  • It's great to see the Cornish starting to finally reclaim their identity, it already makes the UK seem a lot more interesting now, yes I know fuck the union, but you stand well along with the Scots, Welsh and Irish as being your own distinct people with your own origins, flag, anthem, identity, history and nation. Never allow an Englishman to say you are English, you are Cornish and have the right to be proud of being so, the English just want to steal as much territory as possible.

    Kernow FTW!

  • At any rate your racist, posting this crap is as bad as posting anti-asian or anti-black propaganda!

  • @thosePhatCows why do you care if they feel different? if there is this feeling within people it surely implies something... special or otherwise.

    my 2c worth

  • @thosePhatCows

You incompetent prick! If you did your research you would not make such comments! Cornwall actually has more rights than what Wales has and it sounds crazy but is true! Cornwall hasnt been mined dry, its a matter of economics with mining set to return in the very close future! Do your research dooshbag! And next time you come to cornwall look for a proper pasty shop, some cornish ale and if that doesnt give you any respect for cornwall, take a visit to one of our mine shafts!

  • @thosePhatCows - Kernewek mar plek!

  • Being a Cornishman of countless generations I hate the idea of an independent Cornwall. We are as much a part of England as Devon and Dorset (although I admit we are the better part), and I for one am proud of it. Long live Britain, England, and Cornwall!

  • @leyhunter Ur a confused sad person. Ur a traitor to the Cornish!

  • cornish independence confuses me as a student of linguistics. surely if a nation of people were so committed to keeping their national identity, they wouldn't have let their language die. i wish there could be a fluent revival, but sadly languages don't work that way

  • @egskilekki Kernewek mar plek!

  • @cornubian mar pleg

  • Kernow bys Viken!

    Breizh da viken!!

Brittany and Cornwall, parts of the same country.

  • Aye, Cornish independence from England would be a dream come to true. They all complain that they are losing their country to mulit-culturalism, yet they fail to see that they "stole" our country Kernow from us...

  • @9XKX also, most of the english, counties or states are actually anchient celtic countries to name a few, Wales controlled what is now hereford shire, also a slight varient of welsh is Cumbria, speaking cumbric, as well as devonshire was celtic but now they english have saxonized it so much you could hardly tell celt from saxon if celts are not gone already of half breads. Kernow deserves better after all we've been through

  • With Dan Rogerson MP's Cornish Home Rule bill before Parliament, we are in with a chance ! It's passed the first hurdle.

  • With 6 of our MP's supporting the Cornish Assembly Bill that is being presented to Parliament in October and the 55% (MORI 2003) of Cornish people in favour of a devolved assembly I don't think you could say we're living in a bubble!

  • believe me i have lived in Northampton and Cornwall and i can make no comparison Cornwall is in a bubble!

  • Maybe you're confusing the image of a bubble with what most people recognise as a national identity. So of course Cornwall is going to seem different. As soon as you cross that bridge and fail to see any English flags (untill you reach the one ripped in half in Truro) and see the dual language signs gradually popping up you know you're somewhere entirely differnt to England.

  • I may be English, but I love Cornwall and it always feels good to me when I go there. The people are freindly, and I have never come across a bad person. I hope you do get your independance madbiker55. The rest of England would love to have an identity, but it has been lost over the years. :o(

  • Kernow bys vykken!

  • Hello! I am really proud to call myself Cornish, and am all for more Cornish recognition, but do u really think it would benefit the people of Cornwall to be free from the rest of England - How would we stand on our own legs without the support from England? I understand where you're coming from, but i think we ought to think about this Cornish independance plan. Great video though, KERNOW BYS VYKEN! :P

  • England isnt a pair of crutches. We can stand on our own two feet. If we farm wind and sea for energy we would have a better economy than we do now.

what England has done:- our education system underfunded as are our hospitals. Our tin industry in ruin at height of English pound. Our fishing rights given to the Spanish our own fleet dwindle. Our youth migrating to work or higher education due to housing costs. Yup your right Englands ace we should all be gratefull......

  • It could be done Steven and the ethnic Cornish would probably better off in the long term. I think when you compare the cost to the benefit you'd see an arrangement that currently isn't very productive. Outright cession mightn't be necessary if the Brit gov't cleaned up its act & gave the Cornish the recognition the deserve & the same consideration the Welsh get. Barring that I think you'd be better off independent. Look at Ireland, it's better off than it was & with the EU trade isnt an issue.

  • Lovely place in england cornwall is.

  • Is there another Cornwall up in England. Wow that's really interesting.

Maybe they could share links with us down here in Kernow! :)

  • GASH is a BNPer. Should have known.

    Gay

    Aryan

    Head

  • Haha it`s part of England weather you like it or not.

  • Charter of Pardon, Cornish foreshore dispute and many ther documents and historical evidence says it's never been a part of England. WHETHER you like it or not!

  • well absulutleyjake i'm glad the likes of you pissed off. please dont come back.

  • people have real problems, jobs, bills etc to worry about. The day for this fairy tale nationalism is long gone. It is fast in decline.

  • People have real probelms, hence wanting to take economic control of one of the most heavily effect parts of Europe by a centralised government,

Nationalism is increasing because of this. It is here and growing at a very fst rate. 8 and 6 years ago 55% of Cornish people stated that they wanted an assembly and 37,000 stated that they were Cornish not English on a MORI poll and census, respectively.

    You realy are dilusioned LO.

  • John Angarrack was unsuccessful in achieving goal with CFF.

I gravydave the great had said this would be the case and I was right.

    GD

  • Cornwall died on its arse years ago.

I was glad to get out of there. Nothing to do there at all.

It dont half make me laff to see the sad losers who have never got out banging on about it being seperate, as if that woudl give them some kudos in their sad lives.

  • Please be aware that Cornwall is territorially - and constitutionally - separate to England.

It is by virtue of this that I am in receipt of exceptional advantage - these include the ability to control court and parliamentary proceedings, freedom from taxes, receipt of bona vacantia and exemption from planning restrictions .

To insinuate otherwise as has been done may necessitate subsequent legal notification.

  • Cornwall is NOT a separate to England, It is like this:

England and Wales constitute a single state.

    And in addition you say

"I am in receipt of exceptional advantage - these include the ability to control court"

Democracy has made much headway in forming the law of the UK.

The United Kingdom is a state consisting of several legal jurisdictions. Notably (a) England and Wales; (b) Scotland and (c) Northern Ireland.

  • opps sorry, my post was meant to read:

England and Wales constitute a single state, no mention of Cornwall.

You say "Cornwall is separate to England,"

The United Kingdom is a state consisting of several legal jurisdictions. Notably (a) England and Wales; (b) Scotland and (c) Northern Ireland. Cornwall comes under England and Wales

"I am in receipt of exceptional advantage - these include the ability to control court"

Democracy has made much headway in forming the law of the UK.

  • Funny, that, seeing as the act that annexed Wales to England has been repealed, and that, since 2007 the Welsh Government has had the ability to legislate. Time to wake up and smell the coffee, I'm afraid. Wales and England are separate entities and I long for the day when Kernow too is properly recognised as having a distinct national identity

  • Well it will not be as its full of rich londoners

  • Probably true. Still, that doesn't mean I can't hope.

  • Hahaha , Sirdhume yw mar sygh a-vel kons lenes, Sirdhume kons . Sirdhume yw mar arow a-vel tin brogh lol!!!! Sirdhume ke dhe-ves,gas dha son

  • In case anyone is wondering NothingIsCorrect just receieved a new Cornish (or should I say, reconstructed Welsh/Breton) thesaurus in the mail haha.

  • you are pathetic kaavap you are a troll and no one actually likes you

  • If Cornish nationalism was real, I ask the following:

    Why no MK MP's ?

Why only a few MK councillors ?

Why has the Cornish Fighting Fund failed ?

Why is the Stannary Parliament self appointed and what laws have they passed recently ?

Nonsense, the lot of it. Cornwall is a Lib Dem county of England. Always has been, always will be.

  • Cornwall is a Duchy outside of England always has been always will be. It is run by the Lib Dems, one of three nationalist parties in Cornwall.

the Stannary Parliament is heavily challenged by Westminster but does enforce laws and veto's through a LOT of pressure.

  • Quite incorrect Fletch. Cornwall existed as a part of the Kingdom of Dumnonia, which covered also Somerset and Dorset, with its capital city at Exeter. It then became part of the Kingdom of Wessex and in fact part of the power which brought about the English Unification.

You also have a poor understanding of feudalism and feudal law. There have been numerous duchies, Lancaster, York, Cornwall, Richmond and so on, all part of England and today the UK.

  • Why has the Cornish Fighting Fund failed ?

They only ever had 200 odd people support this CFF, but the way the so call Cornish bang on about it you'd think it was more like 450 people. Lets face it, most living in Cornwall are English!

    gravydave, ha ha

  • Trelawney should remain as it is, every time there is a crowd of cornish singing it, it makes me proud, the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end , and if you look close, a tear in my eye. No other song can stir these emotioms

  • I second all of that!

  • 3rd that, plus to other comments i hate it when people say cornwall is part of england. ummmm not its not!

  • Trelawney is alright but I cannot sing it anymore we need an up to date anthem that means something today, this one is really not relevent anymore, we need something extra, I am not being disrespectfull but that is my opinion.

  • Meur ras

    Dha weles.

    Longa vida Kernow Bys Vyken.

  • hello chap well done !!! good site as you say ! will subscribe !

  • brilliant clip.. luv it u

  • Where did you get the music for this??

Ive been looking for this song for ages!

  • got from Cornish World Mgazine last month.

came with a free CD will a load of songs on it.

  • Could you send me the ISBN or something so i can a copy

  • Do you think that all borders in the world should revert to pre 1497 ?

  • No, they shouldn't.

the difference with Cornwall is that it's constitutional status is protected by the charter of pardon of 1508.

Cornwall is and always has been a spereate nation.

  • @OnenHagAll Its called Trelawney, wish they had a version in Cornish

  • @Welshcornish There is, you can get the song on the album Eurocanta on iTunes. I've put the lyrics (yn kernewek) to it and cornish imagery and scenery in a video on my channel, take a gander. Though it's sung in Cornish itself, I think it's a Welsh choir that is singing it :P

  • Great inspiring video !!!! MAkes you feel proud to be cornish

  • thats abit.........well...............corny

  • great work
