  • my parrots eat live platy lols.......yesterday i added in 15 today i found 8 missing cause they ate it.

  • Parrot fish change gender from female to male, just like most other coral reef fish and some even change back and forth both ways. =3

  • @TheSnowyice these are not saltwater these are hybrids between a Red devil and Gold severum. They are 90% or so sterile. Not true parrot fish. Wish i could get salt water so i could get some :D

  • @dragonmissy do they breed?

  • @SuperAaaaa123456 no they are sterile

  • The Bigger the better, i just purchased two 5 inch Blood Red Parrots for my Peacock Bass tank, i wanted to add some color, and i love my Ugly Little dudes.........

The guy i purchased them from, had the pair in a 25 gallon tank, now there in a 125, and loving life, and will grow to there full potential.....8 +

  • I love my parrot fish. He is hysterical. He loves ramming the plants. Very nice collection!

  • I love the parrot fish. Whats the smallest tank size for 1?

  • @CamCool10 i would do 36

  • @CamCool10 about 10 gal, you can have like 1 or 2 babies/adolesents in a 5 gal, but thats a bit cramped.

  • @xanadanBwow i've got a 16g. Soon i might get 1 or 2.

  • @CamCool10 i have a tiger oscar a jack dempsie and a blood parrot in a 65 gal but im pretty sure u only have to have a 40 gal for blood parrot fish

  • @CamCool10 20 gal

  • hi i have a 1.8m tank with 3 parrotfish but when i add other fish they seem to eat them? how can i stop this.

  • @eddybearocks switch the decor around before putting new fish in and it may stop or subside

  • Do your parrot lay eggs and breed babies out of eggs?? if yes would u please tell me how??

  • @abdakbar They never have laid eggs that i known of. But most parrot fish are sterile.

  • @dragonmissy i had a pair, the female did lay eggs, but the male was sterile

  • I love my parrot fish. He knows me and knows when he will be fed. He is in a 30 gallon tank and loves life. Lots of cool things for him to explore. And I HOPE the person was kidding about having them in a tiny 1 gallon tank. That would be torture and NOT cool at all for the fish.

  • @socaltrisha2004 i meant the shrimp

  • oh shoot wrong comment i meant to say will they get sucked up into a 10 gallon whisper because if it can suck an earthworm up i am worried about the shrimp

p.s i failed to edit the comment that's why you read that

  • do ghost shrimp do good with betta

  • @primeotron the shrimp can go with bettas i had a few in my small betta tank. They do need a filter or some kind of aeration. and temperatures between 72-82 like other tropical fish.

  • Are these fish brackish water or just plain freshwater?

  • @llunionll plain fresh water they are a mixed breed between Red devils and gold severums

  • tu oscar esta bien feo

  • I just got 2 red parrots. I love them I hope they get along with my Severum. She is huge.

  • @fuji9991 they should as long as the severum isn't too small. Or your parrot is unusually aggressive

  • can i put one of these guys in a 29 gallon for like half its life?

  • mines are faggets, wen i go near them they run to one corner and stays still.

  • did any of those ghost shrimp manage to make it and live in there and breed or did the survivors get scoped out and killed?

  • they all got eaten. cichlids do not leave survivors. lol

  • @dragonmissy hahhahahaha

  • I have 1 parrot fish and 2 cichlids. They arent growing so fast though. How long have you had yours

  • around 2 years

  • Amazing Parrot Fish. I have 3 myself; one white with blue eyes (rare), and two orange parrotfish.

  • How did you get a white one with blue eyes? You should upload a video of it.

  • yeah a parrot fish would go great in your tank

  • parrot cichlids are fake. i believe they're hybrids of midas and red devil cichlids

  • They are supposed to be a hybrid between the midas/red devil and a Gold Severum. That doesn't make them 'fake' fish, they just aren't considered true cichlids.

  • i am thinking of getting some parrot fish dose any1 think they will go well in my tank plzz have a look thanks

  • how do u keep the lil parrot from being attacked? my other parrot and my electric blue wont leave the lil one alone... he isnt that much littler thought so idk what to do :(

  • The oscar is bigger then the small parrots but the big parrots attack the oscar if the oscar attacks the smaller parrots.

Is it a electric blue jack Demsey?or if its a electric blue african cichlid then you need to separate them. South american cichlids never do well mixed with Africans. One of the two are too aggressive and kill the other kind. I would pick if you want a African tank or a South american cichlid tank. All mine are South american cichlids i have no problems with over aggresivenes

  • Cool! They are cute btw! They can eat anything!

  • i have a parrot fish but they are not so red like this ones i have to feed them something to get red like this?

  • you dont have too mine were always like this but Krill might help.

Krill is a natural color enhancer. My lemon oscar i had was yellow but i fed him a lot of krill and he turned pink from the krill. So that might help.

  • just so you know, you do not have to feed them, they have to be bought in whatever color you want. most pet stores carry orange or red ones, some even carry blue, green, yellow, or even purple ones. however the ones that are blue or green etc. are usually dyed at fish farms, but the red or orange and lighter yellow ones are naturally that color.

    hope that was helpful =]

  • omg!! my grandmas old fish looked like that 2!!=D They're soo cute!! xD Unfortunately, they were given away...n a year after that my grandma died...=(

  • im sorry :(

  • I love your fish<3 =)

  • My parrot fish passed away 2 days ago due to the heater rely did`nt switch it self at temp. So check your heaters

  • my heater broke a while ago. I caught it in time. i put ice cubes to cool it down.

  • F**ked up idea: A bull shark bred with a great white.

  • where did you get that lol

  • can they stay with goldfish?

  • theyll survive but neither will be happy i feel bad for goldfish and parrot and even bettas there to strong for there own good

  • they cant go with goldfish.

Parrots are tropical and goldfish cooler water

    Some parrots even eat goldfish

  • i have those but mine is half devil fish half sevrum

  • most of the parrot fish are from those two types of fish. i heard there is also green terrors and green severums make parrots too but not sure how true that is. But most are bred between red devils and gold severums. ^_^ thats what mine are

  • basically most of them have red devil and severum blood in them

  • thats why they are so cute

  • dang those are nice and red

  • i will :D

  • I've only just got into keeping tropical fish and my nearest tropical fish store owner sells Parrotfish. He told me that Parrotfish have a modified mouth but no jaws.

  • They seem to have their mouths stuck in that cute kissing like lips. So i believe it

  • Yes a healthy parrot can't close their mouth and they use their throats to chew. =D

  • Where would i go to get little shrimp like that for my fish?

  • I got mine at Petco there called ghost shrimp

or feeder ghost shrimp. some other fish place might have them

  • The parrots look nice and bright. Very cool. How big is the tank in the video?

  • it was a 46 gallon dont have them anymore. this is like 2 yrs ago.

  • where did they go?

  • My fathers house hes got a bigger tank. i got some of them when they were a good size and not sure how old they were. So two of them died out of the blue. Which i think they were old. But the others are in my fathers tank. :D

  • nice fish, but do they get along with the oscar? from my experience bigger oscars dont get along with others fishes, especially those that dont fit into their mouth..

  • actually the two big parrots. were the boss of the tank. He would chase the smaller parrots and the bigger parrots would charge and hit him. He wouldn't mess with the big parrots. It was kinda funny.I think it depends on your oscars personality. As long as the fish are bigger then the oscar you usually dont have a problem. My 2 parrots are the same size or a tad bigger then my oscar. An you can get aggressive parrots too. I seen them very docile and then there are aggressive ones. have a goodday

  • is the other black color one an oscar

  • yes its a red oscar which isnt soo red lol he turns red when he sleeps >.>

  • Are you planning on getting a bigger tank because your tank looks overstocked, saying that though, it looks clean and well looked after.

    nice fish as well.

  • i actually took down my tank down. I do miss them. but there in a bigger tank and are happy :D thanks though. ^_^

  • wow puffy fish looks cool :D

  • nice fish

  • thanks

  • how u get them so red!!!

  • i bought them small but i do feed krill and ocean Nutrient cichlid food and the tank is 78 to 80 degrees hmm. not sure what else.

  • okay thanks. so for a full grown or almost full grown parrot, what do u think the minimun tank size is?

  • i need to upgrade mine about full adults around 75 gallon because i saw one like the size of a dinner plate it was huge lol.

  • hey very nice fish. can 1 parrot cichlid live in a 20 gallon long tank?

  • for a little while those small ones in there are the size of the big ones and it been a yr so they do grow fast :)

  • are these freshwater?

  • yah they are :D there part of the Cichlid family

  • how big dose your tank have to be for a parrot? i want 1-their awsome!

  • i have a 46 i wouldnt go any lower then 30 for a parrots. then you still have to get a bigger tank for them when they grow.i have 3 parrots now thats better then six in a 46 i gave some to my father. :D

  • is a 20g good for 1 oscar

  • no its not he will get big quick i have another since the one i have in this video i gave to my father cus he was getting verry big. But i have a smaller one he was about 2 inches in the middle of last month now he is 5 or 6inchs now. He will out grow it in a month. Sorry

  • nice oscar ...love the parrots too

  • thank you

  • Parrots are so cute. I bought three of them as babies and they turned bright yellow and one turned bright orange. Yet, when I bought them they were grey with black stripes @_@

  • hehe they do that. Its like mood swings lol mine gets black in them. THen they turn bright orange. There awesome fish. there very cute and lovable too.Hope yours are doing well ^_^

  • Very nice parrots!

  • thank you

  • i really like your parrots. they are cute.

  • thank you the are special to me ^_^

  • how is it that your parrots r so red. are they always that red or sometimes they turn pale color? because mine are pale most of the time & only sometimes they r red. does it have anything to do with the water?

  • I keep my water temp at 80 degrees, i heard that it keeps there color up.Then i feed Ocean Nutrition Omniverous Cichlid food and some pellets.I every 2 weeks feed feeder ghost shrimp and then once a month do tuffies. Besides that i just do monthly water changes and have crushed coral and gravel ph is7.0-7.2 or little more. Ask me anything i be happy to help

  • thanks for da advice. I still have a question. I have 4 healthy parrots & a blue jewel and its pretty similar to your oscar. anyway it has a hole on da top of its head & some of its fins r falling off. what is going on and what should I do? Im also kind of worried because it hasnt eaten in almost 2 weeks to three. everytime it trys 2 eat da pellets, it spits out da food.

  • It might be hole in the head disease my Oscar had it but he got better. thats why a piece of his dorsal fin is missing. He had similar symptoms to your fish. There are all sorts of fish diseases out there i suggest to go to the fish store and get to the store. The fish might be too sick to eat pellets right now you can go to flakes till it gets better. Then switch back.I hope i got to you in time. good luck.

  • hey i have parrots too. check out my vid mate

  • can they eat feeders?actually rosy red minnows?

  • They can eat rosy minnows i give mine 10 for the big ones to eat cus there mouths are big enough. They could eat guppies to and river shrimps.THe smaller ones can't eat them though. They will when they get older.^_^

  • noooo.... not the ghost shrimp... i have one, his name is chuck!

  • your tank is to small for 6 parrots, you are supposed to have sand, or a little bigger, not regular gravel, there are no hiding places for the parrots and what is an aggresive fish like an oscar doing in there?? there are way to many fish in this small tank.

  • hmm... well the oscar isnt the boss of the tank. The largest parrot fish is. they don't fight much or at all. i do have a hiding spot now. The parrots are fine in with my gravel the biggest on is over a year now.I am in a process of getting a bigger tank.Parrots are made form Red devils which are very aggressive and gold severums, They can hold there own.THey eat tuffies too and small gold fish.

  • Do you hatch your own shrimp or just buy it?Nice fish I have 2 parrots myself with some videos check them out when you get a chance.I think you like the music trust me no country.

  • thank you.i buy my shrimp.I don't have the extra space to hatch them. But they are ghost shrimp you can find them at petco. or other places mostly
