We live two buildings over. My wife called the police (only person who did so on our block) and she ran down right after the rapist and the victim fled. My neighbor who had the camera in front of his house came out at the end of this video - much credit to him for pushing this video onto the press. The police are now investigating this incident and the officers who responded to this attack for they refused to even look at the video and as well tried to bury the this whole matter.

@JoeBart This doesn't surprise me unfortunately. There was an incident on the upper east side where a stalker chased me down a street- I escaped into a building where the doorman called the police. Upon their arrival , the police took my STALKER's word for it rather than mine even though it was a stranger who called them after seeing that I was being chased. And they too refused to even look at the surveillance tape when I purposely ran in front of one in an attempt to get him on tape.

Luckily however, a friend of mine suggested I get a lawyer who helped me send a cease and desist letter to my stalker AND also got a copy of the transcript of the 911 call by the stranger to police... with this my stalker never bothered me again.- the lawyer helped.- The cops did not.

@rnsone Statistics show that over 70% of people who witness a violent crime do absolutely nothing to help the victim- not even call for help. In women's self defence classes they often teach you never to expect witnesses to do anything more than walk by as if nothing was happening and to always be ready to fight against your assailant on your own even if there are plenty of people around. It's sad- but most people are scum.
