I remember my dad recording this on VHS when it first aired, but I don't know whatever happened to that tape... I looked for a copy of it on Amazon, and all they have was it on VHS... I wish Disney would release this onto DVD... It would be SO cool! ^_^
My grandma had this on tape when I was little and my sister and I used to watch it all of the time. Thanks for putting this up, lots of good memories. :)
I saw this back in 86 when it aired when i was 5 years old, i had the DTVs taped including Christmas and Halloween. introduced me to these good songs.
Does anybody remember Mickey's Happy Valentine? It was on The Magical World of Disney back in 1989. The only way to find it now is if anybody taped it off TV and saved it.
Thank you thank you thank you for posting this. I've been looking for this for years! As an 11-year old I had taped this too, but I started the recording late and your video is amazingly high quality as well. Yaaay!!
Hey! Please help me! I remember a Disney special about love. It featured "My Funny Valentine" and most importantly "Disney Girls" originally by Beach Boys, but in this version not sung by them, but a duet... Please help me! I really want to find it!!
@primepm Same here. I vaguely remember this show but I do remember one time in my life that I saw Stevie Wonder song playing over various Disney cartoons.
I'm wondering if someone can help me out with finding an episode of DTV. I could swear that I remember the song "My Funny Valentine" on DTV or Disney in some fashion with clips from cartoons like "The Rescuers".
Oh Wow! I watched this so much as a kid I wore out the tape. I think about this episode all the time and I'm so please to have found it once again. Thank you so much Disney! Thank you!

This happens to be the only DTV special that we didn't record. thats because this was BEFORE we had a VCR, we bought our first on in 1987 when I was 2 years old. I feel so lucky to have lived in during the 80s which to me was the Golden Age for Disney. I mean the 3 main networks had Disney specials more often during this period than they do now. DTV was the best of them.
I totally forgot that CBS aired some Disney specials in the 1980's and I forgot to mention them in my 1st comment but I am pretty sure that they did not air this show because they aired all those Merrie Melodies/Looney Tunes specials just thought I should say that 'cause I forgot to do so the 1st time
I was wondering who showed this special did ABC or NBC or maybe NBC showed it before it was on The Disney Channel I do know it was either on Valentine's Day or sometime before it maybe you guys would know anyways please let me know
I was only 1 when this came out but I remember watching it when I was about 4 or 5 I wanna cry I want to go back and be little again with good disney cartoons on, I miss getting up early to watch Disney =( Thankyou so much for up loading this you are a legend mate, I know when I have kids many years from now they will be raised on Disney !!
The restaurant where I work is always playing "Dress You Up" and EVERY TIME I hear it I think of this.
Was talking to a kid (20 yrs old) about this special last night and all she could do was laugh, she had no idea! Thankfully I found this to show her I wasn't making stuff up :)
Wished this was on DVD, I'd probably give a limb for it if I had to!
Haha...that's too bad. The same thing happened to me a few years ago: I popped this into the VCR, and before I knew it, the tape had snapped right in two. Broke my heart.
I totally agree, I mean back then we actually had Mickey Mouse cartoons, and they were the best! I mean Walt Disney himself was actually there when the cartoons were made, now we see the mouse ears, but we don't see the Mouse cartoons, just crappy tween shows, not a cartoon in sight. Walt Disney should be rolling over in his grave because his greatest creations are not being shown anymore, they are just gathering dust in a vault being forgotten while today's generation are worshipping tweens.
Exactly!! Im only 14 but when I was really little my mother showed me all of the Walt Disney Cartoons and when we moved and actually got cable all there was was hannah montana and Jonas brothers, and I really do like the new disney movies, but I really wish that they would go back to their old style and not computer animated
I REALLY REALLY miss all of the old shows like this one
I really feel sorry for the young kids of today, when they hear Disney, they would think that Disney is Hannah Montana, or Jonas Brothers, IT'S NOT!!! I go in the Disney store and that is all I see, either Miley or the JoBros, well, more of them than the actual disney stars meaning Mickey and the great classic Disney films. They wouldn't even know who THE Walt Disney is! They might as well take down the Walt Disney and Mickey statue in Disneyland, they won't know who they are! It's sickening.
Or, they'd probably erect a Hannah Montana statue in its place. Disney's forgotten the stars that made it a legend in the first place. And according to a friend of mine who actually WORKS at Disney as an intern, this is what the KIDS wanted. Are you kidding me? It just goes to show that kids really don't know what good TV is and if this keeps up, they never will. I'll bet if a kid ever saw the old Disney cartoons, they would forget about Hannah Montana in a second. And I hope it happens, too.
Amen brother, testify! And I second that on bringing back the classic cartoons and get Hannah Montana and the rest of the tween crap shows off the Disney air.
And off Nickelodeon, too, while we're at it. God, how many times are those bastards gonna try something and fail before they realize "duh, maybe da kids don't like dese shows?"
Definitely, I mean I remember Rocko's Modern Life, Rugrats, Doug, etc., and the original kids WB, where there was Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Earth Worm Jim, Batman, Superman, and many others, what they have now is total crap, like this show Chowder, what the hell is that? Stupidity! I mean back then, the shows were educational, like Animaniacs, you would see the Warners visit historical events and people, like Picasso, Michaelangelo, etc. Shows today are just making kids dumber and dumber
I have that song "Dress You Up" by Madonna from the album "Like a Virgin". It has clips from "Two Chips and a Miss". I might put this song up on my Sony TC-600 reel-to-reel tape recorder.
I. LOVE. YOU! Growing up, DTV was one of my favorite things to watch. I have it recorded on a video tape, but I am afraid that it will soon be too worn out to watch it on. I'm glad that, even if I never get around to copying the tape onto DVD, I will have a place to watch these childhood memories.
Wayne Allwine apparently isn't doing the new Mickey dialogue at the begiing. By 1986, Disney had recast him as the new Mickey voice, so why is he not here?
I agree it should be put out on DVD but the trouble might be getting the rights to using the songs on them, but if they came out with this on DVD, I would buy it and quick.
Now this makes me want to Time Travel to the past and watch these specials, unlike the Modern Day Disney.
