  • @batcavity i'm sorry, but you didn't have to read the comments. i saw the serie on the television, so i couldn't like watch all 4/5 episodes all at once. so i said to myself that i wouldn't check it out at all after the series were done. you could have done the same

  • @bellavocebee Magic Flute (Queen of Night Aria) - Mozart.

  • Wow.. nao vejo a hora de assistir, Kate Winslet uma das melhores atrizes da atualidade, acabou de ganhar o Emmy por essa mini-serie! HBO incrivel como sempre!!!

  • kate winslet is my favourite actress.. she is gorgeous..

  • excellent actresses used in this film... they look alike too

  • I love it!

  • Ugh, I want to see this so bad, but the DVD is taking forever to be released! Anybody know if there's been a release date set yet?

  • Oh, sry I'm in germany and HBOgo doesn't work here.

  • it's so great, but where can I see the last two parts. Anyone knows?

  • Could be the film of the year! Kinda reminds me to Black Swan

  • My Opinion: Who care's about who looks older to be a mother or their real life age gaps. The truth of the matter is they are fictional characters who act it really well, clearly most people missed the message being promoted. Evidently, some of this show's audiences (what i have read here) are considering it to be fact by comparing the actor/actress to their real life characters. Anyway, i watched the complete series today and i thought it was fantastic, really good story line we can relate to.

  • Kate doesn't look old enough as the mother, or the daughter doesn't look young enough to be Kate's daughter! Not convincing. ;-) What happened? Kate is a great actor here though.

  • foreskin is a gift from god

  • I just wish more ppl know about the show. It's actually really good.

  • WOooohh Evan Rachel Wood !!

  • and yet again hbo proved itself to be one of the best tv brodcasters out there. after the terrific 'Angels in America' few years back we can now watch Winslet and Leo together - Amazing

  • I'm glad HBO is producing these kinds of miniseries again, to be honest I'm kinda tired of WWII series.

  • why can't Brits do their own stories in England, this is an American role. don't they have their own stories to tell?

this is the same old kate, anyway, as in the 20 roles she's taken

  • @LanieD82

Yanks steal British stories - The Straw Man for one. Johhny Depp as Cpt. Jack, etc.And you lot DIDN'T crack the Enigma Code

  • finally, the winslut gives up on her lousy American accent

10 years to get it and never did

so does mildred show her tits?

  • Wish someone else played Mildred ....

  • @pusssssyyyyyy

hopefully kate's mildred didn't show her tits.

  • I never read the book, the Joan Crawford film is a masterpiece of epic proportions. This mini series was terrible, the ending was awful, it really was.

  • Mildred pierce is awhore...

    Gvb

  • @TheWallstreetguy "The Queen of the night"W.A.Mozart The Magic Flute.....that song?

  • This series was so beautiful and wonderful; it made me cry, laugh, and wonder about my own mother's strives at giving her children everything they wanted. One of the best mini-series of all time!!!

  • Brian o'bryne?

  • MY BFFLES IN THIS!!! LOVE YOU TOMMY!!

  • AHHHHHH! I hate Veda, that lil brat should have been put in her place when she was young.

  • Great book.. I just wish Veda would have been the one to die..

  • Whoa! When does this start? The book is a masterpiece, and the old Joan Crawford film version is a classic.

  • @watha2020 I watched until she went to bed with Wally which didn't happen in the first Mildred Pierce and then turned it off. Jesus, her husband JUST LEFT. They just couldn't leave the damn sex out. Well, I thought I'd give it another chance, turned it back on and here she is in the beginning of the depression, who's husband just left her to raise 2 children alone, just the day before she's counting change in the market and now she's eating a sandwich in a resturant and then I turned it off.

  • @watha2020 @watha2020 The mini-series premiered in March, but you can sign-up for HBO GO and watch all the episodes from your computer!

  • @HBO May I upload the whole mini-series? I'm not from USA like many others, so i thought it would be good and fair if they were on YouTube...

  • @MissTwinless if you go on thepiratebay(dot)org you can download anything you wanna watch in hd for free

  • @HBO or just the mother and daughter parts?

  • the filmed 0:03 IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD

  • The original Mildred Pierce played by Joan Crawford Is probably one of Hollywoods Best movies ever made. Kate Winslet should feel honored to even play a Joan Crawford role. Doesn't anyone realize were all good talent came from? It comes from these so called old movies played on TCM. Movies that most people couldn't care a less to watch anymore. That's were talent lies my friends.

  • KelleyGreen5555, Mildred Pierce is hardly "an old lady role." Kate Winslet and Melissa Leo are not old ladies. They can play "old ladies" on screen and in the theatre, but they can also play swinging sexy chicks! Did you see Kate in The Reader? Did you see Melissa in "The Three Buerials" where she starred as a married woman who had an affair with everybody in town, including Tommy Lee Jones and Dwight Yokum? Thyy can both play a woman of any age. They will both be around for a long time.

  • Melissa Leo and Kate Winslet give outstanding performances in the HBO production of Mildred Pierce. They should both form a partnership and make many movies together. Just as we have a "Joan and Melissa Show" on Television, HBO should produce the "Kate and Melissa Show." Since Kate and Melissa are both famous for using "language that would make a sailor blush," only one of the premium cable channels could carry the show. HBO should move fast on this project!

  • whats with the kiss?

  • that older daughter was such an asshole

  • This whole series sucks. Winslet is awful

  • I am supposed to believe that Vida is Mildred's daughter?! Are you serious. Oh come on.

  • snoozefest...

  • Any Black people in this ? i think they are called African Americans.

  • @MyMerlin1 I think Mildred's maid is black.

  • i live in peekskill was there when they were shooting the movie!

  • No comparison between Kate & Joan Crawford. Joan will always be the ultimate.

  • I love the original '45 version and refuse to consider anything topping it, but I was surprised how different from the book it was. I would be interested to see if this is more close to the book, and it looks like it is, which does not always make it better, it would just be interesting to see.

  • Wow, a triplicate of phenomenal actresses. Winslet, Wood, and Leo. I liked the original, but I'm sure this one will be great.

  • HBO can't spend a gazillion dollars on something ORIGINAL?

  • @edwardjames50 they did a good job with the Temple Grandin story last year so it's not like HBO is running out of ideas. Plus it was a book before it was a movie in 1945, so even the "original" movie isnt even original. I dont call this a remake.

  • What's the song at the beginning?? So beatiful... I want to learn it :)

  • Comment removed

  • They should have shot it in black and white. I think that would have made a big difference especially if the time period is in the 50's

  • @TTFSFireman ~ 1930s. The book was published in 1941.

  • Interesting that HBO chose to option this drama. They usually go for programs that have strong doses of sex, strong language and controversial topics not usually covered on network television.....

This seems very much like a throwback to the glamorous melodrama period of old Hollywood (circa 40's & 50's). The style, setting, characters and storyline. It will be interesting to see what this creative team does with this project.......

  • On a similar note, Mildred Pierce was made for Joan Crawford and Ann Blyth. The problem with today's actors/actresses is that they rely too much on technology, special effects, modern cliches (sex, nudity, violence, cussing) and substanceless dialogue (I can't stand insert laughter, especially when the dialogue is so crappy). Not to mention some of them are completely stiff and unemotional (Kristen Stewart) and are only in movies because they're pretty (Paris Hilton).

  • This looks like a very bad remake. Winslet won't be able to pull this off nor anyone else. It's all too modern. You can't recaputre the essence of classic films because we are no longer living in the 40's and 50's. It's best to leave them alone. Let them continue to be symbols of classical Hollywood instead of creating some new modern version that ruins its iconic stature.

  • @chilvari: Are you serious? As much of a grande dame of the cinema as Crawford was, she was never much of an actress. Sure, she was solid in roles that closely followed the beats of her own life, but Kate Winslet can act circles about Miss. Joan. This is a re-imagining/remake I can get behind....Todd Haynes, Kate Winslet, Guy Pearce, Ean Rachel Wood?? This is made of win...

  • @tommyburgos I see Mildred Pierce as a classical piece of work. The remake will not have the same effect (even if I didn't watch the original and went straight for the remake, I can assure you that my emotions and reactions wouldn't be even remotely similar). I have nothing against Kate Winslet. I like her as an actress too. The problem I have with the miniseries mainly lies within the settling and storyline (and smaller things like dialogue and character portrayal).

  • looks fantastic, but I'm affraid it will make the ortginal look a bit cheesy...and it's a great film!...still can't wait to see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Winslet is too young and the opera? Come on...

  • @CelesteHart Yeah, agreed. Poor Winslet, now accepting old lady roles. She is far too young.

These days Hollywood is made of brainless frat boys.

  • @KellyGreen5555 "Poor Winslet now accepting old lady roles"? Maybe she wanted to play a character with depth and soul, regardless of age, not clinging to the vapid philosophy that women have a sell-by date before they are "poor old ladies".

  • @RikkuTheDincht It's bad casting. Simple as that. Tantamount to Kate Winslet playing Miss Daisy in 25 years.

  • @KellyGreen5555 But why does that make her "Poor Winslet"? Why not "Lucky Winslet" for getting to play a character well beyond her years, with lots of depth? There seems to be a direct correlation with age and negativity in the judgment of "Poor Winslet"?

  • @RikkuTheDincht I wrote "Poor Winslet" not to slam this talented actress, but to shine a light on the absurdity of present Hollywood.

There are so few great roles for women, that women who are far too young for some roles (see Mildred Pierce) take them anyway.

  • @KellyGreen5555 I can agree with that. There certainly is a pitiful abundance of flat female characters, and a strikingly small amount of anything with meat.

  • @KellyGreen5555 She's the perfect age for this role. When the book opens, Mildreds is 28. Tthe book spans a decade, from 1931-1941.

  • @KellyGreen5555 Kate was fantastic as Mildred. Amazing.

  • @DegrassiInstantStar Well, Kate is a fantastic actor.

  • @DegrassiInstantStar We agree, Kate Winslet did a fantastic job in Mildred Pierce!

  • @KellyGreen5555 she is only 35 and her kids are also like 5 and 8

  • @KellyGreen5555 Since when is Mildred Pierce an "old lady" part?

  • @herrrob14 Evan Rachel Wood is only 11 years younger than Kate Winslet and she is supposed to be Kate's daughter. The film's casting is absurd.

  • @KellyGreen5555 a actrees has to become in any person that the job demand. Remember to Emma watson being mother in the finale of harry potter, so it is more adsurd, so you dont know what youa re talking about

  • Comment removed

  • @ENRIQUE881 You cannot form a complete sentence, nor do you believe in spell check.

  • @KellyGreen5555 You obviously havent seen the mini series or have any idea, this isnt an "old lady" part; the first 3 parts of the mini series Winslet plays a mother to two young daughters, it is only the final 2 parts it cuts to her daughter's late teenage years. Winslet as always brilliant in this, you should actually try watching it.

  • @bradley583 Umm, I did watch it...that is why I commented on it.

  • @KellyGreen5555 Well then you must be incredibly dumb to call her part an "old lady" part...

  • @KellyGreen5555 Mildred Pierce is only 1 year older than Kate...Everything fits just right

  • It will be GREAT!

  • This seems all so wrong. I like the ideal of the mini-series, however I think maybe they should have chose an older actress...

  • @devmonbar Actually, in the beginning of the book, which I'm reading now, Mildred is 28. I love the Joan Crawford movie and I'm eager to see this adaptation, which is faithful to the book. The 1945 version was heavily censored and changed to meet the social codes of the time.

  • Oh! I want to watch it with Spanish subtitles :(

  • Love it! love it! love it!

  • I want to see this so badly!

  • And Academy Award Winner Melissa Leo!
