Tammy recently made some too and I've been wanting to do this as well. I just bought some Tahitian vanilla--YUM!! But I am going to be doing this SOON! :)
@KillerColours I've heard mixed reviews about absolut some people think it's too pricy for vanilla extract but I didn't want to use $5 vodka for mine. I personally prefer Belvedere, Grey Goose or Ketel One for drinking.
@doriibabes I have read it can be good for years you just replace the vanilla beans (after 6 months) once it stops making the vodka darker then you can top it off with fresh vodka. Some people even strain the vanilla extract as well but I like the vanilla seeds and pulp.
Wow this is very interesting :D Vanilla extract does cost a lot and i think even more here in Australia, thanks for the tip, i know this will come in handy in the future!
I agree with your thoughts about using good quality vodka, but I find soo many people don't understand that simple point point of view it is unbelievable.
I made this same thing with cherries and the liquid, two years after, was delicious and not too strong.
can you teach us how to make vanilla fragrance oil? :) i've been wanting to get my hands on a good vanilla perfume... but nothing smells as sweet or as nice as i want it to.
I didn't know that you can make your own vanilla extract, I should try this since it's so simple, great video thanks :)

Absolut is pretty cheap here in France as well.
I don't mind it to drink, but I prefer Grey Goose as well.
