Just did this at the San Diego Auto show yesterday. Since I have had two trail Cherokees and have done off roading on Wranglers, I waited extra long in the line to do the trail ride in the new Grand Cherokee. AWESOME. The downhill crawling ability of the Hill descent control on the other side of the 30/35 degree incline was impressive. I've used it on a Land Rover but this one seemed slower and smoother. One of the most fun things I did at the Auto show.
@tundralover okay point taken...for some reason i have been missing words/leters out of my comments recently like that last one shoulda said "thats" and i shoulda put extra power too....but yeah, appreciated :)
I own both a jeep and a H2. My experience has been that the hummer does perform better in off-road terrain. The wheels all spin together as if every tire has a motor on it. In my jeep, the lifted fire gets the power. If you think i'm kidding, call my bluff. get them on a slippery terrain and you tell me which one has more control. Better yet, which would you rather be in in a head-on collision? I'll take H2. Unless you own both, you can't make a comparison!
@ScorpioRay83 Your jeep has open differentials (hence the "power" goes to the wheel with the least traction). Throw in some lockers, and you'll have yourself a more capable, sharper turning, and better fuel economy vehicle compared to an H2. Sell that H2 and buy a lift kit and tires while you're at it.
you can only ride as a passenger, they have people that work for Jeep drive you. I rode this same course at the San Diego auto show. it's worth the wait, even if it's only a 2 minute ride.
07 & up Jeeps do not come with a Full Skid Plate protecting the Engine & Trans the guy is wrong. They come standard with a Transfer Skid and Gas Tank Skid only. Your Oil Pan and Trans are fully exposed
@M1ke05 this was in 2007 so he was talking about the '07 and older. and yes your right you have to add the skid plate package when buying a new jeep now. but the oil pan is the only one that is exposed. and that is under warranty when buying a new Jeep™.
it's funny, in the uk the jeep cherokee actually costs more than the landrover freelander. in the us, the land rover is about double the price, so buying the jeep is semi-understandable. but there's no excuse for owning one in europe.
Sure there is, they are a great rig, I have an 03 liberty and have taken it everywhere I can find in the NW part of U.S!!! All stock except for the tires. Got some Yoko's.... But the price is quite expensive there. Come buy one here :) :)
They failed to note that the new JK's do not have a waterproof radiator fan. A little bit of mud or water into the fan motor, you have a 20% chance it will fail. Jeep should have put a waterproof radiator fan if they are going to put a trail rated badge on their vehicles.
@jeepman4life2005 The trailrated badge means that version of the Jeep made it through the Rubicon trail. Although to be considered the "ultimate" off road machine Rubicons should be waterproof
cmon now i swear this shit could be done with just about any truck or suv. man am i the only person on here thats seen their buddy go through a creek in a chevy lumina?
i went on this today at the cleveland auto show. at the sideways tilty thing thats like 30 degrees the driver stopped and we tryed to tip the jeep over. we couldnt
starts at about $22,000 bla bla bla. im not impressed! i have 8 in my jeep and can climb hilld above and beyond 30deg. get your climb and articulation angles beyond 48deg and i will be impressed.while your at it put in a clutch to disingage your fan, then your fording ability might impress me. til then you just proved my point...CJ ;AST OF THE REAL JEEPS (OIIIO) neat to see what newyorkers consider offroading..lmao!
Yeah man. I agree. Liberties suck. That right wheel only comes off the ground bc the suspension cant articulate well at all. I hear rumor of International buying out Jeep. Good news. Liberty becomes Cherokee with a solid front axle. Its about time. But we will stick with our CJs haha.
that is pathetic that is nothing jeep should have done more reasearch into wat they could put there more like the real things with real drivers that know that no trail is that easy you might as well had just made a oval track and made them do circles
All jeep products DO NOT come equipped with Skid Plates as opposed to what the driver (exhibitor) is saying. They are OEM accessories, and cost between $40-$120. Great video. Hey is that me filming you? Hehehehe.. :D
Whats sad...is Ive done everything in this video...with a tercel.

4wd doesnnt give extra
jamesmx7 1 year ago
@jamesmx7 4wd gives power to front tires making rear ties less likey to spin so no not more power but the power is distributed better
