Boris -- I adore Devia, and she's lovely here as always, but I don't know WHAT you are talking about or WHAT is plugging your ears when you suggest she does not ornament the line (she does, a lot), or that the line should NOT be ornamented, or that Caballe or Sutherland overdo it. Caballe is still my favorite in this aria. Gruberova is a bit long in the tooth for it. Have not heard Ricciarelli's version.
QUALE INCANTO, L'UNICA VOCE PER FORTUNA ITALIANA CHE FA IL BELCANTO, AFFRONTANDO IL REPERTORIO PIU' DRAMMATICO NELLA SECONDA PARTE DELLA SUA CARRIERA OTTENENDO RISULTATI STRAORDINARI.
CHE ALTRO DIRE? UNA MAESTRA DALLA QUALE TUTTI DOVREBBERO IMPARARE. GRAZIE MARIELLA!
-much better support of middle voice than in her Bolena. Here I actually hear a decent middle voice
-perfect phrasing and italian style, beautiful trills
-variations are of the Sills prototype: "sing higher where I sound better", but from a musical point of view are from nothing special to what "on earth is she singing"? Anyone knows who wrote them for her?
-the ouuuaaaaaaa at 5 04 is not of her technical level at all! Pure attack of the note would be preffered.
She worked on this Borgia with the Italian conductor Renato Palumbo. I bet both of them have some experience as far as the da capo variati are concerned. What do you reckon?
This is the best rendition I have heard so far. The aria is very delicate and should be performed as such - abundant ornaentation as in Riciarelli, Caballe or Sutherland does not create the transcendental atmosphere which this piece should mediate. Devia is fantastic. Im looking forward to hearing Gruberova in this role, to see what she has to say hereto.

In every song I have listened to her, wheter she is young or older, she grabs your attention and grows your admiration till the end.
So surprised to know her name only now.
She is my absolute favourite now along with Maria Callas.

This is perfect, I just love her. She, Caballe and Gruberova - the best for the role.

You are welcome. I can also tell you the name of some music teachers. Take care, dear!

Devia and Palumbo created a sophisticated masterpiece. The da capo variato is exquisite!
