This is a beautiful song... I heard it on the radio a lot when I was a little girl. Years later, I heard it sung by Dixie Chicks, and they didn't quite get it. You can just feel how the song is supposed to when you watch this.

I'm not into country music, but they did a nice job on her song. Not everything is as good as the original, but they did it the justice it deserved. I normally don't like remakes of songs, but both versions are really beautiful to me. I think it's the song in itself that is so beautiful.

Yes, but it's the dilution that endangers the original work of art.  When people say 'it's all good', in truth, I can't say it is. Stevie is a better artist and better musician, imo, and they should have left her song alone unless they could really do it the justice worth dilution.

Beautiful song - I prefer the Dixie Chicks' interpretation, but make no mistake, this is monumental. To be sure there is no competition between the Chicks and Stevie as to "who did did the best version" - that is BS. They both performed together in Las Vegas couple of years ago for country music diva, beautiful duet / close harmony between Stevie and the Chicks.

I think Stevie was the one true love that got away from Lindsay in the mid 70's and this loss bothered and haunted him for decades. Today, Lindsay is married with young kids and I believe now at peace with his past. Stevie never settled down with a true love, nor had children. She was the perfect woman unable to find the perfect mate. Now looking back, does she know that she found him at one time along the way? What could have been and what can never be again - it's all wrapped up in this song.
