of cams for the engine. That will wake it up big time. or Nitrous.
the purpose of the 20V is not big hp, but to provide decent useable power in a small lightweight package. because of the power it makes from a small displacement, you can run a much lighter car in a racing class
so is that a de block with a ve head or did you find a rwd trans that mounts to the ve block?

@driftkid549 VE is the neo vvl type. variable valve lifting. kindag lik the mitsubishi MIVEC system or honda V-tec but only better.

it can work. The bellhousing of the trans needs to be altered slightly.
The starter is attached differently on the FWD and RWD blocks.
Its not much work to get the FWD engine to bolt to the RWD. Final issue is the distributor, it would be hitting the firewall
You can buy a RWD sr20DE block, and then swap the VE head on it. Mazworx has a kit to adapt it to work.
Also the blactop 4AGE throttles are 45mm. this is the setup im considering for my race engine.

Thanks for the info.
What ITBs are those then?
