  • 10:48...could you give me the width thickness and legnth of the metal on that scraper?.....i am trying to make a homemade one for a youtube video.

  • Hi Cody,

It's 2" wide and 1/4 thick. Can't wait to see the video.

  • @haydenHD do you think you could show the tip of the tool in your next video for just a couple of seconds? becuase i have no idea as how it should be shaped and what angle the bevel for the cutting edge should be.

    --cody

  • Yes I'll put it in the next video.

  • @haydenHD thanks carl!

  • The pictures at the end really enhanced the video. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks, I'm putting some more detailed pictures on facebook too.

    Carl

    Carl

    colin

    Carl

  • @haydenHD GREAT thanks

  • Carl very nice project!! Iam going to make one to be used for a towel rack outside near our hot tub. Good idea. But I must say " when you was holding the piece in your hand to drill the holes, it made me cringe. I did that ONCE and the piece caught, spun around in blink of a eye and broke my wrist and hurt my tendon. To this day i feel the pain. So please use a clamp. Just a word of warning from friend and his error.

  • Thanks Ted. That does sound painful. I will take the word of warning from my friend and use a clamp next time.

    Carl

  • Really nice Carl. I love your big. Looks real solid. I plan to make one of these and will post to my facebook site. Skip

  • Glad to hear it! Go have fun in the shop.

    Carl

  • Nice, it is always fun to make stuff like that for the kids. my daughter used to love her sized stuff and wish your little one a Happy Birthday from your youtube fellow woodworkers :)

  • It was a fun project. She is having a tea party on Saturday for her Birthday. And will do. :)

  • love the huge lathe...I am impressed that you could do that without a steady rest.

  • Thank you!

    Carl

  • Thanks, nice video. /Mats.

  • nice work carl where do you get the time man i am finding it hard to keep up whit you

that's a mean looking lathe i bet you could put some nice logs on it

    Robbie

  • I keep getting requests. I cannot stop now.

Yes, it is a monster lathe. I think it is about 80 years old and came out of a mill at the coast.

  • Really nice Carl!

It'll be a great gift for people that just been moving to a new house! But I guess I have to do it in two pieces then though..!

    Thanks! /Nic.

  • Thanks Nic,
