Very welcome to have a listen to AirwavesJoxfields Vegetable (Elephant ) Man with Joxfields tribute-to-David-Gilmour's-ca-1971-playing guitar at 1.59. If you make a visit; hope you enjoy it! Cheers!
@KarenLeFemme No way, Syd was genius, but i think this version better. I also think Pink Floyd is better with Gilmour lead. Every former (and current, too) musician of this band was and is great, because this band was formed in an age were the musical skill and craftsmanship was over today "three chords and the truth". Its my two cents.
@AdlerMow - Good call chucking the red guitar, but what makes this version better? Syd's inimitable vocals and ethereal guitar phrasings elevate the original to a dimension this excellent homage can but allude to. And I also think it's futile to compare Syd's Floyd with the other Floyds. Gilmour creates almost exclusively via an Apollonian approach, while Barrett and Waters also include what are, to my taste at least, indispensable Dionysian characteristics in their art.
@KarenLeFemme I dont know exactly what you means by Apollonian and Dionysian, but i think i got it. This version is more bluesy, dancing, and lighter than Barrett. That version is more moody, melancholic, and darker. I think Barrett's version make a good drinking song, thought. And yes, both are great. But i love this, especially the double bass, 'cause it make this feel so bluesy! Cheers!
@AdlerMow - I noticed that you corrected yourself when you misnamed the double bass. Has your desire for knowledge concerning music related nomenclature led you yet to discover the significance of the terms Apollonian and Dionysian? Just wondering (if it has) and dreaming (that it did).
@KarenLeFemme Yes, i see. Dionysian is the dreamer, that live for the emotion, and de Apollonian is the idealist, always thinking, reflecting, and arguing. Nice phylosophical concept, i think it applies to psychology too. I read a little about those things, as i love both Phy. and Psyc. as much as i love music. Nice to see smart people around here from times. Cheers! :-)
@woodledog - Well let's take a look at it. But I think that yours was a Gumbyesque defusing, and a rather refreshing segue into this, my self-taunting and superfluous "touchée."
whenever somebody from floyd or floyd themselves play, you can be sure that they have the fattest, most brillant sound one can achieve at that time!!!

@CuuijqyMuruqdte There is nothing sad about Syd case. Ofc its some sadness when someone "dies" at that age, but after what ive come to understand, he wouldnt have changed his life for anything. He was destend to great things and he changed the music for ever. If he could try again he would do the same. Honor him for what he did, dont feel sorry
Syd the great, the genius !

I THINK OF THIS SONG HAPPY TOGETHER Imagine me and you, I do
I dream about you day and night
It's only right
To dream about the girl you love and hold her tight
So happy together

@KarenLeFemme "My Brain Hurts", which of course would be a Pythonesque approach whilst dabbling in a Gumbyesque phrasing.
