@haydenHD do you think you could show the tip of the tool in your next video for just a couple of seconds? becuase i have no idea as how it should be shaped and what angle the bevel for the cutting edge should be.
its good that you dont edit out your mistakes and accidents like the tool rest messing up the workpiece..nice to see some honesty.. good videos thanks.
i am filled with envy whenever you make a video that has your monster lathe in it. i wish i had a beast like that. oh and i sent you a request on facebook.
@haydenHD watchin this video inspired me to break out the welder and attempt to make my own beast of a lathe this summer...ill let u know how it turns out
hey nice progect but i was just wondering, where do you get your paste wax and mineral oil and how do you mix it. that would help alot thanks and keep up the exelent work
Thanks Colin, I get the paste wax at "Woodcraft" and the mineral oil you can find in the pharmacy department at most stores. I mix it at 10 to 1 10 parts paste wax and 1 part mineral oil.
@haydenHD great! i found the paste wax in canadian tire!!!! do you think you could make a vid showing how you mix the two because im not to sure how to! thanks
Carl very nice project!! Iam going to make one to be used for a towel rack outside near our hot tub. Good idea. But I must say " when you was holding the piece in your hand to drill the holes, it made me cringe. I did that ONCE and the piece caught, spun around in blink of a eye and broke my wrist and hurt my tendon. To this day i feel the pain. So please use a clamp. Just a word of warning from friend and his error.
Great project and gift Carl, I might try this out... just like all your projects, it inspires me to go into the shop and turn some wood :) Best regards~TheDecoyDude
Nice, it is always fun to make stuff like that for the kids. my daughter used to love her sized stuff and wish your little one a Happy Birthday from your youtube fellow woodworkers :)
10:48...could you give me the width thickness and legnth of the metal on that scraper?.....i am trying to make a homemade one for a youtube video.

I keep getting requests. I cannot stop now.
Yes, it is a monster lathe. I think it is about 80 years old and came out of a mill at the coast.
haydenHD 11 months ago
Really nice Carl!
It'll be a great gift for people that just been moving to a new house! But I guess I have to do it in two pieces then though..!
Thanks! /Nic.
