  • MeTOOLicA!!!!!!

  • I'M SEEING TOOL ON THE 29TH!!! i can't wait for it and if kirk were to randomly be there and play with them... I'd probably die happily <3 it'd be pretty damn cool if Doctor Steel randomly showed up -puts on hipster glasses- but you've probably never heard of him (if you did though, that'd be really cool :D)

  • Fuck yesss!!!!!!

  • hahaha it's funny cause sober one of those songs that tool makes thats actually in 4/4. When given the options kirk was like "Gimme one that won't mind fuck me."

  • wow people are just so ... to argue about Metallica and lars if you want an answer just ask tool them self they will spit on you if you talk shit about tallica. people should make difference between doing good and evoluating a music style.

  • both great bands. listening to metallica for roughly 15 years, tool about 10. beyond comparison so shut the fuck up.

  • Warning: Battle of who's dick is bigger below.

  • Both Tool and Metallica are good. I love them!!!

  • TOOL ≥ Metallica

  • @superbuu14 Well, that's true, but more true would be this:

    TOOL >> Metallica

  • everyone knows danny carey man . . .

  • I don't like Metallica much these days but I still love Kirk. He's always been an open minded guy and he's always improving himself as a musician. He was asked last minute by Adam to play a solo with no preparation!! ...Kirk really delivered.

  • iI have to say. I think Hammett does a good job on this solo..It kinda fits Tool's sound.

  • i bet adam jones could give kirk a run for his money if he wanted to shred

  • @wonderwall135 Adams not really a shredder. I'd say more of a genious at makeing awesome melodies, and odd patterns type of guitarist.. He's definately great.,and so is Hammett in my opinion.

  • @tbridge256 Yeah I know he doesn't shred in tool songs. But say, if he were to do a metallica or sabbath cover or something, i'm sure the solos wouldn't be a problem for him.

  • a vampire confesses . com >=E"""

  • hmmmmmmmmm just the thought of a tool and 'tallica album...........the world may never know lmao

  • @theblackendone tootsie pops?

  • Metoolica

  • Orgasmic.

  • Kirk just wishes that Lars was half as good ad Tools drummer....

  • @phlip5150 Lars is nothing but the peas n corn in Danny Cary's puke!

  • @tuf73 I couldn't have said that better myself lmao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @phlip5150 tools drummer wishes u knew his name :(.....sigh....tool>metallica anyday, justtt sayin lol. hate metallica >.<

  • @no1scoobyfan Umm Danny Carey

  • @phlip5150 i was just pointing out. "kirk wishes that lars was half as good as tool's drummer" cause he totally doesnt have a name >.<. i hate that i know the name of a no talent drummer yet i cant remember half the amazing ones :/

  • @no1scoobyfan Yea bro I hate when I do that too lol. I NEVER remember peoples names.

  • @phlip5150 Amen to danny carey! Fucking mind blowing cunt he is!

  • @phlip5150 a 1/5 and he'd be tons better.

  • @litoazmitia Huh?

  • @phlip5150 if ulrich was at least a fifth as good as carey, he'd be tons better

  • @phlip5150 ikr! danny carey is an amazing drummer. the only one i see that is better than him is chris adler from lamb of god.

  • @Kudblythe3 I agree 100%

  • @phlip5150 His name is Danny Carrey.

  • @phlip5150 LOL true..

  • t0:00l plays together with kirk? thats cool

  • Metallica has the greatest taste. They love Tool, Alice In Chains and Ghost.

  • @brnleague99 Didn't James Hetfield make fun of Layne Stanley at one of his live shows before?

  • @MorbidTerror77 Dunno but there's footage at YouTube of James singing "Would?" with AIC at Rock Am Ring.

  • @MorbidTerror77 he was annoyed at him because alice wouldn't come on a tour with them. metallica and aic are good friends.

  • @jeevsrocks actually it was b/c layne left in the middle of the tour due to his drug addiction.but it was over 15 years ago & both bands are still good friends.

  • @MorbidTerror77 Yes he did. He pretended to shoot up while on stage, what an ass hole....

  • Master of sober

  • Kind of makes you wonder what Tool with 2 guitarists could have been

  • kirk trained under joe satriani so he fits in with these musical geniuses quite well. rock on \m/

  • eh, i didnt think kirk was a person tool would really 'go for'

  • @iWentToNam actually adam jones and kirk hammet are best friends

  • I love heavy Metool \m/

  • Toolallica

  • @eulogy46a2 MeToolica

  • I love tool! But hate metalica!

  • tool!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MeToolica

  • This show was amazing. I flipped the fuck out when he called out don ho's illegitimate son, and kirk came out and they started playing sober. That show was one of the best I have ever seen, except the guy who fell from the balcony.

  • FUCK YES, I would fucking kill for a chance to see this shit!!! Kirk + Tool = God of Music

  • I dunno if it has something to do with Kirk but it was a pretty epic one.

  • Loving this shit :D

  • people are trying to make this seem like it was some rite of passage for kirk hammett. i read the story behind this, apparently kirk was at tool's show here hanging out backstage and adam asked him if he wanted to come out and play sober with them. pretty chill if you ask me

  • Kudos to Tool and to Kirk!

  • So it's seems everyone is defending a guy that has been playing guitar for more than 20 years at sucking just because it was to have fun and because it was improvised? I'm sorry...but at some point in your career you have to stop being mediocre...and how many covers of this song people bash because it's not exaclty like in the record? This is bullshit...Hammet sucks dick at guitar and i to this can figure out why idolize him, just like Slash, at least that fucker can still play.

  • @thehornypuppy Slash can still play?

maybe but he is not a great guitar player

  • @grandtheftautocj Never said he was...he did awsome stuff and then got stuck and now he's doing music with Fergie... unless he's fucking that ass there's no forgiving him.

  • @thehornypuppy hes kirk hammet of metallica.... he most undoubtedly is tapin that ass!

  • @antisanity1 dude, @thehornypuppy was so talking about slash, not kirk hammett.

  • @thehornypuppy CONGRATULATIONS!!! you just won the "dumbarse" of the month award!! Well done dumbarse!! :) just because YOU don't like a musician doesn't give you any fucking right to criticize their talent - how many songs have YOU played with tool??

  • @thehornypuppy get a life or continue doing shitty karaoke. if you ever make it on stage with a tool cover band, look at your self and decide if you're just mediocre...fuckin fagot.

  • Kirk showed up with tool in hawaii at the concert i was at. he ripped it up and i sh*t my pants

  • when did this happen :O?

  • Kirk hammet is extremely great at sucking dick at improvising

  • I had no idea this happened. Cool.

  • Yeah Jason Newsted n tool....

  • the video is there but wont play

  • I am huge tool fan ...huge metallica fan...but i have to say the solo sucked...I dont think adam did the solo.......it was kirk, wasnt it ???

  • @sandblastedXIII I think the lick at 5:57 absolutely has to be Kirk. The solo wasn't great, but I'm pretty sure it was totally improvised.

  • Ok. I'm gonna point out the fact that the quality of this audio is great. And also the fact that Maynard gives one of the best Sober performances I've heard on the web anywhere. Awesome!!!!! So sad I wasn't there in person.

  • i wish you could download this

  • @MegaIrishdrunk ya can

  • @MegaIrishdrunk ya can either look for a bootleg for 8/8/06, or use a youtube downloader. aTube catcher is the best ;D no contest.

  • @Livetoheadbang got tube catcher what do i do now

  • @MegaIrishdrunk open up atube catcher, copy the URL of this page, then paste it where it says URL in atube, then click download

  • @Livetoheadbang its not playing anything

  • @MegaIrishdrunk did you download it? wherever it says "save to" is where the video will be..(or just the audio if on "output profile" you select mp3)

  • @Livetoheadbang its not playing anything its like playing it for 7 seconds and no audio

  • fucking epic guitarage aka adam jones is the master

  • @S8OR thought it sounded fuckin awesome

  • i swear some people just oppose someone who's good and popular just for the sake of not being fucking mainstream.

if tool randomly got like 30 million fans tomorrow, i guarantee that would bring the haters, no matter how undeserved.

epic solo, i couldn't imagine anyone better fitting the tool style than kirk hammett in this attempt (except adam jones of course :P)

  • My two absolute 100% favourite bands together, what's more, Kirk Hammett who is my absolute god and idol (Happy birthday today Kirk Hammett!) and Tool who helped me out of some really tough times... Wow.

  • Very cool, since Adam Jones loves Metallica and he and Kirk are good friends.

  • WAIT A MINUTE !!!Kirk Hammett and Tool???

Ok...can this day be any better?

  • @VlikeVince777 The other night in Hawaii, Kirk joined them again. This time for Lateralus. And in the middle of Lateralus, during the soft breakdown, they broke out into Orion. How's that for creamin' your pants?

  • @VlikeVince777 Yes, Kirk Hammett joins Tool (and still plays Metallica)!!

  • @VlikeVince777 they performed orion afterwards...

  • I have never them Colaberate before it Rocks. It is also a bit Melodic in bits,Rock on and Live Long=)

  • I think people are missing the point. He is obviously a great guitarist. I doubt he came out to "play the best solo in the world". He was trying having fun with his peers and entertaining live fans. He did both I believe. While playing he wasn't thinking of you douches sitting at home criticizing like 2 years on. Take it for what it is.

I for one would LOVE to see Hammet and Tool play together.

  • @dgralow this.

  • @dgralow i agree with you 100%

  • Who denies blues denies rock itself.

  • Where can you download this

  • was this the show in Hawaii?

  • not a big metallica fan but this was pretty cool, i loved the solo

  • 3 people thought this was too cool to b true so they didnt like it

  • If Kirk was not raping his WAH pedal then yes he might just play some old school blues.

  • sounds like they're about to play king nothing at the beginning

  • kirk is a f-ing genius

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder where you could download this

  • @MegaIrishdrunk I think there is a pretty safe youtube converter out there, for mp3 or mp4 versions of anything u find here. might b worth looking around the net

  • @pixxiehillpixxie You don't need a converter. You can download videos as well as mp3 versions directly through youtubes "getvideo" function. Those downloaders use this method as well.

  • @BaconSucks where is that at????

  • @DariousFlores You've got a PM.

  • krik

  • If Tool didn't exist, Metallica would never have the idea of taking 5 years to make an album and Death Magnetic wouldm't be such a great album... LOOOOOL

  • Guys before Load it was James that wrote nearly everything Kirk played. If Kirk had something he liked James had to approve of it. Even then James would do his own serious tweaking to what kirk wrote. Non the less Kirk is amazing and can play anything you put in front of him. From country acoustic, To metal, and jazzy blues. Like many others he is a prodigy.

  • @Villain683 Lol, I found that funny because I remember just a couple of days ago watching a video entitled Kirk Hammett Sucks :D Now I think metallica are great, with obvious exceptions :p And I also think Kirk is a great guitarist. But In the video it showed him live in the studio, being shown by the sound technician (or something...) how to play a fairly simple power chord riff, and him just failing, stopping and staring. But yeah, everyone has their bad days...

  • @Arachnidius I know, its and old comment, but hat sound technician was James Hetfield lol :)

  • Kirk Hammett... great guitarist, I like many metal guitarists, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Malmsteeln, Friedman, Mustaine and others. But Kirk Hammett is one of bests.

  • Tool>Metallica

  • Kirk rules and Metallica rulessss.... Fuck all the haters!!!

  • ...wonder..amazing..LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • kirk doesn't even start this solo with a blues scale. he starts this scale with a mixture of major and minor scales. most of his solos are a mixture of major and minor scales with blues scales and mixolydian and arpeggios you idiots. dont pretend to know what you are talking about.

  • was adam jones influenced by metallica in the early days? anyways, im sure they are both influenced by each others band one way or another. i love both of these bands dearly. someday i'd like to hear james hetfield singing a song by tool and maynard james keenan sing a metallica song

  • Incorrect grammar creeps me out and reminds me of the devil. "They're*"

And if you call anything you dont understand "satanic" then Im really sorry that you're in that place. Cmon out... its nice out here. Dark is not always bad.

  • tools music creeps me out a little, it sounds really satanic in parts... im not saying their not good, they are actually really skilled musicians, im just saying their music is a little dark for my taste

  • @beastlysk8r22 Dark isn't the right word for it... the music makes you think and really explore yourself. If you think it's dark, then someone has some internal issues to deal with.

  • i just wanna bitch too!!! bitch bitch bitch bitch....there....i have quelled my need to bitch on youtube...praise the lord man jesus.

  • @benjamminmt Long days and pleasant nights gunslinger

  • @thebeholder19 i'm glad someone picked up on that. shoot with your mind friend.

  • @benjamminmt Aim with thy eye, shoot with thy mind, kill with thy heart, else you have forgotten the face of thy father

  • shut the F*CK UP my men! John Petrucci of Dream Theater is the best!

  • It is just my opinion, but, opinions may vary.

  • Bottom line is, Tool is downright incredible. Metallica is downright incredible.

Spiral out brothers, and keep going.

  • Tool pulled Kirk in because they WANTED his sound. period. get over it. Tool wouldn't be the same were it not for Metallica's existance

  • @thebeholder19 Funny second line. Metallica is not an influence on Tool.

  • @Eliasoz maybe not directly, but Metallica influenced the music that tool plays dude.

  • @thebeholder19 Doubt it man. Tool cite King Crimson as their main influence. King Crimson’s music drew on a wide range of influences (by each member) such as Jimi Hendrix, romantic- and modernist-era classical music, folk, jazz, military music, ambient improvisation, Victoriana and British pop. drawing from jazz, classical and experimental music to psychedelic rock, heavy metal,[1] new wave, hard rock, gamelan, folk music, electronica and drum and bass. So no Metallica in Tool's equation.

  • @thebeholder19 @MrStavi1990 Wrong. Tool cite King Crimson as their main influence. KC's music drew on a wide range of influences like Jimi Hendrix, romantic- and modernist-era classical music, folk, jazz, military music, ambient improvisation, Victoriana and British pop. drawing from jazz, classical and experimental music to psychedelic rock, heavy metal, new wave, hard rock, gamelan, folk music, electronica and drum and bass. So no. He just happened to be at the same festival.

  • I love how they can leave the ego`s out of it, and make kick ass music together. So people like us can debate (bitch) over details. Don`t let the fact that this was a rare and spontanious moment in time between legendary musicians be forgotten.

  • wish every tool song had these many versions...

can't wait for a new tool album and for them to come down to India in the tour that follows... :)

  • kirk is a great guitarist. people just say he sucks because he has a lot of blues influence with his solos and stuff. and unfortunately people dont appriciate the blues like they should. its all about sweeping now. i mean sweeping is awesome but i think its a bit over used today.

  • @Jimihendrix6699 agreed

  • @Jimihendrix6699 couldn't agree more. I love the blues influenced metal guitarists. It just makes an excellent sound.

  • @Jimihendrix6699 He doesn't suck because "he has blues influence". Blues influence in music is great. Some of the best bands ever have a heavy blues influence. Kirk Hammet sucks because he plays the same damn thing up and down the scale over and over. It would be great IF he had a blues influence. Not sure where you got that buddy.

  • @Eliasoz are you joking? i guess jimi hendrix sucks at guitar too because when he plays some of the more fast solos its all in the same basic shape like what kirk does. kirk has a lot of blues influences.

  • @Jimihendrix6699 Putting one or two blues scales in your solos is not blues influence. Blues is about a lot more than using a scale or two. Listen to some classics, or something fresh like The Black Keys. That's real blues influence.

  • @Eliasoz i know the classics bud. kirk has stated his major influences, think lizzy, hendrix, its just he plays metal so thats really the only major thing he can do is play blues scales in his solos.

  • @Eliasoz What band do you play guitar for?

  • @Jimihendrix6699 and blues is the root of all the fucking rock and there is many rock fans that doesn't appreciate blues

  • @Jimihendrix6699 I totally agree with this

to me its all technical now days and there is no feeling in hardly and solos.

  • @Jimihendrix6699 Right! Technic and fast are great but it's not everything. Most important is feeling. Kirk is great.

  • @Jimihendrix6699 That and his usage of the pentatonic scale, he could change it up a bit...but I mean he's pretty awesome.

  • @HurricaneTBag not ALL of his solos are the same, i mean a good bit are but definitely not all.

  • @Jimihendrix6699 No, they're different if you notice the nuances between them and the techniques he uses. He's got his fair share of similar solos...who doesn't though?

  • @HurricaneTBag yea thats what i said. by saying they are the same, i mean they have very similar tendencies, but yea.

  • @HurricaneTBag yea thats what i said. by saying they are the same, i mean they have very similar tendencies, but yea.

  • @Jimihendrix6699 those fuckers need 100000000 notes per minute to officially call it a metal solo

  • @infernalmetaller haha yea

  • @Jimihendrix6699 Well, I see what you mean, but I still disagree. Kirk Hammett is a great guitarist, but he's very overrated - he just happens to play in a huge band as Metallica. His playing is bluesy, and I agree, that's a style, and there can never be anything wrong with that. BUT the point is that his playing still is extreme dull. It's just the same licks over and over again. There's rarely any melodic side to it, it's mostly just playing just for the motorics. That's a vital absence!

  • @JonSebastianF true

  • @Jimihendrix6699 and pentatonic blues isnt over used? cmon

  • @XRasenX that's no reason to say he sucks though. sweeping is over used too but people that do that a lot are still great guitarists.

  • @Jimihendrix6699 Yeah i made a comment on a video called dave mustaine vs. kirk hammett just like yours and people were mad at me for saying i like kirk better than dave. it was just my opinion.

  • @TBRHP shit happens

  • @Jimihendrix6699 people say kirk sucks? BLASPHEMY!!!

  • @Jimihendrix6699 Sweeping isn't even that difficult when you get the hang of it

  • @Jackwc3 nothing is difficult when you get the hang of it. its how fast one gets the hang of it ;-)

  • @Jimihendrix6699 there's no point of sweeping in every lick

  • @Jimihendrix6699 Couldn't have said it better myself. But I do think there are better guitarists that are blues based like Slash. Kirks style never spoke to me. I also think that a good guitarist has their own unique style, but can dabble in many different styles.

  • @Jimihendrix6699 It's not the blues people hate, it's that he overuses the pentatonic scale and most solos just involve fast hammer ons with the scale. And a wah. And it get's tiring at times.

That said, I'm with you, I don't understand the Hammett hate.

  • @Jimihendrix6699 I don't like Kirk because he's inconsistent live.

  • @JustinTyme Theres nothing wrong with changing stuff up on stage. Im sure the band and the fans would get bored hearing the exact same thing at every concert.

  • @Chesenips980 There's changing stuff up and then there's trying to replicate a sound he did in studio that he can't do. Watching him play at Sonisphere he was easily the least consistent of the lead guitarists on that day.

  • @Jimihendrix6699 no i think everyone hates him cause he's a sell out.

  • @stratrocker12 dont even give me that shit
