Just to clear everything up with everyone, this riff is played in standard tuning. For the effects, Chris is using an Electro-Harmonix Octave Multiplexer and a Electro-Harmonix Russian Big Muff Pi also coupled with afew other effects.
whaaat? no. check out my vids.. the bass sounds fine. if you were to listen to it recorded on a half decent cam, through half decent speakers, its mixed just right.
check out my unnatural selection vid. its haz WIN.
Actually Hysteriaman is right, Plug in Baby is played in Drop D on the bass, but not on the guitar. It makes very little difference though as the only part you play the low D on the bass is during the octave part of the last bridge.. But it's playable in both a standard tuning and in Drop D, but I'm fairly sure Chris always plays it in Drop D
No its not. Plug in Baby is played with Octave in standard tuning. If you watch the wembley stadium video, you can see he uses his Orange fender jazz bass which is always standard tuning.
It's not actually. He actualll plays the drum and bass riff on the G and D strings with a sort of octave setting. Thats why he doesn't need to change the bass :)
these jams are probably snippets of their upcoming 2012 album

actually there's a another video with the same riff. It was just because of the crappy camera microphone.

yeah it's unfortunate, but that's the thing about muse concerts -- the drums and guitar are always ridiculously overamped

plug in baby is NOT in drop d... why should it??? lol
sure, there is no reason not to play it in drop d, but did you know theres only ONE chord that even includes the low e string??
the whole rest of the song does not require drop d at all...
SaintUdnitz 2 years ago
plug in baby is not in drop D! But yes dead bliss star your right :) He uses the same octave setting for Fury aswell right?
tomk456 2 years ago
PiB isn't played in Drop D, and yeah, he uses a sort of octave for pib, fury, starlight and a few others.

Personally I don't like new fast drums to this, they don't seem to match with the bass line well :/ I loved old, original version...
