  • Beautiful San Francisco!

  • Its just a miniature effect made by the cam. Nikon or Canon, either one

  • check out 'A Dose Of San Francisco" !!!

  • THE BEST FUCKIN CITY

  • Is it just me, or is the tilt-shift effect the trippiest thing ever?

  • nice detail work on this miniature toy. it looks realistic

  • I don't understand the "miniature" part. It's just normal footage of San Francisco..

  • @cheezebs I think the vid means that SF is only 50 sq miles, yet so big??

  • Which lens did you use?

  • whose the fucken next ass hole number 10 ?

  • what's with the 9 dislikes???

    this is awesome work!

  • wow! just amazing :)

  • What the hell am I looking at? This is on the borders of real/model and good/CGI

    O_O

  • How does one create the effect of looking at something miniature? Is it the camera? Or the colors used?

  • @SRodriguez28 Its called Tilt shift, You can either buy the extremely expensive lens or find a post process program that can add this effect. This can be achieved with Adobe and numerous other programs. The main thing is notice that the Top and bottom of the image is blurred. That is the biggest part of tilt shift, the lens is out of focus per say at the top and bottom except for the middle which is "warped" instead of the image passing straight through the lens it has to travel at an angle.

  • @uscgjake22 Wow, great knowledge. Thanks!

  • t es sur que c est migniature on dirait vrai et pris de loin

  • WOW - simply the only word that can sum it up. WOW

  • loltourists missing out on the good spots. :3

  • Someday, I hope to live and work in the SF area. The one company I would love (and I mean LOVE) to work for is CNET (headquartered out here too). I love anything gadgets, tech, gizmos, and what-not. I also studied mass media in college. So working for them would be perfect.

  • I recommend visiting the Fisherman's Wharf (Embarcadero) for anyone who visits SF. Other places to check out include Golden Gate Park, Height/Ashbury, Crossing both the Golden Gate Bridge and Oakland Bay Bridge, Alcatraz (The Rock), Chinatown, Coit Tower, Business and Shopping Districts, TransAmerican Pyramid, Mission/Castro, and it's many suburbs. Also check out the Sonoma and Napa Valleys and their vineyards!

  • This is just awesome!

  • song pls?

  • best city in the world

  • i cant believe my eyes!!! is there any proof that those people are actually miniature models???

  • The very first scene adds so much more to the general story, and not just random tilt-shift videos montaged together.

  • I had to laugh it was small but it's Excellent talent. I wonder how long it took.

  • is this computer generated models or u did your model yourself using material then add people and vehicles to it?im confused.

  • @kamikazeboy123 nvrmnd i knew the trickd already.lol

  • @kamikazeboy123 i think it's only a video wit a blur filter ;P

  • Tilt shit only end up looking good if viewing at an angle from above.

  • Great video....eye candy

  • Really well done! couple of years ago i've tried few tests to do something similar, but never completed the project.

Congrats on completing it! I know it takes a lot of work and long hours to complete. I admire your work!

  • So awesome - I LOVE the tilt shift!! Im blessed to have been raised here and to still live so close. EVERY time I go over the Bay Bridge into the City my soul sings and my heart wells....awesome video. How about a sequel of the City's hoods? From Pacific Heights to HP! There's beauty in allll of it :))

  • Amazing! I love SF.... I want to go back. NOW!

  • it so crazy how the person that made this made it look like a miniature world..like everything looks like a miniature model of itself haha

  • Einfach genial. Muss mir die Linse nun doch langsam mal zulegen..... :-))

  • I'm not elderly, but it brought tears to my eyes too... I *need* to move there to be with my ♥Love-of-my-Life♥...

  • This makes me love the bay area so much... so happy to have been born in San Jose (;

  • waching this always make me cry....its a far dream.

  • This is so cool, I love it! I am planning to move there someday soon. THANKS :-)

  • I love San Francisco. Every time I am there I just want to say there. When I go home, it's like my heart is still there.

    "I Left My Heartttttttttttttt

    In San Franciscoooooooooooooooooooooo"

  • I love this! I was in San Francisco in April last year, and this made me all sentimental. I was there and sat there and stood there went through my head in almost all the places in the video. It made me want to go back :D

  • Love this video! Makes me homesick. :o)

  • It's beautiful! Pace and music are so in tune together. Colors are vivid. San Francisco is a city where you want to be. Thanks for making my day!

  • Amazing...AMAZING video! Great vantage points! LOVE IT! I'm sharing this video with all my friends!

  • beautiful video, would love to see the neighborhoods as well (the soul of the city)

  • looks like it was taken by a certain Canon digital camera that has mini effect setting.

  • I read a blog on how to take digital pics that look like a model. This is very cool!

  • terrific: a valentine and a postcard

  • what was the fps ... ?? or did you just take a video...i am not sure if it was timelapse or a video...can you specify

  • SO ... what's the catch to add postprocesed selective blur to photographs in photoshop action when you have possibility to rent T/S lens for 20 - 30 $ per day in Bay Area?

  • San Francisco - my favourite city.

  • i cried when it was over. it was epic.

  • this is AMAZING

  • just beautiful!

  • Excellent job!

  • Great video! Love the song! Does somebody have it? I can't find in anywhere to download. Could you send me mp3 please on funtik_dd@mail.ru

  • totally brilliant, how did you do this

  • how do you do this?

  • @1999MadHatter1999 tilt shift photography. hope this helped

  • @yumaokamoto To me it looked more like effects rendered post. Take a look at the scenes with the avenue-thingy. Looks more like lens-blur with a rectangular mask to me. But ask the creator I'd say.

    Love it regardless!

  • So that is how God sees us from above.... :P

  • san francisco has been one of my many homes for 2 years.

thank you for making this, i'm sure that one day, if i move out, i will look back and shed a tear watching this.

    beautiful!

  • Ollie, this video is perfect. I've watched it probably 100x at least and it makes me cry and feel proud of my City and my Giants every time. Can you send me a hard copy? Would love to not have to upload from YouTube every time...

  • you know i live here, and it reminds me how nice it can be

  • brilliantly done. I miss this city so badly.

  • Nice effect with the blurring of the upper and lower frame, but some buildings were half in focus and half out of focus while the distance from the camera didn't change. Maybe try messing with your camera's focusing tools to get the focus narrow yet far away. Your camera knows distance and can create an illusion better than your computer can do after the fact for the computer doesn't know how far away the objects were.

  • i'm an elderly visitor to san fran - watching bring tears to my eyes

  • @MrSammy1904 Thanks for your pleasant comment.. It makes me feel happier now.. :-)

  • @5huher you made this yourself? niceee.

  • tilt shift is AMAZING

  • Dude, awesome video! Love the Tilt Shift! But you have to tell me what the song is ... always happy to buy new music ... ;-)

  • haha that's great, looks like some über-version of Sim City. best part 01:31 Lombard St and the Coit Tower parking lot, nice shots!

  • @heirihunziker palace of fine arts and the union was cooler

  • Very Cool. Some shots work better than others inthis piece, but tilt-shifting is awesome. There's a great sequence in The Social Network that use the same effect in a VERY interesting way.

  • what is this song?

  • I realy love tilt-shift videos and I also love this song. What song is it?

  • where's haight and castro... bahhhh... tourist vid

  • I love the video, I used to live in San Francisco, my apartment building is shown exactly 1:21 into the movie. Anyone who is visiting San Francisco, YOU MUST GO TO THE RESTAURANT "CAFE CLAUDE." You will not be disappointed.

  • Wow! Great job!

  • Nice

  • Yay Virgin America!!

  • Wow, this is amazing. What camera are you using?

  • where's the Castro disctrict... ?????

  • Awesome video! I love living in this city!! What type of camera did you use to record this ? Would also be interested to know what software you used to get the tilt shifting affect. :)

  • This video makes me want to go back to San Fran immediately!

  • I miss the city so much!

  • stunning video

  • Cool video. I'll be in San Fran on vacation in April 2011; can't wait. And I'll make it my mission to visit all places featured in this video.

  • Love this, but have to agree with @ travelswithspider - this needs those grittier parts of the city (s)he mentioned.

  • what camera did you use ?

  • The shots from Telegraph Hill are my favorites. That and wee li'l Chinatown!

  • Really awesome!!

I would guess it is shot at 0.5 sec frame interval to capture human stepping motion isn't it?

  • This is the best video about SF I have ever seen. Great Job!!! Thanks so much, you made my day. I will promote it on my blog, website and travel guides.

  • simply awesome

  • Hey awesome video! Makes me proud to live there. What song did you use?

  • best city in da world.

  • I LOVE IT ... ^.^

  • I think the effect is only successful when the view is higher. When the view is low and looking up, it doesn't feel miniature at all (like the shots of the Civic Center).

  • It's such a shame that this brilliant video has only 13,000 views. It needs more! Just imagine how much time it took to get these amazing shots and then edit them. Bravo! This video reminds me of how much I loved it there when I went on vacation a few months back. I would trade anything to go back. The best city I've ever been to.

  • I left my heart there many years ago!

  • Awesome!

  • This is literally the cleanest San Francisco has ever looked. I love this video.

  • PLease go to Pittsburgh, PA and do this!!!!! It would be awesome!!!!! This is awesome!!!

  • @Shmojo88 Actually I 'm planning to go to Miami and make a miniature city video there.. I've never been to Pittsburgh, maybe I should go there too..It's a good idea, thanks :-)

  • @5huher i live in SF but was born in Pittsburgh and agree: these two fantastic places are perfect for this kind of video

  • Awesome vid. Where is the place @ 1:38 (with the mini playground)? That's the only one I don't recognize.

  • @InformalName That is the view of Embarcadero street from SF Bay Aquarium side.. There is a little playground coming towards the Pier 39 from the Pier 33.. I'm sure you know that place.. :-)

  • I never spend enough time there like I wanted to when I lived so close! :-(

    Great video!

  • Just one word: GREAT!

The Airport view are very nice!:)

  • That is one cool train set.

  • Awesome video. But where's the mission or the haight or the Castro or golden gate park or the mission bay house boats or market street or 6th street or ???

    Sequel!!!

  • @travelswithspider ...and Tenderloin..? :-) I had a few videos of those places , but couldn't fit them in one composition.. we'll see.. Maybe in my next projects...I'm going to create something more about SF sights too..

  • @5huher i got yer tenderloin, right here. ;-)

  • 1:12 Mustang on the left. =]

  • @WheresTheAnyKey1

... or you can create this effect in post production using a gradient lens blur.. :-)

  • hey that looks like home (:

  • I'd love to see this with some Tony Bennett playing though =)

  • Such a classy city! I love it. Great video, too.

  • this was pretty sweet, how do you do something like this?

  • @WheresTheAnyKey1

It involves the use of tilt shift lens.

If you google up lensbaby, you'll find those types of lens.

  • Very well done, that was beautiful.

  • amazing.

  • Please view in HD and full screen for best effect.
