My car broke down in the middle of feburary, and this song came on. As cold as it was in my car, the CHOM played this song and its words and cool guitar kept us warm. thank you Garland for giving the world this wonderful peice of music. it always brings back fond memories

@StoneVoyage2 Montreal's always been avante garde regarding culture. A lot of bands came here long before they ever anywhere else in Canada (if they did), Another special connection was Shawn Phillips. He has a really strong following in Montreal.
The funniest thing I ever saw tho, was Petula Clark's CDs all filed under "French Canadian" at HMV!!! Ms Clark is obviously British, but it seems she did a lot of French variety TV shows in Quebec. Hmmm..maybe they should move Elvis' work.
I'm amazed at all the Montrealers who posted here.... Count me as one of them (well, an ex-pat now in Ontario too) who has very found memories of this song.
It was a big hit in Mtl when it first came out back in the 70s. Lots of songs and artists were hits in Montreal back then, before they were known anywhere else outside their hometowns anyway. (Probably thanks to CHOM and even CKGM and CFOX before them.) Shawn Phillips comes to mind - BIG hit in Montreal in the 70s with SWWFHMATSITAYKILYBBIGTHTL. (LOL!) He made a special trip back here just a few years ago.
Hmmmm...maybe Garland Jeffreys would consider an appearance or three at PDA. ;-)

I finally found this song because I could not recall the title. First heard it one afternoon while at work in Montreal in 1992 or so. Great melody.

I've always dug this number especially, as I suspect, Jeffreys positions himself in it as "Don Juan."
