  • wondering about the smoker in this video, the tank on the front, does it smoke to or just a warmer? watched a couple videos and havent seen it in use yet. can ya help me? thanks

  • ding-a-dang-dawg-doo ;)

  • FIre! Natures tv.

  • dang i want to have dinner with you all

  • my family has the big berkey water filter. it is a great product. we didnt prime filters first and the water tasted bad. we have used for 4 months now with 4 filters and its absolutely perfect.ITS A MUST FOR A SURVIVALIST

  • maybe for that water filter you should have constantly added more water. I bet as the liquid level in the top reservoir gets smaller the flow rate through the filters decreases. Less liquid covering the filters means less surface area for water to go through

  • This is a wonderful video. Moral is so very important. When your peoples attitude sinks so does your chances of making it.

  • the guy on youtube named ecodevices they made a solar powered cooler

  • Was just showing you're channel to a friend and we watched this video, he said: "Those store fronts look kind-of familiar..." when the video started, and when you pointed out the court house, he said: "holy shit dude! I lived there about 5 years ago!" hahaha... 1 more subscriber! :)

  • fuck walmart

  • Good idea, how may times do you do this a year?

  • what i always wondered is why has someone NOT invented a solar powered icw chest. seriously, solar panel on top, wires inside the wall of the unit itself, with a battery that acts as is the base of the thing. boom. solar powered ice chest. add wheels make it portable. make the sun work in reverse for ya.

  • @SpikesScarletWitch genius!

  • @SpikesScarletWitch - It would be great but unfortunately I doubt a solar panel that size could supply enough current to power the heat pump to keep the ice box cool, it is a possibiity though - if the ice chest was well insulated, good thoughts tho :)

  • That is one bad ass pit. :)

  • i think people were buying all kinds of food and drinks and gas for four wheelers because it was fucking labor day, but i mean no your totally right they were preparing for an invasion they were all going out into the woods to survive

  • You always have great videos and it is great that you and your family are prepared. Thanks for the effort you put into this for us to learn.

  • and i must say barbecue is delicious but it is extremely inefficient use of fuel

  • no you dont need electricity to cook with propane but you need propane

  • that purifier looks stupid why not use a uv purifier and a simple filter.

  • hey i know u said its a camp....what is it old house or tailor?

  • I Know you said this is your camp, but is it a house or a trailer?

  • I hate the way he says "brisket" and "comfort".

  • @CryptoDriver and "filter"

  • On your comment about the cooler and food preservation, I once went 3 months with no power. During that time I had the opportunity to test using heat for food preservation. When the power went out, i took all the meat and frozen veggies from my freezer and made a huge stew out of it. I was able to preserve it on the stove top by bringing it to a boil for 10 minutes every 8-10 hours. I kept it fresh for 2 weeks that way.

  • Question: Are all these wonderful videos going to lead up to the final and climactic "HOW TO SURVIVE 2012"?

  • Question: Are all these wonderful survival videos going to the climactic "Survival of 2012 Disaster"?

  • This guy really know is stuff but this REALLY isn't a realistic bug out situation. Brisket and pork chops and a buddy bringing you 5 cases of MREs? This guy actually lived and ate better than I do in my regular life!

  • I should also clarify that a bug out does NOT need to be a bare-bones situation if you plan properly but this video still isn't even close to realistic. And like I said, this guy does know hes stuff pretty well but this video made me laugh.

  • 9:20 water sipgot dripping

  • the kids thing is really good advice and adaptable for nearly all situations, not just survival or bug out, simply moving home or going on holiday to a foreign climate can be stressful for them, especially younger ones, let them know there bedroom, let them see there's a meal on the go and this is a adventure but they have there place in it and yes it defiantly dispels alot of anxiety on there part thus less on yours so you can focus on the other issues.

my daughters only 2,& i apply these rules

  • How long does smoked meat last?

    ..

Opinions: I'm thinking of a 7.62x39, 223, or 308 for my bug out system. Any feedback is good feedback. Thanks All.

  • @YouMockMe All of those rounds are solid choices in a bug out scenario for hunting or defensive purposes.

You might even consider a 22LR as ammo is super inexpensive in comparison and you can buy 25 rounds of 22lr for the price of one good .223

  • @ViolentKisses87

For hunting, the 22 would do fine but I am looking for an all inclusive. I think I will go with a 223 but in an AK format. I was considering an SR-556 just because I might not have a chance to clean. But to be honest a big part of me says .308. Something about being able to reach out and touch someone at that distance/size makes me feel all fuzzy inside. But thanks again, I think I might just go for a 223. Cheers.

  • Sir, I'm really impressed with the bbq/smoker, we have nothing like that here in the Old Sod (Ireland). Did you build that yourself, if so would you share the plans? Or even a video on it. Thanks for posting

  • Excellent Video. I don't know why people act like they can do so much better than you do on your videos. Hell, I teach survival classes down the street and I'd rather let you teach

  • Everyone should do this, Brilliant! I wish my Husband would take this stuff seriouse. My kids know in the event of emergency to listen to mom or what mom has taught them and they know where to bug out too. but it's hard when your partner in life thinks this is a joke.

  • @nightshade7206 tell him bugging out can involve GUNSSSS

  • @nightshade7206 Practice, take time off and live like you would in an emergency. Don't take it likely, phones off, no contact to outside world, live for a week like SHTF, do it every now and again and it will become second nature so if something happens you already know what to do. Thats what my wife and I do, we take our vacations at eh same time and live off the land and things like that, its actually brought us closer together and made us realize what we can each bring to a situation.

  • @nightshade7206 Try this. Buy an inflatable superman. When he asks you what the hell is that, tell him, "This is my inflatable husband. When SHTF, he's gonna help raise the kids."

Maybe that will change his mind. :)

  • Everyone should do this, Brilliant!

  • dry ice is better than regular ice.

  • @breckandy yeah but probably way longer than that if he was alone

  • @breckandy - I dont guess you watched my hurricane Ike videos?

  • maybe a hot water bottle full of water would be easier to prime with. Also, you only need clean primer water on the new filter. A stored used one, dirty water is fine, because that's what you're gonna run through it anyway. The main thing is to flush you new filters before you need them to eliminate mfg residue.

  • Always enjoy your vids. Thanks

  • If someone is as prepared as you, I figure as long as you can function without electricity you'll be alright.

One more thing if there is an EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) attack I'm not sure gasoline or diesel powered generators would work.

  • I have been told that you may need to re-prime it once a year.

Also, just wondering why not build some large rain barrels and get the water off the roof of your cabin?

  • Awesome point to think about the morale of your group and the importance of a good, hot meal. It's also great timing about priming the Berkey, as I always wondered what I would do with my new Berkey still in the box.. Thanks for another great video!

  • I have been told that you may need to re-prime it once a year.

  • im been setting money back for along time now to by a place out of town down on trueman lake i think about another year amd well have enough to get our place.Im sure you,ll restock your wood pile quickly

  • Good video, I like the points about taking care of the kids, good for you. Thanks for sharing

  • the spiders come down low (eye level ) to avoid high winds ( hurricane ditectors ) edible abdomen in survival situations , bite stings but not venimous or toxic .

  • i have seen may of your videos and by far this is one of the best ones!!!!!

  • Great Video!! We did something similar last Labor Day and learned a lot. With the flow of the creek, you could maybe have a little air ram pump flowing so you don't have to walk down to the creek. With basic PVC parts, they can have a lift of approx. 25 feet above pump level, cost of parts is about $80.

  • very informative...i love this vid...

  • That BBQ Pit is awesome!

  • Cory you wanna do somethin? "nooo..."

  • I like that hat.

  • Neat Vid! Dang good food! Thanks for the water filter tips!

    John

  • Why do you buy bacon when there is plenty of wild hogs destroying your deer feeders? Maybe you can make a whole video on skinning and portioning a wild hog? that would be great show us how to skin, gut and preserve the meat.

  • @damoo1982 I agree! Try to make a hog skinner vid.

  • How do you keep the bears away?

  • @chitlinray Park Rangers. "Heeeey booboo!"

  • @chitlinray

    - Don't leave food outside!

    - 12 gauge.

  • @chitlinray 44mag for handgun oe 300 wing mag or better for rifle lol

  • We recently purchased a coleman 5-7 day ice chest and it did not keep the ice frozen for even 1 day. I will preface this by saying that the temperature was pushing 100 degrees on the days that we used it, but perhaps in cooler weather it would indeed keep things cold for longer, but in the heat of the summer, it did not. Thank you for sharing your experience, we would all be wise to practice and do these dry runs so that we know what to expect in a real situation.

  • You totally win the redneck hunting award for your porta-potty to deer blind conversion! LOL. You might be able to make a plexiglass window for the cut outs that will keep the wasps out. Maybe something that has a hinge at the top and the window swings down to cover the hole, or something where you could slide the window left or right.

  • BBBo=Barbecue +beer=Bug Out.Good trail run.Obama says how dare You peasants.

  • So your smoker is part of your Bug out Bag? well maybe you can use it as cover. But in the case of food riots which are very likely, going down the road pulling a smoker that can cook 30 chickens is like saying "follow me to my food preps"

  • Since you've got some oak trees there you might like to try some Acorn Bannock bread always useful for a survivalist that wants that little but more

I can post a video for you if your interested

  • Would it be safer to stick the bucket all the way under the water so you don't get any organisms off of the top of the water?

  • Another Great video Kevin. Thanks alot.. I always look forward to your lessons...

  • Well now that's a BBQ grill! When I bug out I'm taking beans & rice... LOL

  • Kevin next storm you have more than you can burn in 5 years. When your down on the farm and you want to stay warm propaine. Moral Kevin is a deck of cards pen and paper. Some a good chess game others a guitar to pick. Don't hurt to have a radio I have a radio set up that runs on solar it can play mp3 too. As per your water try contacting MDI dome they have a ceramic filter that I am told works great you can choose your containment vessel 5 gallon buckets 55gal can if you fill b4 you leave

  • Like-minded people in IL, pm me. Great videos as usual Kev.

  • That smell of that good smelling bbq will go for miles locating ur hideout for bears, wolves, and two legged enemies sneaking up on ya.

  • Great vid! We used the holiday to get in some range time as a family. AR15 to .40 and .45 training. Sorry no video. It's hard to be the instructer, safety man and video guy at the same time.

  • great video,im gonna do the same with my family, great training!!

  • Kev,

Your wife made a great point. "Use the 1st water bottle cap on #2". To carry that one step further, keep a cap with a hole in it in the unit all the time. Also keep 2 fresh bottles of water. By using the pre-drilled caps on the other bottles, they can be used to carry water without leaking.

    Keep up the great videos.

  • Good stuff ! Thanks!

  • Kev,

When you "bug out" you go in style

  • good video, love your videos. keep up the good work

  • how is that marlin 336 treatin you? i've been thinking about getting one they are pretty reasonably priced but i dont know about that micro groove rifling

  • Great Idea- Innovative way to flush a berkey filter !

  • great idea, now that I can drive, I need to practice this.

  • Hey on the berkey filter I've found that if the filters dry out from storage they'll take about 12 hours to get fully saturated and reach max flow even if you prime them. Store them in a jar of water while you are away and they'll be good to go. The other thing is - to get max flow you have to keep the top container filled to the top. The higher the water level the more force of gravity. Fill up a 5 gal bucket and keep it topped off. If the water gets down the top of the filter drys

  • @hy8us i would yeah 200 yards is plenty far to shoot at for anything really

  • great video!! learned a lot without having to go through the process. me and my family hope to do something similar one day

  • zumo sausage?

  • gr8 stuff m8

  • I have a Gott ice chest and it keeps my stuff cold for three days in warm weather.

  • wow, didn't know there were 7 day ice chests... I will have to see if my dad will spring for one. =^-^=

  • You're a good man and you're family is fortunate to have you. I know I will think about you in the future; on how well you and yours are fairing.

  • I'm sorry but if the country is under attack I'm not going to give two shits about a shower and a family outing with pork chops and potato salad...

  • Great video, Kev! Thank you!!

Keep in mind to take good care of the muzzle on that Marlin (in how it's handled in a stow position between the seats like that). Wouldn't want to see the muzzle get abused and affect the accuracy that fine rifle has. Just a friendly suggestion, do as you will..... :-)
