Arguably, it's had an direct line of development from the urban civilization of the Shang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty and onto the modern republican entities on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Mohenjo Daro might have existed earlier than the Shang, but you can hardly argue that modern India is its proper successor.

Arguably, it's had an direct line of development from the urban civilization of the Shang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty and onto the modern republican entities on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Mohenjo Daro might have existed earlier than the Shang, but you can hardly argue that modern India is its proper successor.
