Phelps is, indeed, great, as is Lauren Talley, but this would have been much better if they'd used the Italian lyrics. The song just loses something in the translation.
I'm not sure if I'm the only one who feels this way or not, but, me personally, I would just love to hear Celine team up with David Phelps to do this song. Celine and Josh do great with it, but to hear the two powerhouse voices or Celine and David doing this song would just only be described by the word of amazing.
I saw Celine Dion's (sp?) picture on here and was GLAD it wasn't her version! NO ONE sings this song better than David Phelps and Lauren Talley! (In my not so humble opinion) LOL
I have heard all the version, including the Celtic Women. This one is my favorite. The message behind the song and the singers really make it beautiful. We know they are Christains people who are being sincere when singing, unlike the others who are just singing becasue it is more money in their pockets.
Excellent vocals, less than perfect arrangement. Here I find the vocals competing as opposed to complimenting as with Bocelli and Dion. It is a case of trying to get Phelps voice to fit into Pop song format. He has an undoubtedly gifted voice, but even the greatest vocals need great arrangement.

These two vocalists voices fit together perfectly, as do Dion & Bocelli's. you really cant compare the duos because the arrangements ARE diff. if this was to sound like all the other versions, it would defeat the pupose. Also, David trying to "fit" into pop format? No, 1st, b/c this isnt a pop format/arrangement, and 2nd he's PHELPS, His voice sounds Phenomenal regardless. The vocals/arrangement are Fantastic and Original, & They sing the Truth!
Lauren Talley really has an outstanding voice. Catch her on some of the Gaither Vocal Band DVD's or just singing with her family group The Talley Trio
My favorite version of this song is still Celine and Andrea Bocelli. Its just hard to top both of their voices....two best on earth in my opinion. Lauren has a pleasant voice but it just seems bland after hearing Celine sing this song. The ending to Celine/Andrea's is absolutely amazing and hard to top.......but this was very nice. It's simply a beautiful song. I love David Phelps music. Thanks for posting. :)
@Florin1234C Celine's voice is clearer and brighter, but in a certain way it does resemble Celeine's voice also. I love Lauren's voice better though. She's more human instead of angelic. David Phelps is a great singer also. I love his voice.
Josh and David are have different types voices so it's very difficult to compare them, at least for me. But this definately is not Josh Groban. Awesome performance! Dave u da man :D

weak....david phelps' is not quite perfect to sing this song he doesn't really hit the low part of this song as good as the Heritage Singers (duet Tim Davis & Melody Davis), Melody's voice is more angelic which is perfect for this song. (i'm no saying David Phelp is not a good singer, he's one of my favorite singer, but just for this song he doesn't sound as good as usual-he sounds better when he sings high note)
most of the song is not in David's money range. You're probably used to hearing it with a more classical sound like Josh Groban (sorry, but it's goat vibrato) or Andrea Bocelli.
I just listened to Josh Groban & Charlotte Church singing this song. It was good, But not as good as this version. David Phelps does not have an equal when it comes to this style of singing. He is Amazing.
