I was taking this when I first learned I had hypertension 6 yrs ago. However, I was overweight and drank. Doctors never suggested to see if it could be lowered by diet and exercise. The drug gave me side effects. Dizziness, couldn't exert myself, etc. I got off my meds and lowered it naturally by losing 30 lbs. eating right and exercise. These drugs will quickly drop your blood pressure. I don't think any prescription drug is safe. Even if it is approved by the FDA. good luck to all!
47 yr old male. I've been on generic Lisinopril for 14 mo, 10mg/day. It did a great job of lowering both my BP and my heart rate. I honestly have never missed a dose. During the first 3 months, I was a little tired in the afternoon and would get a few mild headaches. Now I don't even know I'm on the stuff. My BP averages about 120/70 and my heart rate about 65-70. I never got the dreaded "lisinopril cough" either. If your doc prescribes it for you, relax, it's nothing to be afraid of.
This medicine really works. Problem is that I get a crazy cough,(it bothers everyone) coupled with my allergies(seasonal) and an occasional vomit because of my cough. I may have a nasal drip or something, but I remember seeing nausea as minor side effect.
hi, i am 21 and have been taking lisinopril all my life. i was born with a single ventricle and transposition of the main arteries. i now have a pacemaker. lately though, i have been feeling like i am going to pass out or i get dizzy for no reason while im standing. i am hoping to see my cardiologist as this may be a side effect. i want to see if the dizziness stops after i stop taking the pills or lower the dosage. (2.5 mg /once a day)
I just started taking this medication today.. 10/12.5mg pills. I am 24 and have had high blood pressure for over 2 years and a pulse of 90-100 at resting.. I consume no alcohol or caffeine and have had ekg's, etc.. each showing my heart is allegedly structurally sound. I am hoping that this medicine wont pose me problems. I am on a few other medications as it is and was reasured by a local pharmacist that Lisinopril wont interact with my Meds. I was told it should lower my heart rate.. I pray!
I have been taking Lisinipril for about a year now. Its great, I cant live without it. lol Everytime I go without it for about a 3 days I get these bad headaches. I have to see my doctor about every time I run out of refills or she wont give me anymore. Its usually because they want t check your blood pressure.
I have been taking Lisinopril for four months and now I am out of it, I tried to get my Doctor to renew my prescription but he refused, reason why is he wants to see me again. So I cannot go in until after the first of the month, Is 13 days going to be too long to wait? Or do I have any options? I didnt think there would be a problem witbh this as once you start it your pretty much locked in, This medical in America is getting kind of scary.

Why is it recommended not to use salt substitutes or potassium supplements when taking lisinopril?

You should be fine. I'm sure your bottle says no refills on it. You have to look at the instructions on your bottles.
Call and ask the office for just enough until the appointment, they should do that for you.
