I got the EXACT SAME TRUCK, love it. got 120k on it the other day. no issues what so ever. how often did you maintain yours? and did you do this to it all the time, because no matter what you got under the hood, any make or model, excessive abuse shortens its life span...
I think this guy was at my house once buying a wood stove with that truck and it had just snow 2ft and he couldnt tell where our drive way was and ended up driving up to our house in the ditch
Very nice, I love seeing full size rigs taken off-road. I can hardly wait to get my F-350 to somewhere more open so I can take some sweet video too! Post more stuff!
@angrydog1979, I've taken my truck through snow, ice, sand and mud. If yours comes with manual locking hubs it is a charm. I'm not trying to pull up any completion but I've pulled out my buddy's 2500 and dodges out of some nasty stuff. Not sure if you know this but when your done mudding make sure you wash all the mud out of the rims. I've had my first experience last year with the whole mud wobble. Lol. Hope this info helps let me know if there's more I can help with.
@angrydog1979, it has worked like a charm, It has more than enough power. When I purchased mine it had a lift and rims and tires. Ive never been more happy with it. I added a k&n cold air and a 10 series flowmaster. Although I think I need to go with a aftermarket cat because my truck sounds like a Lamborghini. Lol. I originally put a super 40 but then went with the 10 series. I have a crew cab lariat and boy is it roomy. As far as mileage its all on how you drive. I baby mine but when I need t
Ok to give a reasonable perspective on the gas vs. diesel debate from this vid here are some things to consider. First off the sound of a diesel vs a gasser is personal taste. Second diesel engines get better fuel mileage than gasoline engines in these large trucks (3/4 ton and up), so having one can be beneficial even if your not towing. Third, diesel engines are brutes, much heavier than gasoline engines, so having a gasser in an offroad vehicle is more viable than a diesel.
@Macs4Fags I agree on your comment.. I wouldn't tell anyone to buy a diesel unless they truly need one.. like for towing 15k trailers ect. on a reg basis. also diesels dont arent the best for mudd and off road due to the weight just like you said.. also the diesels will be more upfront cost compared to gas and the added fuel cost..
@ajsullyvincennes ah but like i said diesels get better mileage on these large trucks than the gasoline engines do. Also you have the choice of alternative fuels, and if you can make biodiesel at home yourself, you can pay about $1 or less for a gallon of fuel. Last due to their construction and rigidity, diesel engines last a lot longer than gasoline engines do, holding the vehicles value better than a gasoline engine would, but like I said its all taste, I want a new Power Wagon and a cummins
@Macs4Fags Considering that everyone is holding on to there 7.3's I would not buy a 6.0 or a 6.4 unless the previous owner had put 3 or $4,000 into the engine to bulletproof it. Even though I like the looks of the 6.7 it has not proved it self yet. If I needed to tow a huge load on a daily basis, honestly I would look for a 3 valve v10. But i dont tow every day.. I drive 5 miles to work every day (not good on a Diesel) and all i need is my 5.4l.. These engines are vary durable.
i have an 05 with 160,000 miles. it drives like it is new and is not gutless the 5.4 is a good motor. if your not towing heavy ass shit you don't need a diesel.
I have a 2000 F250 SD 2wd though with the 5.4 and the engine held strong and finally blew at 335,000 miles. I now have a F150 but am about to upgrade to a 4x4 F350 diesel.
any car or truck is good just people dont know how to take care of it i seen all types of models reach over 250,000 no problem ive seen them go past 320,000 no problem just people who tear there shit up and dont take care of it, it will mess up, nothing last forever
Awesome truck. I had a 2002 reg cab longbox 4x4. I took it off road all the time. Bone stock except for tires and exhaust. Out of all my buddies stock trucks it was the best. Iv pulled cummins, duramax and powerstrokes and the gm 6.0 gas and someolder dodges out of the mud and snow 2 years in a row. Only had to get mine pulled once. Everybody called it the "Rescue unit" cuz when everyone was stuck and not movin i would pull them all out. lol
man nice truck, but i just dont understand why anyone would want any newer year 250 like that and have a gas engine in it instead of the all mighty powerstroke
@zgadd Thanks.. Having a diesel would be nice b.c the 5.4 in this thing is pretty much the worst engine ive ever had in a truck. but diesel expensive and if i did go diesel wouldn't be powerstroke I would go cummins. I only bought this truck b.c I got a good deal on it and the motor crapped out on me at 70,000 miles.
@nastysxtneon03 shoulda got a v10 i love diesels i would go diesel to if i could but honestly my v10 runs like a champ no lie, its two wheel drive and ive gone mudding in it and i even helped a guy get out of some sand, and i didnt get stuck at all, even with bald tires v10's are amazing the only down side is mileage lol
@nastysxtneon03 i agree. fucking 5.4 will destroy itself. between coil packs and fuel injectors they pretty much are a pile of shit. love ford. hate the 5.4 thats just me lol.
@nastysxtneon03 woahhh. thats weird my fathers 5.4 has over 330 xxx plus on it and still going strong. but your always going to hear half & half about something good or bad.
@nastysxtneon03 i dont mean to sound like an ass but we own 3 expeditions
97- 125k
03-122k
10-45k
and none of them had missed a beat.
We also had a 98 go 250k. All 5.4s, all original sparkplugs (a coil or two on the 97)
sounds like the guy you maybe bout it from or maybe it was you, just beat the hell out of the truck cuz Ive' never heard of a properly used and maintained 5.4 going bad in 70k miles...
@zgadd i have the v10(2004) my dad has the powerjoke(2004) and my step dad also had a powerjoke(2006) all crew cab short boxes. i love my v 10 and have no problems at all. ive spoken with people who have the v8 5.4 l triton and i also get much better feul economy(which makes no sense at all since mine has 4.30 gears) both 6.0's have been nothing but trouble. dont get me wrong they were/are both fast as f**k but alot of prolems.
@maddog351 I have the 5.4. I also have muddling tires and a lift, I generally get about 14 mpg. I'm assuming its just because its a truck but isn't 14 about what to expect in these?
@MrMichael1701 you are lucky to be getting that. i work at a gas station and a couple of the regulars that come there have gas superdutys too. one guy has an 04 ext cab long box automatic 5.4 with 8 inches of lift in the rear and 6 inches up fron running 35x12.5 inch nokian vitiva m/ts. he is getting around 10 mpg city. the other regular had the same truck but no lift and the v10 5-speed drive train. he cant understand how i can afford the gas for my truck working at a gas station. lol.
@zgadd yeah diesels are expensive but the new 5.0 and 6.2 liter gas engines are huge improvement over the outgoing engines. Heard great things about fords new diesel for 2011 too.
what tires and wheels on the truck i like em. what size are they?
