  • Thank you so much for posting this video! I'm glad I found it! I've struggled with eczema all my life, especially in my scalp. Its gotten better since I've decided to go natural but it's still an issue. It's nice to know that I'm not alone.

  • @jjleb85 Yes, knowing someone who is going through the same thing as you makes it a little easier. I'll be doing an update video on my condition in the coming weeks.

  • Girl! I just wanted to comment and say THANK YOU for posting these videos. I have had eczema for all 19 years of my life, and its literally ALL OVER MY BODY. You're very brave for posting this for the world to see. I spend all day trying not to let my skin bother me, and the only person i talk to about it is my mom, and when I do i ALWAYS tear up. So gooooo you for this!

Here's to hoping for a magical cure sometime soon!

  • @MLEvlog You are very welcome! I never imagined I would have the response I've had since posting these initial vids on this topic. Its something I struggle with daily so it is very personal to me. Thanks for watching my vids and I too hope for a cure some day! Stay tuned for an update on my condition soon.

  • i went to my local heath food store to pick up a few things and the store clerk asked me if i eat a lot of dairy products, eggs, nuts, wheat, soy sauces, mushrooms, vinegar - basically the majority of foods that someone that has celiac disease...

  • i have just been diagnosed wit eczema on my scalp and i have a lot of hair loss i dont get how u dont (obiously full head of hair u) iv managed to stop the flakin but hair still falls this is killin me i can bearly go out nowadays its so bad... can u help?

  • I'm not sure if I can help in this area. I was diagnosed with the same thing but my symptoms seem more like seborrheic dermatitis. I know there are varying degrees of severity with this disorder and I haven't experienced any hair loss. Can you tell me what you are using on your scalp? This may help me figure out what is going. I know internal factors play a role too in hair loss so that may be an area to look into as well. I'm sorry I can't be of more help but I would need to know more info.

  • wel my scalp is so dry iv tried puttin oils in my hair it doesnt work r at least not aswel as it shouldiv been using e45 dry scalp shampoo helps a bit but still wen i w3ash my hair i get about 25 hairs fall out....the itching isnt too bad wen i use the e45 does this sound like exzema?two doctors said it was a dry scalp the third said it exzema but i dont thrust doctors and iv had blood test done nothing

  • I don't trust doctors much either. That is why I do my own research. If the shampoo you are using contains any sulfates that could be causing irritation. I had to stop using sulfate shampoos for that reason. It is possible that you do have eczema. Have you tried any moisturizers (not oils) to treat the itching? As for the 25 hairs that fall out, our scalp sheds about 100 hairs daily naturally. That's normal. If you have any bald spots then thats when I would start to worry.

  • u need a dermatologist i was losing my hair aswell in the front and it was spreading....it was flaking, really red and it hurt i tried almost every over the counter medicine and nothing work until i went to a professional and he gave me medicated creame and shampoo (per scribed)....and it really helped it stoped even though my dermatologist told me it might come back time to time but it hasnt for me but i still time to time use the medicated shampoo to just keep it at bay...

  • Thanks for your comments. I've gone to a dermatologist and I haven't been satisfied with their tx options. This is why I'm doing research for ways to keep the flareups at bay. I've never had an issue with hairloss in all the years I've had this condition. For me its more important to use natural products and pray to Christ for my ultimate healing. A doctor can only soothe the issue and like you said they can't guarantee that it won't resurface. Glad to hear you're satisfied with your tx :)

  • Thanks for speaking about this! What did you use as a conditioner (if you used one at all)? I used to use T-Gel to wash my hair and it really dried my hair out but helped my scalp. :)

  • I use VO5 conditioners for the most part. I've also use Aussie Moist. Any of those over the counter shampoos and dry our hair out. That's one reason I have chosen to go a more natural product route.

  • This is really encouraging to see a afro-caribbean person talking about eczema's. I have suffered with eczema from birth and have been used steroid creams for 7 years now. I baby sat for a family memeber and forgot my cream at home and as a result could move my fingers of go out as I break out was worse than I have ever experienced. I am now trialing natural methods and take internal and external body foods very seriously.

  • Thanks for your comment. I too am seeking more natural methods to dealing with eczema and seborrhea. I would love to know what you have discovered! Also, I'm african-american :) But I'm curious to know what made you think I was afro-caribbean.

  • I have to wash my hair weekly this I finds help

  • do not braid or perm too much tension on my scalp breaks me out. Different thins work for different skin types though people do not want to admitte it. Like as black women I can not wash my hair daily this will add dandruff to my exzima. I hate when people say "you can get perm" "it's the type of perm your using". Black women sometimes find it hard to beleive that one cannot add this foreign chemical to ones scalp and that I exagerate. I hate that.

  • You're absolutely right. Different things work for different people. I get many suggestions on what to use. I appreciate the suggestions but at the end to the day I have to choose what's best for my hair and scalp. Relaxers would definitely exacerbate the problem for me. Thats part of the reason I stopped getting them. Washing my hair weekly helps me as well.

  • Would you recommend head and shoulders? How many times a week do you wash your hair to keep your scalp from flaking? The worst part of my head is the top.

  • I would recommend it. Of course there are a variety of medicated shampoos on the market, but this one was the first one I tried and it worked GREAT! If you are just starting out, you'll need to wash your hair almost daily for at least a week (or two) until the flaking stops, like I'm doing in this video. Then you can decrease usage to once per week after that. Hope that helps.

  • This video helped a whole lot. I have seborrhea and hate it. I didn't realize you're supposed to leave the shampoo in your hair for 10 minutes. I'm going to try that. I use the zinc pirythione shampoo. I guess it lessens the amount of scales, but I don't really see a notice/change. Also, I'm a teenager so it makes it even worse to wear my hair down sometimes, because I'm afraid of the dandruff.

  • I feel your pain. Leaving the shampoo on for 10 minutes allows it to really penetrate the scalp. It has eliminated my scales and flaking. My scalp is not itchy at all. I just have to make sure I shampoo every 7-9 days so I won't have a flare up.

  • tx for sharing. The chanllenge seems too be bigger for blacks and even more for naturals Lol. The dark blue H&S (selenium sulfide) shampoo is the most powerfull one for seborrhea. the zinc Pirythione should works too and is less harsh on the hair. if it works for you i might try it out and see. I suggest you do not use the shea butter at least for the 14 days so that we can see how the shampoo is working but.... it's up to you. Tx again.

  • Yeah, I decided not to put the shea butter on my scalp for the 14 days. I do put a little on the ends of my hair to keep them from drying out though. Talk to ya later!
