I believe that the Cavies 2008 show was up to par with prior shows in visuals and music, however, I do feel something lacking this year than in former shows..... like a spirit or flame or something..... it dwindled a bit this year. idk, i can't explain it, and no i'm not an "adult" or "mature" so please, don't respond hostilely to my comment.

uh, no it wasnt... the show wasnt difficult... the cavies music book was simple, easy, just potato notes and chords... their drumline hasnt had anything challenging since 2004 or anything interesting... this corps is only a drill design... that basically sums up the 2008 show... drill design, that's it... devs, crown, Pr easily kicked their ass with REAL shows.
3.) ive forgotten more about this activity than you will ever know... after all i marched in top corps, know what its like to win captions awards and championships... know what its like to be on an innovative, award winning staff...

ending was good but i personally think blue devils had a harder show, although i'm rather split on who had the show that i just like the best they're both great. the only one i can think of not really liking this year is the cadets they took commentary to the next level, and made it a conversation in the middle of a football field and by the way theres happens to be a corps there.
and how can you promise something that you dont know? dont be so ridiculously dramatic... makes it hard to take you serious.... doesnt matter what YOUR OPINION is... all that matters is that you are nowhere close on the performance and presentation level of BD... sorry, BD is way out of your league... you just arent good enough.
I don't think the Cavaliers need a bunch of people on YouTube to tell them how to win championships. They've gotten first at finals enough in the last few years to blame their placement on the Blue Devil's having a "weak show," which never happens anyway. Keep in mind this IS the program that produced the highest-scoring show in DCI history (and yes, I know about "The Zone" tying it, but they still didn't break the record) not so many years ago. I think they know what they're doing by now.
NSidedrummer, do you really think any drum corps other than BD really cares about winning? You dont march drum corps to win, you march to make great friends, memories, and to have an awesome summer. If you only march to win, then you have seriously wasted your money because you would let your summer be ruined by a single score on one single night, its not worth it to march for that reason.
You know,this has been the best video on youtube of the Cavaliers 2008. Its clear and it capture the best part of the show. I'm not from the US and of course,not anywhere near the DCI comp but thank you for this absolutely tremendous video. But I still wish I can watch a full video of it though...
it's true the cavies don't play much music, only because they are more visual..but none the less, extremely talented at marching and very entertaining. You can't deny that
cavies have always been visual! I personally don't think they've had a good music year since 04'and that was still a visual show as well...just like frameworks, I still think that they are easily the ones which every corps tries to beat, they set the bench mark this decade...
I saw them in San Antonio and they really rebuilt that ending. The ending they used in S.A. was borderline high school in complexity. How often does a corps change up design? I'm very proud of them. As for their music: It's their sound and they don't do all the fruity Cadet runs nor do they go after the stuff that Phantom or BD do which is fine. Cavies have that sleek even dark thing going on. If Boba Fett was a drum corps, he'd be The Cavaliers.
umm..our old ending was still hard as fuck. And i dont ever remember doing drill like that in high school, and i came from a pretty good one. The ending was a lot cooler but don't say the old one was "borederline high school on complexity"
Ouch... Crown = the most ridiculous SW character ever? And arguably the most hated? Not fair to Crown. ;-) And Bluecoats as Ewoks is pretty harsh too. I'd say the 'Coats as storm troopers and Phantom as Padme--beautiful, but will kick your ass.
But I must say you hit BD right on the nose.

Well, it's just getting old imo. We know they can move well, I'd never put them down in that category, but I think we'd (as a collective audience) like to hear some better music come out of their very talented horn line.

ending was good but i personally think blue devils had a harder show, although i'm rather split on who had the show that i just like the best they're both great. the only one i can think of not really liking this year is the cadets they took commentary to the next level, and made it a conversation in the middle of a football field and by the way theres happens to be a corps there.

I don't think the Cavaliers need a bunch of people on YouTube to tell them how to win championships. They've gotten first at finals enough in the last few years to blame their placement on the Blue Devil's having a "weak show," which never happens anyway. Keep in mind this IS the program that produced the highest-scoring show in DCI history (and yes, I know about "The Zone" tying it, but they still didn't break the record) not so many years ago. I think they know what they're doing by now.

NSidedrummer, do you really think any drum corps other than BD really cares about winning? You dont march drum corps to win, you march to make great friends, memories, and to have an awesome summer. If you only march to win, then you have seriously wasted your money because you would let your summer be ruined by a single score on one single night, its not worth it to march for that reason.

You know,this has been the best video on youtube of the Cavaliers 2008. Its clear and it capture the best part of the show. I'm not from the US and of course,not anywhere near the DCI comp but thank you for this absolutely tremendous video. But I still wish I can watch a full video of it though...

To Win in DCI you have to play MUSIC, all through the show, not jump and twist, MUSIC.
If you do that then the rest will and shall fall into place, thats why Garfield won in the eighties.

cavies have always been visual! I personally don't think they've had a good music year since 04'and that was still a visual show as well...just like frameworks, I still think that they are easily the ones which every corps tries to beat, they set the bench mark this decade...

I saw them in San Antonio and they really rebuilt that ending. The ending they used in S.A. was borderline high school in complexity. How often does a corps change up design? I'm very proud of them. As for their music: It's their sound and they don't do all the fruity Cadet runs nor do they go after the stuff that Phantom or BD do which is fine. Cavies have that sleek even dark thing going on. If Boba Fett was a drum corps, he'd be The Cavaliers.

umm..our old ending was still hard as fuck. And i dont ever remember doing drill like that in high school, and i came from a pretty good one. The ending was a lot cooler but don't say the old one was "borederline high school on complexity"

Ouch... Crown = the most ridiculous SW character ever? And arguably the most hated? Not fair to Crown. ;-) And Bluecoats as Ewoks is pretty harsh too. I'd say the 'Coats as storm troopers and Phantom as Padme--beautiful, but will kick your ass.
But I must say you hit BD right on the nose.
And I can't believe I'm having this discussion. Drum corps and Star Wars... Does it get any more delightfully nerdy?

each corps picke their own medicine. Cavaliers do visual with clean orchestral sounding horns. just my opinion.
