Congrats! Mine failed =.= accidentally destroyed the bubble nest while cleaning. Now the male has got aggressive and attacks the female... =( Feel so guilty.
@happying7 You should never get your hands in the tank during the mating, after it you remove the female, then leave the male to take care of the eggs and after the babies hatch and their yolk sack has been consumed. then you can remove the male. But no cleaning during that time. Ventilation causes the nest to break, so keep the tank covered.
i just bought a female and put her in the tank with my male, they aren't attacking eachother. they just swim around like they are friends. lol and i plan on feeding the fry mashed up pellets because i couldn't find the food. but the female is a lot smaller than i expected so idk how long it'll take.
Try that but I'm not sure if mashed pellets would work, for the first days is also good boiled egg yolk, just take a little with your finger tip and mash it then put in in the water it will spread around and that will help you for the first days, but remember that the tank need to be really clean, so excess of food should be removed after a while before water pollutes.
well i got the rocks now xD and male and just bougth female and female is pretty dark but hes stomach is big and male got tiny bubble nest hes wornking on it :D
Hey im starting a betta tank 32L should i put "sand" like blue ro black what has about 1cm rocks? or shouldnt couse if my bettas do eggs do they find em? and should i put female in "cup" and male start doing nest? or shouldnt i? plz help
Hello! I say go for a bare bottom tank with no substrate and put the female in a cup untill she gets vertican dark lines on her body, then release her. She will start out with horizontal lines, ut wait untill she has vertical lines to release her, and make sure it is after the male has built the bubblenest. Good luck with your bettas, I am conditioning a pair right now!
no you shouldn't put sand in the tank if you plan on breeding bettas....im not saying that the male won't find the eggs he'll find some.....but it will be extraaaa harder since the sand will be there.
DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT USE SAND ROCKS OR ANYTHING!It might risk your chances of betta fry. Also I put my female Bettas in a fairly small vase to keep them happy not cramped
as long as the female is in a small container that is inside the tank, the male should show off to her for a while, and then start on a ubblenest, it can take a few hours for them to finish building the bubblenest and spawning.
can anyone help me i have a pair of bettas and the male has made his bubble nest and when the female goes nere the bubble nest the male chases her away
I remember reading a while ago that when they breed, it is best to remove the female because the male becomes aggressive. He is the one who watches over the eggs. Your fish are doing what comes naturally.
the male betta wasn't eating anything. he was gathering the eggs that fell out of the nest and he put it back. it's normal, male bettas take care of the eggs until they hatch. the female on the other hand usually eats them, so it's best to get the female out after mating.
That's half true, since I've kept my male betta for more than a month with the fry, he only ate the weak and malformed ones. You just need to know how to take proper care of both the parent and fry.
Vonderful..... I'm tryin' out this breeding.... I have everything set up for meine bettas.... Just gotta vait for the male to start makin' the bubbles in the breeding tank.... Danke for the video info... It helped...
Sounds like you know your betta breeding facts!! I've been researching for about 1 year on how to breed bettas because I want to make sure I know what to do, and I can't wait to buy my breeding pair... congratz on the spawn!
If you have a heater in the tank yeah you can breed them during any season. If you live in a tropical country like me then you wont need no heater. It's best to breed them during summer since is mostly hot time.
Wash your hands with water before you put your hands in the tank to remove any harmful chemicals. It's recommended that you use a cup cut down way in half to let your male do his nest in it, because the bubble nest brakes quickly when it's exposed to air.
Yeah you can use a plastic see through cup, as long as you put a cup or something where he can make his nest is good. As long as you don't put something that may have chemicals that may harm or kill any of your bettas it's ok. And yeah you can breed to bettas with different colors. Sorry for the delay.
There are many sites where they give good info. about anything related to bettas. The knowledge I have is thanks to those sites. I know plenty of stuff about bettas but I won't consider myself as a pro with them, maybe someday hehe. But anyway feel free to ask questions and I'll try my best to help you guys.
can i have gravel when they mate? and my fish is kinda beat up looking cuz i used to have him in a tank with poor water and my sis put him with gold fish and all this stuff. u think the girl runs away from him cuz he's not all pretty?
Hi. It isn't recomended to put any gravel in the spawning tank; first because the eggs are very tiny and will easily get lost in the gravel. Only put gravel when you have a adult betta. If the male is not in good condition for breeding like for example he's hurt, weak or sick then don't breed him. For breeding you have to use a healthy male & female.
Yeah you can put two females together, is the males that cannot be together nor males with a females unless you are going to breed them and it's just for a few days that they can be together< males are agresive with females too and can kill or instead she may be the one who kills him.
Remember just females together, but be careful too because sometimes a female can be dominant against the other females. If you see constant agressions of a female against another one I recomend you to separate them or she'll end up killing her companion.
do bettas sleep!..cause mine isn't moving..all it does is stay at the bottom!..but when i put it in the light it moves when i put it somewhere drak it goes to the bottom..is there something wrong with it???
nice vid, mine just hatched yesterday. haven't counted how many but i'm guessing at least 200. we'll see how many survive. it's only my second attempt i'll put up a vid clip of the frys when i get a chance. good luck with your next attempt!
you put the female next to the male's tank or even inside but in a place where he cannot harm her. leave them for about 1 or 2 days until the male makes his buble nest. if he has the nest done already then just leave the female near him for a day atleast.
The male had his fins torn because in other occasions when i was trying to breed them I left them together for 5 days and the female beat him up. Stuff that happens when you are a beginer. I learned from the mistakes and now i can breed bettas easyer and with no problems.
i got them to mate but babies died for some reason :S
