  • Don't be scared, ponygirl! You'll love it when all is said and done. I'll have Brynn do a new video sometime soon, now that she is an oh-so-mature almost-11. :)

  • 5 days till I get mine done I'm soooooooo scared!!!!!!!!!!

  • you did a great job i also had that surgery when i was 9. now i am 10

  • She is so cute! I had this surgery done when I was 11 & I am sooo happy I did!! You're daughter is gonna be so thankful you did this for her.

  • Wow, I am getting mine done here soon and its only gonna cost around 1100..

  • hi, your daughter looks so happy and cute!! i just have a few questions. i am a 14 yr old girl and one of my ears is more prominent. i'm thinking about getting otoplastly but am unsure if that would be possible because of the costs. about how much is it? i only ask because i really don't know at all and i really want this done so i need to inform my parents. also, is it a separate cost for each ear? because i really need it only on one ear

  • @goldenfeet118 Brynn's was about $3500 or $4000. I am sure they could just do one ear if that is what you needed. Not sure if that would take down the cost because they have to pay for the doctor's time, operating room, etc. Brynn's may have been more because she underwent general anesthesia also and not sure what they do for older teens and adults. Good luck!

  • Thank you!

  • It's funny because I'm 16 and getting this done in a week and a half, but NO ONE has ever teased me about it. I'm doing it for myself

  • @luvtolaugh1234 How did it go? Brynn hasn't been teased either (she goes to a great school where everyone is pretty supportive). She liked "her old ears" but she also likes the elegant look of her "new ears."

  • hi, i have two years old boy and he has big ear problem. well he doesn't understand yet but plp out side see him first time and notice his ear and talk about it or say what i can do for him, some say to put headban etc. that realy heart me. and i was woundring if i can otoplasty on his ears by the way i'm realy happy for ur daughter and she also very strong and confident.

  • @ifsa31, it was hard when she was a baby and little girl as she had very little hair and people would always notice her ears. Kids would say how big her ears were and of course it hurt my feelings... Otoplasty would help a lot. I think that the best age they told me was 4-6 years old, maybe wait just a bit till they could keep the bandages on the first couple of days.

  • Wow im impressed how normal and bold she is about it.

I had my operation two days ago, currently have bandages on. To be honest, i wish my parents had done it for me while i was young like this

Every1 wud hav their personal opinions about ur decision, but only a person who went through it themselves would fully understand. Mine's were VERY prominent, and I had a really hard time with it, especially through my teens (im currently 22) Ur going to save ur child alot of hard times trust me.

  • @trinislobo How are you feeling and how do your ears look?

  • rascal- I know how hard it is to talk to your parents (or anyone) about wanting to get the surgery. My mom was supportive but my dad thought I was being stupid and didn't need it. He should want to help you do whatever will make you happy in life, so just try bringing the subject up. Also, it is scary not knowing what the results will be. Unfortunately, I have to get a bit more work done on one ear cause they aren't even , but they're soo much better than they used to be! Hope this helps a bit.

  • i think it is good you got her ears done. i had mine done when i was ten. it made me a lot less shy and no one bullied me after that, i look at pictures of me when i was little and can't believe the difference. :)

  • aww, i think it's great you got her ears pinned back. im a 24 yr old guy, and the psychological scarring and pain associated with big ears sucks. i still want to get the surgery, but am faced with all kinds of problems...

  • shes so sweet :)

  • Just had mine done at 9:00 in AUS,im 14 years old. I still have the dressing on my head and i get that off in a weeks time. mine coast $2,500. Its great that brynn had it done beacuse when shes my age she will be soo much happy then she would have been. If u can afford it do it !!!!!!

  • just had mine done waiting to see results. well done for doing it for her ive had soo much names called at me since is was young. i had it done when i was 6 but it was unsuccesful. dont listen to these other comments youve improved her life

  • I am 23 and just had otoplasty done on monday. I wish I would have done it when I was younger. I always wanted to but was scared of what people would think. It's a bit painful and uncomfortable right now but I'm sure I will be happy I did it. I think you made a very good decision to have it done when she was young. Thanks for the video.

  • @rossbamm , thank you. I get some negative comments sometimes like "how could you put her thru this," so, I do appreciate your viewpoint. Good luck to you and post again when you are feeling better. Best from Brynn as well.

  • Anyone who said "how can you put her through this" they clearly do not have protruding ears. Im am 100% positive that your daughter will appreciate it when she gets older. i know i would have....

  • hey, you said you were scared of what people would think. so am i...=/. i don't have money so i'll have to ask my dad, and talk to him about it, but i don't think i can, but i want this surgery so bad. im 24 myself. another thing that's terrifying is i don't know if i'll get the result i want, y'kno?

    any help?

  • I've never met anyone that LIKES having protruding ears, and now that I'm 20, I WISH I would've had the surgery when I was 4, and I still have not been able to. If a surgery can improve self confidence and prevent being picked on throughout years of school, why wouldn't they do it?! Besides, being 4 years old, she's going to say whether or not she wants the surgery.

  • smotpoker just to say the decision is the childs because i was asked if i wonted to have it done and if i say no the decision is final im from europe so not sure about that in america but i think its right hope this helps

  • im 16 years old boy and i got big ears how much does an surgery like that cost.people are making fun of me and that really hurts my feelings.and will the scar go away

  • You raise your kids how you see fit and I'll do the same, thanks.

  • See above comment. She had 3 surgeries for her eyes (Brown's Syndrome) and we combined the ear surgery since she would already be under general anesthetic.

  • @SRG2000 You've just helped to promote more ear surgeries for your child's children in the future. What happens now when she gets married, has a family and her children ask her why their ears are different than hers??? What will she say?? "Our DNA isn't 'good enough' "???? It's parents like you who help contribute to all the "physical perfection" imagery nonsense in the media and world today. And yes, my ears stick out as well, but my parents and God's wisdom made me strong and confident.

  • @kooslap, yeah you're right.... and I wish to God that I wouldn't have had my orthodontia and crowded horrid crooked teeth either, because my other daughter is just simply distraught wondering why her teeth aren't lined up straight like mine. I'll reiterate what I said to GGLVM before, you raise your kids how you see fit and I'll do the same. And BTW, they don't get any more strong and confident than my daughter, and God had nothing to do with it.

  • @SRG2000 "I'll reiterate what I said to GGLVM before, you raise your kids how you see fit and I'll do the same. "

True, but once you put your video on Youtube, you can't expect everyone to agree to the topic of your video. If you can't take criticism, then don't post the video. By the way, confidence is earned by the person themselves, their own sense of self and self esteem. It can't be bought with operations and other illusions. DNA is forever.

  • @kooslap Someone should slap you. She did not get her daughter the surgery because she wants the most beautiful daughter. Big ears can be damaging psychologically. She just wanted her daughter to grow up happy. With big ears kids get teased and hurt. I grew up with big ears I would know. Her mother did a WONDERFUL thing. It is not about perfection.

  • @ThoughtsENT Why would you want to slap me for my views?? Why?? Is yours any better??? I have ears that stick out as well...but so what??? It only affects you if you let it. Have the self-confidence to tell others to go fly a kite if they think they can demean you. You have to learn to outwit them instead of changing yourself every time someone pokes fun of a different body part every week.

  • @kooslap You are a complete idiot. I am not saying you should be slapped for your views. You should be slapped for insulting the women and her decision. That is where you are wrong. Everyone has different sensitivity towards their appearance. She made the right choice from her perspective. I can tell you have some psychological issues. Cannot pin point it but you have some anger in you. The way you approached the initial comment shows it. Go get a life and let people be. Don't try and hurt them.

  • @ThoughtsENT Where did I "insult" the women??? I commented on what their actions were on a moral and self-esteem level. You should be ashamed of yourself for lowering your debating skills to cheap-shotting others with blunt name-calling and violence. I don't expect much wisdom from a 20 year old anyway....though I have met a few nice young folks with a brain...sadly you're not one of them. Now get back down to your basement and smoke your weed. :)

  • @kooslap You clearly Insulted her in your comments. Yeah you may have not insulted her directly, but the comment you posted was offensive. You have some issues. You told her that getting her daughters ears done only promotes self perfection in the media. SHE CLEARLY DID NOT DO THIS TO HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER. There is a difference between pursuing beauty through vanity and from avoiding a painful childhood. The world can be a cruel place. WORDS CAN HURT.

  • @kooslap The point of life is to enjoy it, and sometimes its hard to when you stand out from the crowd. You miss out on certain experiences and you can be psychologically affected from the teasing. Yes some may be stronger than others when it comes to dealing with these issues. All she wants is for her daughter to be happy, so from her viewpoint she did a wonderful thing, she was only looking out for her daughter and if you do not understand that than you are pathetic. "Weed" time, bye. :)

  • @ThoughtsENT Ummmm...you DO know that my ears stick out as well. So don't start calling me "pathetic" or comparing my sense of morals and sense of dignity to "weeds". Clearly you have a problem with anyone who has a different view/opinion than yours....the thing is you rip others apart with your bare-faced insults and blatant personal attacks and then have the nerve to talk about "words hurting" in the same sentence. YOU'RE A HYPOCRITE AND A SPACED OUT MORON. Have a nice day.

  • Its not in my ethics this kind of operations to kids...

i mean when they grow up they can decide for themselves; it seems like parents cannot accept the situations.

  • Yeah well, thanks for your input. To each his own. Brynn has had three surgeries for an eye condition and we combined the ears with the second eye surgery since she was going to have surgery anyhow. Overwhelmingly I've heard from adults who wished they had done it while they were children and healing was easy.

  • Did u get them done at the NHS?

  • No, it was at a plastic surgery clinic in Denver.

  • your ears look gr8!!

  • By the way, Brynn later retracted her comment about my not waking up for the tylenol. She said that she DIDN'T try to wake me up! Never believe a 7 year old...

  • What a well spoken little girl!

I'm having this done soon...if a lil girl can do it, then so can I.

  • why didnt you wake up at night and give her tylenol :(

  • Well, actually, Brynn said she *didn't* try to wake me up. I do not sleep that soundly, especially next to a little girl who just had surgery! She's young and not always accurate in her recollections.

  • It cost $4000 (including all hospital fees & anesthesia) and she had it done at Plastic Surgery Clinic in Denver. So far no problems--I'll have her post another video of the scars and how they look. Healing nicely and she is pretty happy with it.

  • You inspired me to get my stupid dumbo ears done

I have stupid insurance and I don't think it will cover this so I might have to pay for it from my pocket.. may I ask How much is this and where did you get it done..?

  • Ihad that done when i was 10. and i had to have 2 operations due to a blood clot in both ears

  • Brynn you look great! Glad to see u are recovering fantastically! It's a very nice thing you are doing by educationg others about the type of surgery you had. Keep it up!

  • i just got it...... they hurt.....

  • was it worth it?

    did it make a differeance

  • yeah!!! i dont even think about my ears anymore!! one still has some random pain, and on the other one you can see the cut-up cartilage through the skin, but overall, it was good. i wear my hair up like everyday!!

how's brynn's ears doing?? does she like it?

  • Brynn's ears are fantastic. See our other videos for more updates. Glad you went and hope things are going well for you now.

  • HI!!!!! well I'm getting otoplasty tomorrow and I'm really really nervous so if you could just tell me if you had a tube going down your throat that would be great!
