The thing to remember is that Jet Fair is subcontracted by Hasbro to manufacture their products. As part of that Hasbro provide its subcontractees with various guidelines that they must adhere to. Unfortunately due to Chinas poor excuse for labour laws, many of those guidelines aren't legally enforceable.
Whilst Hasbro maintains a measure of responsibility, the onus is on Jet Fair themselves to change their conditions. That's not to say that Hasbro won't put their foot down. (cont..)
@OminousVoice (cont...) Hasbro's recent statement on the issue seemed like hasty arse coverage. It's highly likely that they will look into this further, if only to maintain their corporate and public image. They are a toy company after all.
This is a well reasoned and considered video and I'll be directing people to it. Obviously this situation needs to change and I am disappointed by the number of people who are making excuses (yeah, but I own loads of stuff made in China/China's just like that/Why do I care, I'm not in China) but what has struck me the most is that I haven't seen any of the 'big name' YouTube reviewers weighing in on this one. Maybe they have and I just haven't seen it.
Well done, sir, well done. Currently, for me it's simply a case of not buying any of the new Hasbro products until I can be assured that the labour standards have changed significantly. If that means I don't buy any of the new TFs for the rest of my life, so be it. I must make a video on this matter myself when I get back to YouTube. I don't need Transformers or toys; no one does, but people do need to live, they need proper, ethical working standards.
