I've heard rumors that you can get a supercharge for destroying this thing without the electricity, but that is insanely difficult. Can anyone confirm if this is true, and possibly a few hints on how to do it? It starts doing the superpowered attack and the only apparent way I can stop that is to electrify it...
You'll have to rely on your skill and fortune to obtain the Supercharge that way. Yes, NOT using the electricity on Proxima will give you the Supercharge, but you'll need the Velocithor and the Devastator. You MUST time your Devastator shots so that Proxima doesn't hit the electricity.
Actually, just use any weapon that can help you finish the fight quickly. And make sure you have a lot of health - you'll lose some when Proxima does its self-destruct attack.
Well, if you've got 10 Attack and roughly 40 Plasma Cannon and 30 Velocithor bullets(meaning 4 on Assimilate), You don't even have to get hurt to get the SuperCharge.
Stay on the 2nd floor(The floor where the exit and the entrance is on) and try to Plasma it when it reached roughly your height when it's idling. This would push it back a little to the right, making it want to fly back, by exploiting this behavior, use up all your Plasma shots in this cycle. After that, finish it with Velocithor.
I did this in normal and was able to beat it with out a scratch. It did tried to establish a nuke, but got blown down before it finished charging energy.
i can see how that would be possible on normal... but right now im trying to beat this guy on extreme and get the supercharge. much harder.
the 3 levels per sector cap really hurts because even with every supercharge up til that point, there's no way to max out at+ta+ko+cr and still have some as+hr left over. i just don't have enough ammo/weapons/attack to hurt him enough. it sucks.
You don't really have to max them out. I did because it'd be easier. 6-atk,4-asi, 6-kom, 6-tas, 8-crk(Or 9 for plasma cannon? I forgot) is enough. 6 tasen is for MPDB as a backup. That means 25 points, which is possible with field rebooting(6X4+3=27). Start accumulating the Shocksplinter ammo in Sector 6. Use up all of your plasma cannon then go for the MPDB. You MUST trick it into a "fly-back" cycle, since even if you spend the extra 2 on health, the red nano field would eventually run out.
MPFB needs 10 tas though, doesn't it? As does Velocithor. Maybe drop all tas and try to finish it with CFIS? I'll try this later today, but it may require going back at least one sector so I can reboot early and start to save ammo. Thanks for the help by the way.
Let me see... 6 atk, 4 asi, 6 kom, 10 tas, 8 crk...29 points..my memory must be wrong...
I forgot to mention that the best chance to exploit it's action pattern is when it start flying toward you. Kick it back a little, then just press and hold to shoot all your plasma cannons at it. After that...I'm no longer sure..maybe I'll try again myself later today.
That so is not on Hard. I remember fighting it on Hard and it having at least 3 Bars of health.

You do know that you can kick it, right?

And that's in the case that plasma cannon need 8 crk. If it's 9 then spending points on health is meaningless because you'd get killed on nuke impact.
Just remember you have to trick it so that it just kept flying forth and getting shot back.
