Had a late seventies coimp album of this and some other stuff. Closest thing that reminded me to a ganbang/brundlefly of the clash, 999 and the stranglers all roled into one.
doubt anyone can play this - paul was, and still is, unique player. absolute genius track. fantastic band. saw paul a couple of years back in aberdeen playing solo stuff - still doing really original stuff and looked fantastic. v v cool.
How have I never heard this band? I've been thoroughly over the post-punk and early british punk scene with a fine tooth comb for about 20 years and never heard these guys. Amazing. Just bought Author! Author! on Amazon.
@xyling ha ha its brilliant aint it . just when you think you have heard the lot , along comes another great band from the past. theres bleeding hundreds its fucking great man .
This has been one of my favorite records for about 30 years and not a single person I know has ever heard of it or the band. I have it on a very old single I bought years ago and never heard anything else by this band or anything of them since. This song needs to be rediscovered by someone with influence.
Absolutely one of the best singles ever made , better than spiral scratch ?

@stakka79 Apologies for the delayed reply ... John was the engineer, and an excellent one. It was produced by Bob Last and Scars.

Very Good.Edgy, suspect they were probably fans of the Subway Sect who seem to have a big influence on this generation of Scottish bands.
