The Island Def Jam proposed various ideas to the trio but found they wern't strong enough to break the US market, the label didnt want to spend on promotion.

I saw a video of a Britney Spears concert where they took out the recorded stuff that was being layered over the top and just left what Britney actually sounded like. Very revealing!
